Pictures do not do justice to Dead Prowl's stricken facial expression. In person, he looks truly haunted.

After all they gave you...
You wake each Saturday. Endure the idiotic madness of... whatever the TV show was that had Timmy Twathammer on it.
Endure it just to get five prescious minutes of Transformers cartoon action.
Then the comic. Such precious paper my fingers touch.
Their adventures and interactions. Enthralling us... changing our lives; changing what it was to be entertained.
This was new. This was different. Cars, jets, CASSETTE RECORDERS?!?! that became... Robots..? Nothing like this had existed before! And they were all such brilliant characters! They had personalities... such attention to detail... we knew them...
Nothing like it before- not Star Wars, not Star Trek, not The Blackhole, NOTHING! Nothing excited us as much as these, these, THESE- Transformers.
Thank you. Thank you for those beautiful days in 1984... and 1985.
Thank you for the memories and the way you changed science fiction for me.
Thank you.
Thank you, Transformers
And decades later we thank you again. By collecting, and seemingly revelling in, hideous representations of you DEAD. DEAD AND DYING. Seemingly in denial of the tricks of company executives spicing it up to sell more toys in a shallow attempt at a movie that was as unimaginative as it was poorly animated, sweeping aside as it did the characters that built the franchise, and that built dreams and creativity.
How quickly we forget.
But not all of us fell for it...

Cliffjumper didn't die.
Also, you can say a lot of things about the Movie, Shockprowl, but poorly animated is not one of them.

Um, Phil, there is a clear shot of their dead bodies. Just like in the Sunbow pilot when they were all clearly dead on the floor of the Ark from the crash 4,000,000 years ago. Dead dead dead. Until they weren't any more. Martin

And of course Prime turning grey meant he was really and truly dead, and there couldn't ever be a Return of Optimus Prime. And Starscream would never ever return. Honest.

The...bellows test?? -Ralph Well known to any local Miracle Man. A very important part of determining if they can help someone who turns up with a friend in some status of deadness. (Assuming said Miracle Man can be bothered, and isn't too angry at being fired by a local king...) Karl

This has got me thinking.
If you were an Autobot whose friend was mostly-dead, let's say Prowl, to keep this on topic, after a spaceship crash into a volcano, or a nasty encounter with an Insecticon splinter grenade or an Underbase-powered Starscream, or a lucky shot from Scavenger - who would be your go-to fixer-upper to fix him up?
1. Ratchet - the most competent Autobot medic. He's competent, professional and compassionate, but he's not a miracle-worker. If he doesn't have the right equipment or parts, your pal may sit in pieces in his medical bay for some considerable time. If he declares your pal all-dead, your pal may get shot into deep space.
2. Wreck-Gar - he's got a few screws loose, but can turn the remains of Bumblebee into Goldbug, and on Junk he and his pals can bring Ultra Magnus back from being quartered by the Sweeps in no time flat. But faced with a mostly-dead Optimus Prime in a cartoon called 'The Return of Optimus Prime', he shrugs and says, "He's dead, Jim."
3. The Quintesson - when Wreck-Gar fails, the Quintesson can bring Optimus Prime back from the dead even after he's turned grey. But he might brainwash your pal Prowl and turn him into an evil zombie if you don't watch what he's doing.
4. Grimlock - he'll pump your pal full of the latest experimental alien wonder-fuel and hope for the best.
