John Wick Chapter 3: More of the same but by golly I winced a lot at the violence. As did much of the audience going by what I could hear. Jings. Do not **** with John Wick! He will do bad things to you! Bad things Do I need to have seen the previous films to watch this? Martin

Not really, no. The John Wick films are about the stunts rather than the plots.

I presume that was in reply to this: ...and that was probably my last film at my local fleapit of a decade. I have easily seen somewhere between 450-500* films in there. I shall miss it. -Ralph *I used to keep a yearly record. One year was 52 films, another 157, another 106. That three year period was my peak due to practically living there due to Real Life issues. With the Cineworld Unlimited card for 8 of those years I usually saw a film a week hence the overall estimate. As established elsewhere, Burns is moving!

1. Stan and Ollie - Good stuff 2. Bumblebee - I think Ive seen every Live Action at cinema at least twice. Had to keep the tradition. 3. Vice - Entertaining but the lack of any decent human beings meant I didn't really enjoy it. 4. Alita: Battle Angel - Enjoyable but mostly forgetable. On a number of levels Alita herself was a bit off. I don't know if it was the cgi, or the eyes ( i get the in film explanation for the look, but that should still have warranted some kind of comment from someone) or even the sort of iffy age stuff (she spends most of the film in a body built for a young teen, but depending on your perspective is either much older or only 1 day old) 5. Mary Poppins Returns - Suprised to find myself really enjoying it. Everything works though I'm not sure of the music is as memorable as the original. 6. Lego 2 - Some laugh out loud moments and still an enjoyable film, but not quite as good as the first one. 7. Captain Marvel - yay. 8. Shazam - Levy is always good value for money. Never imagined him leading a modern superhero film though. Weird but amazing times (in cinema). 9. Avengers : Endgame - double yay. 10. Bill and Ted Excellent Adventure - Dude! Special 30th Annivasary screening put on by Hull Independent Cinema, but at Cineworld so I could still use my card. I was to young to see it first time around on the big screen and I doubt Ive seen it in the last 20 years. Its weird and totally not weird how this has survived the test of time. Its really good and yet I'd have a hard time putting my finger on what makes it better than a lot of similar films from the late 80s. I mean Keanu Reeves and the Soundtrack are obviously helpful. Also a nice little web cam video from Alex Winters to introduce it and saying they start on 3 in less than a month. Eeek! 11. John Wick 3 - Revenge of the Puppies. Two Keanu films in a week. Good times!

1. Avengers: Endgame 2. Vice 3. Stan and Ollie 4. Hellboy 5. Captain Marvel 6. Alita: Battle Angel 7. John Wick Chapter 3 (don't be mean to dogs) 8. Aladdin (it grew on me as it went on - the princess was good, Will Smith was OK but the actor playing Aladdin was awful)

Godzilla: King Of Monsters. Big Chonk go Skreonk film lonk
Is batshit in all the best ways, they took the premise and where the last couple of films left of and ran with it and were not afraid to throw in some really left-field ideas. Camera work on the monster fights was way too shaky, but there was some stunning artsy shots too. Very much a film for the monster fans, if you're not, the length and so many characters might leave you cold.
3.5/5

Secret Life of Pets 2: insipid shite compares to fun original.
I booked for Godzilla. Checked with The Man who checked The Computer that was I was in the right cinema/screen/time (I have moved location). Lights went down. Alladin started. I screamed.

1. Captain Marvel 2. Avengers: Endgame 3. John Wick 3
Diminishing returns in this series, but still enjoyable (though they're getting increasingly explicitly violent, some wince-inducing stuff here).

1. Avengers: Endgame 2. Vice 3. Stan and Ollie 4. Hellboy 5. Captain Marvel 6. Alita: Battle Angel 7. X-Men: Dark Phoenix 8. Godzilla: King of Monsters 9. John Wick Chapter 3 10. Aladdin
Some great visuals / action sequences in XM:DP - I really like the train scene - though some of the characterisation is a bit off and the plot seems to create yet another X-Men future timeline, different to the one created/seen at the end of DoFP. Is this the end of the current series?

Yes and no. New Mutants should have come out first (it had been made) but has been delayed by several years and we will see what happens with that.
With Disney now owning Fox it is safe to assume the X-Men films as we know them (Fassbender and co) have come to an end, albeit one that was probably not planned the way it has happened.

X-Men: Dark Phoenix - Not the worst X-film but not that great. Has its moments but let down by weak script. Watchable.
MIB International: pish.

1. Stan and Ollie 2. Bumblebee 3. Vice 4. Alita: Battle Angel 5. Mary Poppins Returns 6. Lego 2 7. Captain Marvel 8. Shazam 9. Avengers : Endgame 10. Bill and Ted Excellent Adventure 11. John Wick 3 Aside from seeing Endgame for the second and third time 12. Godzilla - too long, but lots of good stuff 13. Aladdin - Phhf! Another realy expensive reminder for how good the animated version is. Honestly its not nearly a bad as the trailers made it look. As with Beauty and the Beast theres lots of padding out of the run time for various reasons with a tendency to over explain things that we got the first time around. The Genie benefits from some as Will Smith is actually great when hes not stuck with the thankless task of imitating Robin Williams. Jasmin gets a maid/friend that is really good. And the build up to A Whole New World really is made better by the new material. 14. Late Night - I think I needed a break from the blockbusters as I really struggled through Godzilla and Aladdin (though was fine rewatching Endgame) This did the job, nothing to original but well done.

Aladdin - Phhf! Another realy expensive reminder for how good the animated version is. Honestly its not nearly a bad as the trailers made it look. There was one bit that did have me laughing out loud - the scene where Genie makes Aladdin dance. I thought that was very well done. And very funny. Martin

I really enjoyed everything from them entering the palace till A Whole New World.
Everything else was very hit and miss. Low key Jafar was just strange.

John Wick Chapter 3 11. Aladdin 12. Men in Black International The mid- and end-of-credits scenes in SM:FFH are both excellent. Ed should particularly enjoy the character (and actor) making his first appearance in the MCU in the mid-credits scene... Martin

While neither of them gets anywhere near being in my top 10 superhero films, Homecoming and Far From Home remain the only Spider-Man films I've enjoyed watching from start to finish, and could enjoy re-watching.
