"Second Contact." That is a really good premise.

The trailer is out. It looks like the out and out spoof/piss-take that I had feared. Oh well.

I'm happy to give it a chance because we have no clue if this trailer is being completely honest, or is bent to try to pull in the Family Guy audience.
But what I was hoping for was a sillier version of The Orville, but proper Star Trek, with the freedoms that animation allows.
But what it looks like is a toned down Archer, but Star Trek.

To be honest, I watched the trailer, thought it looked immensely crap then completely forgot about it until now!

It's not a show for me. Despite all the guff in promo interviews it *is* a spoof of Star Trek rather than a Star Trek show with a slant towards comedy. I can't believe it exists in the same universe when it requires characters to act like idiots to make the plot work. Case in point: the title sequence.
I could put that to one side if the show was funny but I didn't laugh once or feel amused (Galaxy Quest was a fun ST spoof). It's also stuffed with references to the point a character suddenly spouts non-stop references to other shows.
Production values are solid. The voice cast are good. It's directed to look like 90's Star Trek.
But overall, I just don't know who this show is for.

The title sequence had me concerned, that was bad, but it turned out okay.
It could be a good Trek show with the same level of humour as The Orville. Or it could go full Rick and Morty. I'd probably be happy with either, but this was stuck somewhere in the middle.

I enjoyed it for what it is. Not nearly as bad as I was afraid of (Was worried it'd be really crass)

Okay so, my thoughts:
The silliness of the characters vs how well it meshes into shows that finished decades ago doesn't concern me.
My problem is that there was just too much going on, in a 22 minute program. At least for a pilot episode. I would have rather they done either the zombie outbreak on the ship, or done the girl constantly breaking regs in order to help people who need it. The latter though would have done more to establish the characters and why we should care about them.

I imagine an error was made when the video was put up for it being viewable outside US/Canada! CBS may not be able to have it there due to whoever gets the international distribution rights.

Season one finished.
The last two or three episodes have been really good. The meta references are still annoying, but the number of them have at least been toned down. The last episode only had one biggy.
No Small Parts crammed an insane amount in, was funny in the right ways and made some interesting comments on the Federation and how it deals with races it meets. And then the second 10 minutes went dark.
Title sequence is still shit.

Sat and watched all 10 in one day. Watching it in proper quality will have helped but even then it worked much better than on first viewing. And I already liked it first time.
My main issues first time around were the excessive number of references and more annoyingly just how many of them felt really forced (Ransom referring to the Kirk era as the TOS era) or references to things that it didn't seem like the characters should know about. The latter of them gets something of an explanation towards the end of the season. Im not sure how worth while leaving that to the end of the season was when it negatively affects the first viewing so much, but on rewatching it does work.

I've watched a few episodes now, and it just seems so hard to be trying to be Rick and Morty.

Watched first episode on Amazon. Enjoyed it for novelty value. No immediate urge to watch another one.

I have persisted. There's a reference in an episode to Khan's thikk chest. This means this is set in OG Ricardo Montlebahn timeline and not Movie retcon trade on nostalgia because we're out of ideas Benedict Cumberland-Sausage do over timeline.

Curious, I'd have thought they'd have embraced the new one except in direct follow ups (e.g. Picard) but then I guess for a show like this, it'd mean they have a much smaller pool of references to make.
