Apart from the windscreen/lightpipe change these four have never had a repaint or a Japanese release. It would seem Japan did *INTEND* to release them as names for them each as did gain a Japanese name via a BotCon Japan 1997 exclusive poster, which featured bios for all of the new Generation 2 characters released in the U.S. who weren't part of the Japanese line tfwiki.net/wiki/Axelerator#Foreign_names One of these names later crops up on their intended Japanese Blocktown release: Carzap: tfwiki.net/wiki/Carzap_(BT)#Block_TownTherefore we can be reasonably sure the others would have been the same as what the poster listed TFBT-4 Rapid Engine (Rapido) with Gasoline Station Set TFBT-5 Carzap (Zap/Windbreaker) with Garage Set TFBT-6 Hotrider (Turbofire) with Signal/Traffic Lights Set See tfwiki.net/wiki/Block_Town for more on Blocktown. Missing from the Blocktown lineup is Skram (same name on the Japanese poster) Since he is gang-molded with Zap/Windbreaker, a Block Town Skram would be a red car with white robot parts - could someone oblige with a Digibash? This is the Carzap image from Generations, it's tinsy tiny there

Except the blocks would be Kre-O, and therefore terrible quality.
I've never played with any of these, so have no idea what the quality is like. They do look like solid little cars, so just going on looks alone I'll go with the one that stands out most to me, which is Hotrider - just something about that combination of colours. But if I was going on the names, I'd have to pick Windbreaker. Because of course I would.

I own ONE Axelerator: Zap 2 now: Rapido and he has his gun. A bit meh tbh. Doesn't feel like anything different from a myriad of other small car TFs. And the car bonnet blocking the face is unforgivable!

As with all pickups they can't resist moulding some gubbins into the pickup's flatbed! Would have looked much better in black & red instead of the greeny blue & red. Have I done my mad theory how the wrong toys are gang moulded together here ?

HAWK aka Eagle Eye (Infiltrator)
"Destruction! Beautiful glorious destruction!"
He's chillingly devious, unscrupulous and a dangerous enemy to cross. He loathes the Autobots with all his considerable venom and takes every opportunity to smash them. As a plane, the undercarriage radar targeting system detaches to form a separate weapon. In robot form he uses it to attack with deadly accuracy.
Strength 6 Intelligence 9 Speed 9 Endurance 7 Rank 9 Courage 8 Firepower 8 Skill 9
SNIPE aka Afterburner (Technicians Master)
"Brute force is not my way. My technology can devise infinitely more successful, subtle, and unpleasant methods..."
Afterburner is fast and independent with a sharp mind. But he's lazy so his flashes of genius usually amount to nothing and he's always in trouble for going his own devious way. As a plane, he attacks with a dual-purpose radar targeting system / firepower. As a robot, he's lethal on the front line.
Strength 8 Intelligence 9 Speed 9 Endurance 7 Rank 7 Courage 9 Firepower 8 Skill 8
TERRADIVE (Advance Fighter)
"Why waste good fighting time thinking? Just BLAST your way in!"
He's the solid muscle of the team. Not much brain but tons of brute force. His only thought is to wipe the Autobots from the universe. As a plane, the undercarriage radar targeting system doubles as a powerful weapon. As a robot, he uses it to mow down his sworn enemies.
Strength 10 Intelligence 5 Speed 8 Endurance 9 Rank 8 Courage 9 Firepower 9 Skill 7
TORNADO aka Windrazor (Leader)
"Show me an Autobot and I' ll show you a hole in the ground!"
He's utterly unscrupulous and will sacrifice anything - even his team or himself - to win. Destruction of the Autobots is his one and only goal in life. As a plane, he swoops from the skies with firepower cunningly disguised as an undercarriage radar targeting system. As a robot, he leads his troops with evil genius.
Strength 8 Intelligence 10 Speed 10 Endurance 8 Rank 10 Courage 9 Firepower 9 Skill 9

