My 13k post was announcing Marmaduke. Which of these two posts is the more important? Time will tell.

I have come to realise that when at school, the day is marked by the number of lesson changes; when at home, the day is marked by the number of times I need to go for a pee. i have found this as well!! ! maybe we are getting old!

Morning All!
Yeah, awake far too early but got five hours solid last night, Thank You Lord.
Lots of little niggles in the body yesterday and not feeling quite right all day. Pray we shift them and all stay safe & well. I think the sinusitis might be on the wane but it's not going without a fight.

After tossing and turning all night thinking about reasons for requesting furlough, turns out it's just a letter to sign to say whether you would mind being furloughed if asked.

Both Liz and I have had an itchy scratchy throat overnight. Some suggestion pollen might be responsible, my eyes have been itching too.

Just getting lunch now. Working non-stop and more to do later.
One of the things I don't like about working from home is not feeling I get a break. The work phone can ping at any time with more tasks to do and I feel pressure to respond immediately. This is not in any way relaxing or carefree.

You don't have to respond immediately. You need to look after yourself and take breaks. I know that sounds easier than it is.

It's weird that. I get occasional opportunities to work at home if I'm doing something department related because it's often hard to find quiet places to work in school. I get that feeling too - like you have to work doubly hard and even longer to make sure you can justify that you haven't been slacking off. Today's an example - I started at 7.30, took a break at nine for a workout, then worked 10-3 without stopping and have just realised my stomach is rumbling. Still haven't managed to quite finish what I was doing.

I also still have to go out to do remote working (on a tram right now). Be lucky if I finish before 6pm. Took 15 min break for lunch. Started at 9am.
Absolutely exhausted.

Pollen is rising currently. Joy has been feeling it too. Been really high in Swindon. weather.com/en-GB/forecast/allergy/l/SN25:4:UKJust had a consultation with a friend in London and she said dreadful there too. Liz tried going for her daily walk this evening. She aborted as there were more people about than she was comfortable with - she's been going 6am - but even in that short space of time she was in trouble out there chest, eyes and nose. J has also been coughing and sniffing so I reckon he's inherited that.

Finally knocked off at 8pm after hearing a thing about a thing had been done.
Asdaland not relaxing this week (unlike last). Loads more people let into the store and most folk seem to have given up on social distancing already. Took twice as long to shop as usual due to playing what felt like a deadly game of dodgems. Will be switching to online deliveries for rest of lockdown.
No communication from work about furlough so I guess I am at work as usual next week. Still no PPE issued. Despite "working from home" I still had to go out and about three out of four working days. Terrifying.
Going to try to get back to OU stuff at weekend. Not had the right headspace for it at all recently.

Oops, a bad thing may have just happened to the control arm on the stairlift.
Oddly enough they rang me today to say that they're still working through this.

Morning all!
So yesterday was fun and games with pollen with the promise of more to come today and tomorrow. There's a joy.
Despite this has a really good, relaxed comfortable afternoon and evening yesterday.
Bad night, couldn't get off and woke early. Please pray I sleep better and the aches and pains recede
Something went wrong with the stairlift yesterday and it's sitting at the top of the stairs. Pray we can sort it. Oddly the firm that supplied it gave me a call yesterday to say they were still operating.
Stay safe and stay in!

OU have decided on our course not to replace our final exam with an alternative assessment but will work out our module result based on the continuous assessment scores. Not sure how I feel about this yet. I have one away to be marked and one more to do at the end of the month. The exam usually counts for 40% of the score so how the module results will be calculated is beyond me. I will be pissed off if I end up with a low score as I had hopes to pick up on certain challenging parts of the course in the exam.
The OU have done different things for different modules. Other modules have been given different types of assessments to replace their exams.
I suspect that working this out on a module by module basis rather than having a blanket policy across the board will cause the OU (and some students) quite a lot of problems. We shall see.
If I get furloughed I can focus on studying the last book in the course and then the last essay. Finding it very difficult to do any studying currently due to impact of work related stress. I would usually have seen a Dr Quack to be asked to sign off but that is not possible in current circumstances. I've not made much headway in leisure reading either, for the same reason.

While clearing the cupboards out we've found a jar of set honey with what looks like a layer of liquid on the top. Is it still safe to use?
|
|

Post by Grand Moff Muffin on Apr 4, 2020 15:24:11 GMT
Sounds just like part of it is still in its clear liquid form. Just loosen the top, patially submerge the jar in a pot of hot water and it should all turn to clear liquid and become spreadable again.
Edit: Or the modern method (apparently) - microwave on lowest setting, with lid off, to return the honey to its clear liquid form.

It's the liquid on top I'm worried about. Don't mind the rest being solid - and it's not as solid as I thought - just don't want to waist it as I've been using a lot in hot lemon when my throat has played up.
Liz has opened the back door and OH MY GOODNESS!!!!!

Morning All!
It's Sunday, Praise the Lord!
6 1/2 hours sleep, thank you Lord and those who prayed. More please and more regularly.
Did our first Homegroup over the internet yesterday which went well. Nice to see some other faces and talk to people. Church today, also over the internet, from 10am
Have woken up today all bunged up from the pollen and a bit of a gunky mess round the eyes and throat, not a surprise and quite comforting actually. Pray that gets sorted somehow.
Really bad coughing from number 1 again last night, different child to before I think. Pray for them.
Have a good Sunday and stay safe
