During Mariners Naked Now holodeck test the wording definitely could be read as something she experienced first hand.
Leaning back towards thinking she did serve or grow up on board.

I love that Tendi is a proper Dax fangirl.
Timeline all works so nicely. Young science loving Tendi wanting to escape the Orion life when news of the Bajoran wormhole breaks which would of course lead her to reading all of DS9s chief science officers papers and reports.

And i didnt register the little stop being so emotional bit in the last episode before.
Feels like someone was making a point to Discovery.

I really want an episode when Rutherford winds up in charge of the ship while its parked in Spacedock with absolutely nothing dangerous happening.

Lower Decks makes me so glad to have been so wrong on first glance. It’s also the one Trek show my wife and I watched (although she loves ‘The Voyage Home.’) together and now she wants me to pick out more Trek for us to watch.

I enjoyed it right away but some elements did risk putting me off. Needn't have worried, Lower Decks is the best first 20 episodes of any Star Trek series. And thats done with half the run time.

I've been belatedly catching up on this in the past couple of weeks and just reached the end of season one. And I'm really enjoying it! Favourite episode so far probably Veritas, it's certainly the one I laughed most at (and it has Kurtwood Smith!).
It feels like this is the current show which captures the spirit of Trek best, while also poking fun. Not every episode is a hit, but they're short and tell a complete story, which is definitely something I've been missing.

Finally got to the end of season two after taking a break, still really enjoying it and looking forward to season 3.
Glad not to have been spoiled on the throwback guest star in the finale! That was an amazing surprise. And the perfect kind of character to show up in a show like this, too. To find out the character is still around and doing well is kind of heart warming as well!

Weirdly I was mildly disappointed after I first viewed it. Then I realised I'd just hyped it up WAY too much and by any rational assessment what I had watched was amazing. Spoiler Having said that Vistor and Shimmermans performances seemed slightly off at times.
Any time Kira is arguing with Shaxs its perfect, but some of the other dialogue feels slightly stilted. And Quark was similarly off on occasions. Maybe adapting to cartoon versions, maybe lower decks writers werent quite tuned in on their characters all the time. Not sure.
But it did feel like a an episode of DS9 plucked from a potential season 8 (or 11 or 12, whatever season it would be) which is amazing I love that {Spoiler}they have spent two seasons setting up Tendis being a badass and Quarks success just to resolve them here.

I went in completely cold, I had no idea there was going to be A DS9 episode, so everything just landed perfectly from the beginning!
I agree about Visitor’s and Shimerman’s performances being a little inconsistent. I partly put it down to their age, you can hear in their voices that it’s been much more than five years. Maybe not speaking through the makeup affects Quark’s voice, too?
Even aside from the welcome guest stars there was so much good stuff packed in - Tendi’s plot was great, love the idea of an Orion brought up in the same situation as Worf; Beckett phasering Jenn’s annoying friends so they don’t use up the dwindling oxygen supply (followed by a phaser selfie!!!); the continuing bold Boimler subplot; Kira and Shaxs having to outdo each other on who owes who; even the opening joke with the Cerritos circling the station made us laugh out loud.
And it’s all done with such affection, and in the spirit of 90s Trek. Genuinely think this could be the best single Trek episode in a couple of decades.

Spoiler So I had a rewatch and figured out the issue. Kira has a couple of awkward lines to explains things to any viewers who havent seen DS9. They feel out of character but are neccesary exposition.
And Quark actually seemed fine, not sure what bothered me first time. Apparently Shimmerman did wear the teeth for his performance which I love. Bold Boimler is hilarious

I have started to come to feel like Shax is incomplete.
I feel like he needs to have a (now adult) adopted cardassian son, who's also in starfleet.
Because I could just see him being one of those embarrassing kinds of parents that shouts across the room as you're leaving "Daddy loooove yoooou!!!!" And "Baby booooooy!!!! Daddy's coming!!!!" when he's worried/scared that something's happening to him. Basically the polar opposite of the Worf/Alexander dynamic, and I think it'd be absolutely hilarious.

Lower Decks is now on Paramount+. Which is good if you have P+, bad if you dont, but at least its available again.
I was reading about the Strange New Worlds crossover and someone mentioned the Lower Decks timeframe was mid season 3ish which seemed odd, but then I realised any time later and into season 4 and it would have been Bold Boimler who went back in time and well that would have been a whole other thing.
