Okay therecs a juxtaposition between Ironhide and Arcee, that Ironhide suceeds where Arcee completely fails. Both of them a significant portion of their vehicle mode is removed. But Ironhide's is a fairly complex piece that converts into both a convincing riot shield (one of the better such pieces) that can be used as a jabbing weapon, and a believable hoverboard, and could be repurposed into a gurney. And it can also be stored on his back without any detriment to the robot. Arcee, despite the lack of any complexity in any way with the main toy, the removed part is just the rear half of the car. It doesn't convert. They say it's a hoverboard, but it makes zero effort to look like one. It would actually make one of the better and more convincing shields, but there's no way to mount it as such. It "folds up" to stow on her back, but makes her ungainly and is borderline incapable of supporting herself with it on. This is a long winded way of saying that with as little effort as they put into Arcee, they could have at least had the two thirds of the vehicle that gets removed actually do something. Obviously being based on the same mold Elita has the same issue, nice stand-alone robot figure if you pull half the back off, terrible transformation mechanism and lifeless alt mode.

Given someone had already opened them for me, tonight has been Ironhide and Prowl night. I think I can only nod in agreement with everyone else. Prowl is Bluestreak with a less exciting paint job, which it pains me to say because Prowl has always been the first and foremost of the Diaclone cars in my collection. Definitely the best Prowl since the original though.
Ironhide however is awesome. It's amazing how the changes from the Siege one are subtle, but enhance the figure so much. The shield is unorthodox but works so well, he poses brilliantly with it. I will have to open Ratchet tomorrow.

I got Trailbreaker and Runamuck today!
For some reason I really like Runamuck. I mean I shouldn't. I wouldn't call it a bad mold, but it isn't a terribly good one either. However... It should be a bad mold, yet it works. You see it from behind, how the legs and joints are designed... You see al the hinges in action during transformation... this thing by all rights should be a hot and floppy mess. But it works. And I think I love it. While faux kibble usually irritates me, it doesn't here. The fake wheels on the feet actually make me laugh. It feels more like a cute nod (he needs fold out foot support anyway, so why not sculpt tires on them?), than other more egregious examples.
I also never caught on until now that he was designed to allow you to mount his gun on top of his shoulder like the original.
I don't really have any new opinion on Trailbreaker over Hoist. If you have Hoist, then he brings nothing new to the table. Like Hoist, he's a much better looking Trailbreaker than "T30" Trailcutter. But not really as good of a toy.

Got Selects ER G2 Megatron yesterday.
Damn. The G2 colours are the only saving grace. I guess its not a terrible toy exactly, but the remoulding has made it worse than the Siege version in just about every way. Maybe, just maybe the tank mode might look better, but mostly because it makes the the tank look a bit more like the original G2 toy. Not really a benefit for the main line ER G1 version.
Even the remoulding to make the robot mode moe like the cartoon is only sort of effective. Yeah it probably looks more like the cartoon, but it still looks worse than the Siege interpretation.

Boy I do not like Fasttrack. If it weren't for Arcee, the Alicon, and the quintesson, he'd be the worst of ER.

What's so bad about him? Interested to know, since I've not picked one up yet, but was still considering doing so to accompany my Scorponok.

I just don't like him. I've never been impressed with weaponizers and modulators to begin with, but to me he doesn't do it even as well as the others. And I really do not like the spear mode.
I just don't like him. He's the polar opposite of Runamuck.

Bugbite has grown on me quite a bit. The head is by far the best G1 Bumblebee headsculpt since Classics.
If I didn't have Botcon Bugbite, this would be a perfectly serviceable version (if a bit way too small). Still would rather an update of the gobot instead of either, though.
Edit: I did not mean to place this post here. Thought I was in the Gen Selects thread. Too many threads to talk about the same set of toys!

And Sunstreaker is mine! The last retail ER figure that I wanted! Bring on Kingdom!
And I will die if I have to wait until november 2021 for Kingdom Wave 2.
So anyway, Sunny is the most disappointing figure of wave three. By no means is he bad. He's the best Sunstreaker to date (of course, he's only the third one and the second was CW. So he really only was competing with U2 Sunny, who had to share a mold with Sideswipe)
Anyway... He's full of "why did they do that?" choices. The main one being the leg transformation. There really is no reason to have reversed the legs from Wheeljack, needing to create a faux front end hidden under the actual front end. Nothing about any version of the character requires this. This just feels like changing it from Wheeljack for no other reason than change.
He's also extremely panely. I expected the thing that would bother me most would be the mismatched yellow paint, while the panels wouldn't (because panels usually don't), but it's actually the reverse! They even sculpted a little divet into the hood that goes across three panel breaks, that only amplifies the panely effect and makes it look even messier.
So, I don't mean to imply I don't like him, because I do! It's a perfectly adequate mold, and the best sunstreaker to date. It just kinda feels like it could have easily been better.

And the bazooka doesn't really make up for it, either.
If he'd been RotF Scout sized, with the bazooka, I'd feel it was a valid deluxe. And an added bonus would be no partsforming, and the engineering wouldn't be so cramped and compact.

Have Runabout in hand and have just noticed his box uses that UKCA marking that’s coming in (think the CE mark, post-brexit style). Think this is the first time I’ve seen it on anything:

It's fine, but the compromise for getting two very different Autobots out of it hurt both too much for my tastes. They look too squat and clompy.
