Ahhhh.... I... I can't do this anymore!
I strive. I buget. I plan. I dream...
And the Lists... The endless Lists...
I try to collect one idealistic set of figures, and and and IT CHANGES! I try to collect another set, and another set, and another set- AND IT CHANGES AGAIN!
I strive, and plan, and list, and dream... dream so hard... and STRIVE.... and even have Texans strive, in their kindness, to find hard-to-find figuerues... Only for IT to laugh in my face again! (...the Collectingnessness, not the Texan).
I'm tired! Tired of The Game. The expense. The longing, the dreaming. I'm very tired. And... I think what's making me tired is the realisation that I'll never have the set of figures I want. IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN....
And... maybe it's something elses as well.... I dunno.
Maybe I'm looking at this all wrong.
But one thing I'm certain of is- I don't need boxes of untouched toys in my loft anymore.

Best to have a focus, not give in to FOMO and realise that newer isn't always better. You don't have to have everything.

I thought we'd been through this once already? Sit down and behave yourself.
Look, if you dump it all, in a year you'll be kicking yourself and then start rebuying everything. That's how it goes. You've already pretty much stopped buying toys anyway so it's not like money is going out on them.
It might be worth reorganising. I'm thinking I'm going to re-sort my Generations boxes so they're by original year as opposed to line. So instead of having CW, TR, Siege boxes etc, I'm going for '84 characters, '85 characters etc. That way I can cut the duplicates that have grown out of the last few lines but still feel a box is a complete set of characters and not an incomplete collection of one line. I need to do that really because I'm out of space and I'm feeling as I've decided to go for one toy to represent each character that I've got a bit of excess.
Has this come on because you've been telling yourself Siege was the absolute end, but now you're frustrated because Earthrise makes it feel like it isn't?

What's FOMO?

The thing that's giving me a little fatigue at the moment is knowing that I can't have all my toys out to access whenever I want. This actually isn't anything to do with the Scraplet, either - although we've certainly had to pack more away since he's arrived. But with over 1600 toys between us it was never going to be possible to have them all on display anyway - and most of the Conjunx's are still in shipping boxes from when she moved here in late 2017. That definitely dampens the enthusiasm for buying more, since I know that anything new that comes in will displace something old. Which means I'm going to have to be more picky about what I actually buy. But that could be a good thing...

(I'm not sure what FOMO, but it sounds really helpful so I've liked it to show appreciation)
No, I'm not thinking of dumping them all -well, perhaps MPs- I enjoy the ones I have, and the kids like playing with them with me.
It's the ENDLESS cycle of collecting. Wanting a particular set of figures, then being denied, and then having start all over again.
I think this might be Siege fall-out...
And I just put my hand in my coffee.

That only works if you're an Orkan.

What's an Orkan?
A quick Google search tells me it's either a word that means windstorm in 'several European languages', a type of rocket launcher, a couple of ships, a Polish writer, a village in Iran, a Swedish rock band...

Ahhhh... It's not really a case of missing out, it's more frustration at not being able to get the collection I dream of.

This I understand, certainly since what’s the point in trying to collect a line when half of it is either skipped over here by Hasbro or is an exclusive in another country? You see the good stuff, and then have to live with the burning thought that you can’t have it anyway. Better to tap out and give up early, right?

This and the fact that instead of continuing with what they started, they re-do everything and everyone in the very next line! Siege to Earthrise isn't quite as bad as all that, but it's really annoying. Siege/Earthrise certainly doesn't look good with most earlier CHUG lined.

Guys, guys! Emergency! There's two of them at it! Quick!
What is the collection you dream of, Shockers? What are you trying to achieve? One thing I'm definitely doing this week is getting all my '84 Decepticons together in their Generations forms as I think I've finally managed to get a set I'm happy with now Thundercracker and Skywarp have arrived. Bar Ravage, but that's always going to be an issue. That's a box ticked, done there.

We all go through phases of collecting. I amassed a huge 4-figure collection by 2010 across various lines but then over the next few years a lot had to go due to financial necessity, space reasons and Life Issues. Around 2012 the quality of TF's dropped through the roof and I didn't buy any and further reduced what I had. It's picked up again in the last few years and is probably at a peak again this year as the quality is good and I have too much time on my hands.
I do regret getting rid of certain stuff (ie all of Armada) though have only been able to buy back a small amount but hey ho that's life. I am moving house in about 5 weeks so in September I plan to dig everything out after the move, catalogue and sort it. Space then will be an issue for what the focus is going forwards. There will be a room for this stuff but I don't want random tubs piled to the ceiling.

I think we will get close enough. We're nearly there and we have the G1 half of Kingdom yet to come with possibly?! a fourth wave for Earthrise.
Mind you, given what happened with Siege wave 5 I think if Earthrise does turn out to be three waves, Kingdom wave one will be what was Earthrise 4 anyway.