Skyscorchers (If there's a pun in there, I'll need it pointing out!) As I said last week there's a pattern in the 80s where Transformers gimmicks are introduced one year and then then continued the next at a smaller size (Headmasters, Targetmasters, Pretenders) and in many ways that's followed here with the Turbomasters & Predators becoming the Axelerators and Skyscorchers. We get downsizing but at the same time features like the light piped eyes, same coloured cockpit canopies and gold face plates (now whole heads at the smaller size) are continued. These are the smallest non Micromaster jets yet but somehow they didn't grab me. Too small? Perhaps. Maybe the Predators were a sweet spot size wise. But I think mor than anything I was cross that the jets had been made smaller to allow for a whole swathe of similar looking Decepticon Cars. And you know how much I dislike Decepticon Cars! The major innovation here is the weapons. Whereas in 1992 the Turbomaster and Predator missile launchers were just pegged onto the vehicles 1993 features integration of the weapons into the alt mode. Where the Axelerators has the guns here becoming the engines, the Skyscorchers have them forming what TFWiki describes as radar assemblies. Our Aviation Expert has cast doubt on this description. Unlike the Axeleraotrs they're not chromed, using a grey not found elsewhere. Like the Axelerators, trying to get these with the guns is a right ****er though! Until last Friday I owned ONE Skyscorcher: Hawk (fourth name reused from the original 12 GI Joe figures in the last 2 years: Flash & Stalker in 1992 and Zap as we saw last week) But thereagain last Friday I owned just 3 1993 toys: Hawk, Zap and Pyro. Since then I've gained Rapido, Hotrider and the other three Skyscorchers. The Skyscorchers are a neglected jem, 4 interesting transformations with the easiest, Terradive, being merely "a bit different" Hawk challenged me for years, his rare appearances out the toy box always being me with "I can't remember how to do this" Snipe is pure evil: I held it up to Liz after opening and said "I can see what needs to happen but not how to do it" There are some VERY well concealed joints there! www.transformerland.com/image/archive/instructionscans/full/Eagle%20Eye_instructions-4023.jpgwww.transformerland.com/image/archive/instructionscans/full/Afterburner_instructions-4015.jpgwww.transformerland.com/image/archive/instructionscans/full/Terradive_instructions-4031.jpgwww.transformerland.com/image/archive/instructionscans/full/Windrazor_instructions-4039.jpgThese 4 get a straight rerelease in the US with no colour changes but three name swaps. Snipe becomes G2 Afterburner Hawk becomes G2 Eagle Eye Tornado becomes G2 Windrazor Terradive is the only one to keep the same name for BOTH releases. The Hawk & Eagle Eye names have a bird of prey connection The Tornado and WIMDrazor names have a weather connection. The 4 Skyscorchers have never had a repaint or a Japanese release. It would seem Japan did *INTEND* to release them as names for them each as did gain a Japanese name via a BotCon Japan 1997 exclusive poster, which featured bios for all of the new Generation 2 characters released in the U.S. who weren't part of the Japanese line tfwiki.net/wiki/Axelerator#Foreign_names One of the Acelerator names later crops up on their intended Japanese Blocktown release: Carzap: tfwiki.net/wiki/Carzap_(BT)#Block_Town Therefore we can be reasonably sure the Skyscorchers would have been the same names as what the poster listed TFBT-1 Snipe (Snipe/Afterbuner) with Radar Set TFBT-2 Terradive with Control Set/Control Tower Set TFBT-3 Sky Tornado (Tornado/Windrzaor) with Airport Building Set Missing: Hawking (Hawk) See tfwiki.net/wiki/Block_Town for more on Blocktown. Eagle Eye is the only Skyscorcher who has not been revealed as part of the canceled Block Town series from Takara. Since he is gang-molded with Terradive, a Block Town Eagle Eye would likely have been simply a lighter green, with a blue tailfin.

An all new group here. Almost. Tornado's Alt mode has been used before and since tfwiki.net/wiki/Popular_Earth_vehicle_alternate_modes#F-16_Fighting_Falcon G1 Skydive G1 Dreadwind / Buster Needlenose - F-16XL Micromaster Falcon / Micromaster Silverbolt Euro Tornado/G2 Windrazor ROTF Aerialbot Scout 1 / ROTF Aerialbot Scout 2 (video game only) Prime Starscream / Prime Skywarp / Prime Thundercracker / Timelines Slipstream I'm less sure about the other three - Karl? Tornado is the only one that's pushing previous character buttons because he's blatantly Starscream. They've got very little fictional appearances. None of them have had remakes under either name. However I think one of them MAY have had a return in a later line.... There is a tradition in Transformers for Powered Up and changed versions of a character to have a new name that includes (God Ginrai, Thrustor, Dirge Gun) or corrupts (Galvatron, Exigeyser, Backguild, First Gunner) the original name. I think there's a potential one been over looked here: does Skyscorchers SNIPE, a blue jet with yellow stripes, return as Robotmasters SmokeSNIPEr, a blue jet with yellow stripes? tfwiki.net/wiki/Snipetfwiki.net/wiki/Smokesniper
