Helps that she's also in the show Airazor is the only BW basic (as opposed to Fuzor or Transmetal) after the first wave to be in the show. As such she was more in demand. Which would be a good reason to keep her in the case. But no...... About the only reason I could think of for dropping her was that he very similar video repaint was due imminently. But that didn't quite pan out..... I recall at the time thinking "I wish they'd junked Clawjaw" cos he was already shelfwarming by that stage! But no, he stays in.... And when I got thinking I realised it was Razorclaw who probably should have been junked as he was a Predacon So the new toys in w2 (M Maximal, P Predacon): M Airazor M Clawjaw P Razorclaw W3 adds M Snarl P Spittor P Drillbit P Powerpinch P Lazorbeak Airazor get dropped with ALL the remaining earlier basics (including the likewise in demand cos they're in the show Rattrap & Terrorsaur) leaving an assortment of M Clawjaw M Snarl P Spittor P Drillbit P Powerpinch P Lazorbeak P Razorclaw Obviously the Maximals are rather outnumbered here, a situation which would have been mitigated by Airazor being carried over instead of Razorclaw. Instead they decide to have Spittor swap sides M Clawjaw M Snarl M Spittor P Drillbit P Powerpinch P Lazorbeak P Razorclaw The faction change is made on the packaging and cosells. Unfortunately it isn't on the toy and he retains his Predacon Energon Chip (rubsign!) What's even more annoying is the whole situation could have been avoided by playing with w2 a bit. Here's how the 97 basics were added into the US line Basics Wave 1 Airazor Razorclaw Basics Wave 2 Claw Jaw Drill Bit Basics Wave 3 Lazorbeak Basics Wave 4 Powerpinch Snarl Spittor If we'd lost a Predacon, instead of a Maximal in w2, added Drillbit instead of Clawjaw and added Clawjaw in w3 things might have been a lot better all round!

The w2 basic picture has been flipped! Razorclaw's claws are the wrong way round and the background is the reverse of the background image of the w2 deluxe!

Airazor, Clawjaw & Spittor all have repaints packed with videos. Clawjaw & Spittor both have BWII repaints: Clawjaw and Snarl are also sold unchanged in BWII but under different names. Snarl has a Robotmasters repaint.

This one has to go to Airazor for me, simply on account of her being the one basic that I bought back in the day. Her design caught my eye then, and it catches my eye still now. Helps that she's also in the show and has a flapping wing action - can never resist a little flapping action. Airazor for me too, love that toy - and now she has a secure head thanks to the nail varnish. The wing flapping action, with extending blades, is nice, but I really love the ability to pin her gun to the underside of the arms!

I think many of us, with long memories, will recall quite how badly Clawjaw shelfwarmed and avoid voting for him.
I know that he, and Cybershark, were eventually hoovered up by Hasbro because one day my local Toystack had no BW and the next it had pegs and pegs of those two!
And, in our heart of hearts, we ALL know Spittor is a Predacon despite what his packaging says so it would not be right for him to win a Maximal poll!

But Clawjaw is now a legend.
Even my friends who were not Transformers/Beast Wars fans knew who Clawjaw was.

It's not a bad toy. It's, maybe, a little odd. It certainly could have done with being released in smaller numbers here!
Gimmick works better than Snarl's though. That's dreadfully poor

Not a bad set of toys, that. If Airazor wasn't an option I would find it very hard to call. But she is, so no need to overthink this!

Clawjaw is famous for being fantastic. And shelf-warming like a movie Bumblebee before movie Bumblebee made it cool.

Clawjaw. One of my favourite moulds of all time. A view I held even before the far superior TM clawjaw came out. And long before I knew of the slightly better ikard and his wonderful octotank chum.
I missed last week's, but my vote would have been for the amazing Panther. Admittedly not as "cool" looking as beetle or manta ray( who would have got the sentimental vote as I won him in a tmuk competition) but Panther was probably the best articulated transformer of that size until core class Rattrap came out. Ludicrous how complete around they made for 25c.

You ran it because your programme of polls would have been incomplete if you hadn't.
You wouldn't have wanted that would you?

HOW IS CLAWJAW WINNING ?? ?? ?? ?? ?? ?? It's the best toy of the selection, have you not experienced one? Highly recommend it. Should be easy to get hold of over here, apparently there were loads of them on the shelf 20 odd years ago.
