The toys are spectacularly bad in a great way.
Attack mode is just the best.
Head to TFU.info and see the hilarity for yourselves.

Animorphs are properly implemented Pretenders for Beast Wars. Fun fact... Tri-Rex was on sale in The Entertainer when I started collecting around 2000. I considered buying it. but I didn't

Trirex is amazing. Amazingly brilliant trex. Amazingly poor robots/the worst representations of human beings ever!

Now you understand the truth! It was a whole proper Transformers toy-line that was quickly seemingly erased from the historical record.
There was also a live-action TV show.

Well to be fair what it ACTUALLY is, is a series of Young Adult books that got adapted for TV that Hasbro picked up the license to.
Though still as legitimate a Transformers line as Star Wars:Transformers.

It has Transformers on it. Officially produced by Hasbro. So yes both are legitimate.

Does anyone know if the Animorphs were designed by the BW team? They seem a lot closer in feel to BW than either the Star Wars or Marvel line (which had seperate teams) did to contempory TF lines.
Admittedly they didnt do a much better job on the human forms, but then trying to turn one third of a Trex into a realistic human is a tough job. Turning an Xwing into a robot version of an Xwing pilot really should be easy in comparison.

There was also a live-action TV show. It was cringe-worthy, even at the time. I dread to think what it would be like now. Didn't they show the Beast Wars PC game in the first episode?

It has Transformers on it. Officially produced by Hasbro. So yes both are legitimate. The word Transformers was massive on the packaging! I believe this was also the reason the Beast Machine line was smaller. Also the Mutants figures were originally Animorphs.

They were designed by the TF team. Thus IMO, they are actual legitimate transformers way more than SW or Marvel which basically were poorly designed non-TF transforming toys with the TF name slapped on them.

Good God those are abysmal. They had some cool stuff, but really there was the problem of 'how to make an actual human transform into something'. Those gloves were a bad solution though!

Visser 3 makes a great BW Mutant figure. His beast mode is particularly fearsome when he's hunched over on all fours.

I got rachel when they first came out with the intentions of customizing her into a maximal named Sahara. She's been on my to-do list ever since. The tri-rex is a great dinosaur, and are not a bad toy. They're just terrible humans. And the giant alien thing is neat. I got that as a monster alien for my beasties to fight.

Have have to disagree about 33.33% The head bit of Tri Rex is fairly good in robot mode and has what I find a hilarious super deformed T Rex mode. Just went looking for TacoMorphs and it turns out they are fricken expensive for what they are.
