Why is it that the only time I seem to get excited about the new film is when I see X-Wings in flight? Or even hear that distinctive 'BLAT' of the lasers?

Keeping out of this thread but I'm pleased to say I've avoided having to staff the school trip to this on Thursday and have tickets for the missus and I for Thursday night.
So all I've got to do now is survive an hour at school on Thursday afternoon after the kids get back from the cinema. If I can stay spoiler free for those sixty minutes I'm safe. It'll be touch and go for certain as they'll all be talking about it.
Nerves! This is it folks! We're less than a week from the biggest cinema event of the 21st century!

I wrote a list of good and bad points and realised all my bad points were massive nitpicks. Needless to say, I enjoyed it. Missed the 20th Century Fox ident though, just wasn't the same  |

Sadly yes. Still another four SW films are due so no harm done. I have given my no-spoilers opinion in the general 2015 films thread.
I actually got more out of the Prequel films, which is not something I thought I would find myself saying when I got up this morning! Ahahahahahaha!!!

After sleeping on it, I have one major issue. Poe seems to have been sidelined for much of the movie to allow Han to do his thing. If Poe would have caught up with Rey and Finn on Jakka we could have had a similar setup to ANH. This is assuming that Poe is a major character moving forward though and not just an awesome save the day pilot.
What if... Old Man Luke is only revealed at the end of the first movie... like Spock in Unification Part I? Or even worse held back until the *next* movie to tease Andu.. I mean... the fans even more?? There would be fatalities in the cinema... Andy Uh-oh! |

More random thoughts... Would have been nice to have a ceremony honouring those lost in battle to close the film out, mirroring EpI and EpIV, albeit not quite the same sort of celebration. What's the deal with C3P0's red arm? Did Nien Nunb die, I'm sure I heard a resistance pilot comment that his X-Wing was destroyed but if so, at least he got named on screen. Not enough Leia with the Force, but at least she uses it in some capacity. |
