I would LOVE to give this one to Snipe, purely for the frustration it caused me this week, but it has to go to Hawk. His TF has had many years of winding me up cos he was the first Skyscorcher I had. Hie tail fin has a tendancy to fall of transforming but hey ho. He has a nice little feature too that I thought no toy had till YEARS later: his hands are in his engines, with the 3mm hand port facing upwards, but the ends of the engines are ALSO 3mm ports so you can stick weapons pointing out the end of his arms. Phil needs to find some Cyberverse weapons to tool him up!

Liar, he was fab, best thing in S2, closely followed by Kryten. And he had a fab ship.
Plus he's much better than Flint or Duke

Season 2 was shite. The show jumped the shark big time and shit Hawk and shit Kryten were part of the problem.
Only season 1 counts!

Not just to vex Ralph (honest), but because he's the one that draws my eye, I'm going to have to vote for Hawk. Also he's clearly meant to be Megatron, whilst the other three are of course Starscream, Thundercracker and Skywarp.

The Fleetway G2 comic only featured three Skyscorchers, omitting Snipe. I seem to recall it even had a toy checklist that for some reason omitted Snipe, although it listed every other European toy available in 1993/4. Point of order re: the size of the Skyscorchers: Martin

"A new ballgame" ?
Do Cybertronians play ballgames?
Or is... Shoutyjetdude, speaking earth lingo? If he is speaking earth lingo, would Megatron know what he's talking about? I'm sure Megatron's studied certain aspects of the ways of earth, but I don't think sports would be on his list. Just power sources, natural resources, political instability, defensive capabilities...
I... might be thinking about this too much...

Tough one between Tornado and Snipe.
Snipe has a wonderful transformation for its time and a sturdy robot mode. But going with Tornado - nice basic jet to robot with realisic colours.

Got the Skyscorchers and the three Turbomasters I own - Skram is elusive and the only cheap one on eBay is missing an arm - lined up on my desk. The lightpipe eyes look AMAZING! I've also pulled out a Predator and Cyberjet to stand with them and the contrast between the three plane groups is interesting, the difference in builds and sizes. I wonder why there was no Decepticon plan sub group in 1994 - which we'll come onto after Christmas. Th closest you get is Rotorforce which is a pair of Air Vehicles. 1992 Predators 1993 Skyscorchers 1994 - 1995 Cyberjets 1996 (planned) Flipchangers ..... though now I think of it I don't think any proof has turned up that the Flipchangers were planned for G2. Certainly no prototypes, so we don't know what colours they would be. But it's a repeated fact and you can see how they're a logical step between Cyberjets and BW Basics and an evolution of the Auto TF gimmicks on the Powedashers and Power Masters.

But 1994 did sort of have the Skyscorchers in the US as part of G2.
In the UK we had the two Rotorforce and two flying Firecons as our fleet of four.
G2 was something I was looking forward to at the end of 93, but when it came around it was a hodgepodge of uninteresting toys cobbled together on cheap looking cardbacks. And I wished we just kept getting our own thing, rather than follow the US again.
Plus - no pack in toy catalogues!

So, are we saying Speedstream isn't Mirage then? Martin

It's great that Speedstream is a race car whose sponsors are Hasbro and Milton Bradley. Nobody would guess he was a toy in disguise, with sponsors like those!
If they'd had any sense of humour, they'd have replaced Firepower with Waterpower on these guys' tech-specs.
AQUAFEND (Espionage Expert)
"I know those Decepticons as well as I know myself. They're two-faced, conniving devils - and that's putting it nicely."
The eyes and ears of the Force. An ingenious expert at disguise and undercover work. Almost knows more about the enemy's minds than they do themselves. Unchallengable as a ground-gripping all terrain vehicle with water defense power system. Uses his firepower as a robot to blast his way out of tricky situations.
Strength 8 Intelligence 9 Speed 8 Endurance 6 Rank 9 Courage 9 Firepower 9 Skill 8
DELUGE (Rear Guard)
"If we don't finish the job and flatten them - we might as well not be in the fight at all."
A vital cog in the vast Autobot battle machine. Can endure the most extreme battle conditions and still fight fearlessly to the last. Ties up all the loose ends as he mops up the action behind the troops. As a tough vehicle will take on any endurance challenge and defend with devastating water power. Is just as deadly as a robot.
Strength 9 Intelligence 8 Speed 8 Endurance 10 Rank 8 Courage 9 Firepower 8 Skill 8
JETSTORM (Strategy Expert)
"Give me more action! It's no fun unless I can see the whites of their eyes."
Young and impetuous. His love of excitement hides a serious intelligence. Amazing skill in devising hair-raising new defense methods. As a vehicle, aquapower makes him a formidable opponent. As a robot uses it to defend with courage and accuracy.
Strength 7 Intelligence 9 Speed 9 Endurance 7 Rank 7 Courage 9 Firepower 9 Skill 9
SPEEDSTREAM (Leader)
"Wherever there's trouble that's where we'll be. Giving double the trouble back straight between the eyes."
Straight-talking and fast-moving. Believes in instant action. Combines courage with farsighted judgement as a brilliant and popular leader. As a car, combines amazing speed on the ground with rear-mounted water weapon. Transforms to a robot with equally effective firepower.
Strength 8 Intelligence 10 Speed 10 Endurance 9 Rank 10 Courage 10 Firepower 9 Skill 9

So, are we saying Speedstream isn't Mirage then? Well no, these were clearly meant to be updates of the Aerialbots but the molds got swapped by mistake. And for me, I'll go with Deluge, because I like his car mode the most. That'll do.

So, are we saying Speedstream isn't Mirage then? Martin You look at Speedstream and wonder if that might of been the intention. It's the only one that's really shouting at me it might be someone else..... though Jetstorm has something of Windcharger about him, second toy this year with that style of lower legs complete with the rear window covering The group brings to mind the 91/2 GI Joe sub group the Eco Warriors, also armed with water weapons. There an existing character is put in command of a group of newer ones.

Fortunately I've amassed a decent pile of toyfair catalogue scans to act as visual references for us as we go into the second generation of this poll. But if anyone has scans of 93 US, 94 UK or 94 US they would be VERY useful

It has to be DELUGE due to how the kid shouts it out in the advert. Yes, but that's a G2 ad featuring G2 Deluge, i.e. Speedstream for this 1992 UK poll's purposes. If you vote Deluge in this poll, you're voting for this guy: tfwiki.net/wiki/Deluge_(G1)Not this guy from the ad: tfwiki.net/wiki/Deluge_(G2)Martin
