It may need revisions, but I did post a list a little while back of every G1 left without recent updates.

The new brand manager could do something shocking, like focussing on new characters. Yes, like New Optimus Prime! And New Megatron! And New Starscream! Yes, I am being facetious. But that aside, my perennial hope is of course: Pretenders! Failing that, I'd like the Generations line to move forwards in time to give us some good Beast Machines toys, and to then cover CR/RiD and then the Unicron Trilogy. If Generations is to continue being the "nostalgia" line that it kind of started off as.

Actually, the only instance in which I would accept the core cast being repeated is if they were to take a leaf out of Mattel's book and give us Transformers: Origins - basically the G1 toys but with actual articulation. The line could even be under the banner of "Audio Series", since it'd be giving us Ladybird-accurate versions of the characters. We can dream...

I have banged on for years about how a remake based on the 1984 Optimus/Convoy mould would be a refreshing change after being Sunbow'd to death. I doubt it could be done well, alas, after Earthrise Prime's trailer was so inferior.

I should clarify what I mean: a line of all new characters is what I desire. Like in olden days. The remake event horizon has been reached. -Ralph

Heretical as it may be, I really hope they don't do animated. Just because the original toys were perfect, and I don't see how they could be improved upon - especially given the compromises that have to be made in toy production now, compared to 15 years ago. Of course I could be proved wrong, and I would be happy if I was, but that's my gut response.

You probably couldn't maintain the same fidelity to the concept as MOTU does just because of the designs of the original toys (maybe Op and Soundwave would be the easiest to do this with), but you could definitely go much more heavily toy-inspired. The would look much more alien, it would be really interesting.

We'll have to take an Animated-inspired series on the chin.
I think it's time to recognise the most important TF toyline of the 21st century - the Power Core Combiners!

Animated would leave me feeling unsatisfied, if they kept up the deal where they drop it after a year. Because I have them all, and I'd want new toys of characters we don't have. Wasp, Hotshot, Strika, Cyclonus, Cliffjumper. But I know that couldn't happen because they'd have to start all over again. So it's another Optimus. Another Megatron. Another Bumblebee. Though I'd not mind that as much if they fixed the sizes, and gave up a commanders Lugnut and Megatron, Voyagers Sentinel, Snarl, Swindle, and Leader Starscream and Grimlock.
Though ultimately Animated would be better served in Studio Series.
I hope 2022, Generations goes back to being a side line, with the mainline actually getting a budget, less rubbish, and fiction that's actually accessible.

Well I suppose if they're going to keep going on with G1 characters then it would need a new aesthetic, but an animated style in generations would be a new departure. Animated is animated, generations has always had is own (albeit evolving) style. Also, chances of animated style toys looking anywhere near as good as the original ones these days = 0. We saw the animated look get eroded by cheaper designs through Prime and NuRiD to where we are now with Cyberverse. Animated had a very stylish and solid look, trying to recreate that on a modern budget isn't going to go well.
I thought the last rumour said post Kingdom would be Armada?

Of course I could be proved wrong, and I would be happy if I was, but that's my gut response. I think some of the Cyberverse stuff could eaily have been tweaked to give it an animated vibe. Animated would leave me feeling unsatisfied, if they kept up the deal where they drop it after a year. Because I have them all, and I'd want new toys of characters we don't have. I hope 2022, Generations goes back to being a side line, with the mainline actually getting a budget, less rubbish, and fiction that's actually accessible. Oh yeah a studio series Animated line could work. It would kind of be pointless as Animated pretty much nailed most of the toys first time around, but then I would make that argument for a lot of the Bayverse and that didnt stop them. I guess my preferred option if we did get something Animated inspired would be the the bare minimum of updates. Of course there would be a Prime and Megatron and probably a Bumblebee, (in fairness Bee and Megatron are probably ones that could be improved so that works out) but after that fill it with new characters or characters that didnt get toys in Animated. Fiction should be something new, as a continuation would essentially require most of the main cast to be redone. But honestly the rumour sounds more like a standard G1 Megatron just with helicopter alt mode. Also fine with that. Animated and SG Galvatron pulled that off well.

Which would be weird, because back when Animated was announced I assumed that the show was going to feature stylised versions of the toys, with the toys themselves looking like your typical Transformers toy. I was quite surprised when it turned out that the toys would actually look like their show counterparts, and, through some dark magic, still be able to transform. If Generations does indeed just take "inspiration" then that'll be... interesting, I guess. But not essential.
