So are camshafts a shaft in cars??? I am not clicking on those links of lies!!! -Ralph A cam is a shape, usually something like an egg, that turns rotary movement into a up/down or forward/backward movement. A camshaft has one or more of these mounted on it.  |

But okay - I've never held any of the Omnibots in hand, so it's definitely purely on the looks. And on that basis, the one that stands out the most is ChangeDownAGear, with his wings and everything.

I remember being disappointed they were only going to do one of those, there are so many good repaints there; Universe Smokescreen as a homage to G2 Smokescreen is brilliant! And Silverbolt looks great, too.
As for this trio, I'm going to plump for Downshift. He looks to have the best robot mode, but none of the three set my world on fire tbh

Very very few names in 84/85 were actually made up (Devastator, Megatron, Laserbeak, Ironhide type stuff). So indeed the majority of the names are either straight forward objects (Wheeljack, Ratchet, Camshaft), or are actual terms (Shockwave, Smokescreen, Bluestreak). Then we have two outliers, Optimus Prime and Omega Supreme. Both of which are real words, but don't quite fit into either catagory. It has never occurred to me until now that Shockwave = shockwave!!! Never! I never put the two together!!! 'Shockwave' is just his name, like Bill. -Ralph |

To make things more confusing, the car Camshaft turns into doesn't actually have a camshaft. It's believed to be the reason behind the name swap for their Japanese release [Camshaft was Downshift and Downshift was Camshaft].

Downshift or Overdrive. Not Camshaft, in person its more underwhelming than the other two.
Overdrive alway seems a bit flimsy
Er, Downshift because I like the Wheeljack style transformation. I do wonder why the didn't opt for differnet colour unless these were all old Takara stock.

I think I need to make my personal position here quite clear:
One item this week is a Transforming robot. OK the one pictured isn't great and would loose against most other transforming robots.
The other item here is a piece of tat shaped like a Autobot symbol that is a digital watch.
We got one of these items in the UK as a special offer and it wasn't the transforming robot.

The catalogues don't show TFs in all their modes, but we are still taking those other modes into account when voting.
