Overdrive for me, clearly the best looking of the bunch.

Overdrive. Cars with wings FTW. From the catalogue pictures Overdrive was winning for me anyway, but bonus points for Tracks-esque antics!

The winning Powerdasher will only be disclosed after the poll ends? Oddly enough, YES, this exactly describes by solution to this problem! Hooray! True democracy finally!

Maybe it's because I have Overdrive, but not the others, I feel like they're the more interesting looking. I chose Overdrive as a kid because I was obsessed with that iconic prowl-type chest he, the nissan, and jazz had. I vote now for Camshaft as he has the most unique robot mode.

Are you just going to put the options as 'Powerdasher A', 'Powerdasher B' and 'Powerdasher C'?

Weren't these Powerdasher names the original Diaclone names or something that we used in the club - and then it was actually made official in MTMTE? I know I'd been using these names for them since the early 90's. I think it was from Andy Dornan that I first heard these names being used.
EDIT: Just checked the wiki and these were the French Joustra names originally. And the Italian Transformers line.

Funnily enough, I haven't gone for the flying car this time. I just don't think Overdrive is as distinctive/impressive to look at as Tracks. I've voted for Camshaft. I like the silver colour scheme (I also voted for Bluestreak, you may recall), and the position of the missile launcher in both modes is unique and pretty cool in my opinion.

Hmmmmm, Camshaft.
Yep, Camshaft for me. Never seen these in the plastic, I remember seeing them on a completely different catalogue/adverty type thing? It had, oh gosh, Wheeljack and Mirage on it as well, and others? I'm fairly sure I'm not just imagining it...
But Camshaft is the most visually interesting in my opinion.

Downshift. Reminds me of Wheeljack. The other two have dull, generic robot modes.

Did you see the attempt to do Downshift from Wheeljack in the Generations book vote?

Omnibots are a distinct subgroup. Omnibots this week, then best of the rest next week - Powerdasher vs Time Warrior. No, Phil, no. My esteemed colleague Mr Marshall is correct. Also: TIME WARRIOR will win by such a landslide there is no need for him to be polled against Powerdasher! -Ralph

Did you see the attempt to do Downshift from Wheeljack in the Generations book vote? I remember that! Look at the Omnibots there. What a cracking SDCC set that would make. That Wheeljack mould is SO good. Love it. One of my favourite generations figures.

Right. Here we go then. A camshaft is part of a car. Downshift is an American term for changing into a lower gear, and overdrive is something you can do to a car engine to make fuel consumption at high speeds more efficient.
I'd have thought the majority of early G1 transformer names are a real world reference to something to do with their character.

Very very few names in 84/85 were actually made up (Devastator, Megatron, Laserbeak, Ironhide type stuff).
So indeed the majority of the names are either straight forward objects (Wheeljack, Ratchet, Camshaft), or are actual terms (Shockwave, Smokescreen, Bluestreak). Then we have two outliers, Optimus Prime and Omega Supreme. Both of which are real words, but don't quite fit into either catagory.
