Yeah I'm trying to get enthusiastic about these and failing
Odds are Galvatron will be the Kingdom version, so don't need that.
Megatron at least has a class size bump but not many recent leaders have been that much bigger than Voyagers. And I have a fair few grey G1 tank Megatrons now. Gun would be nice but that ain't gonna happen.
Now a Leader, or Commander, G2 Tank Megatron with the proper G2 chest is a completely different story..... Clever the engineering to give you the option of a G1 chest by reversing the torso. Start with green, go purple for Archforce, Blue for Reverse Convoy and even a grey version. That I have money for, even though it's beyond the purview of SS86

I thought Studio Series felt like it was winding down a bit this year and indeed the number of PRs here does king of suggest they're running out of new ideas. But Constructicons..... Oh yeah. The CW versions were not quite there, sitting on the cusp of the line between new designs and screen accurate. They also weren't that good. Up for this.

Ok, what the heck does 'PR' mean? I've tried to figure it out, but I just can't.

Package Refresh
It means it's the exact same toy as the previous release, just in new packaging. Basically, a reissue.

The only thing that would excite me is a Studio Series Megatron that can be turned into Galvatron. That's what I want. And have been after since 1986. I'm not getting it.

Surely they can't use the Siege mould for this? That doesn't fit the SS86 aesthetic. It's got to be new. It also makes no sense - how can a tank Megatron be SS86?

The Siege Megatron is a Voyager, one size down from a Leader
They've previously stated Megatron guns are off the board and it would be a tank

Studio '86 can't be a gun, but Studio '86 Megatron must be a gun. 'Cos he was a gun in the ACURSED 'Movie'. Q.E.Conundrum.

I would laugh if it was upsized Siege Megs. Hasbro LOVES that mould!

The Siege Megatron is a Voyager, one size down from a Leader Yes but what does that mean these days. Give him a chair and he's a leader. Or a flight stand.

That would actually be a really clever work around. Neither particularly used their alt modes, we have a Galvatron that's perfectly serviceable, and the only really iconic thing about megatron in this movie is turning into galvatron.

Yeah, several of those PRs will be good.
Sureshot & Dinobot - I did say.
G2 Breakdown & Wheeljak - yes please. Will Wheeljack have Windsheer?
Overcharge... not wild on Leader Blitzwing but ...

I however absolutely adore leader Blitzwing.
My friend has a theory, and I'm not certain it holds weight because we don't know ANYTHING about Hasbro's plans for the minicons except there's at least two all new molds, but he thinks that the Cosmos refresh is to facilitate Wheeljack coming with his minicon.

It is certainly a cheap wave refresh with lots of molds that can't be reused elsewhere easily.
Cosmos was a major shelf warmer around here. Was he really that hard to get hold of?

Post by Llama God on Feb 23, 2024 7:59:39 GMT
Well this certainly reinforces the theory that Hasbro won't put out much that's new in order to lower expenses. Let's see how that works out for them. Also I'm predicting that those two leaders will be $60/£60 by 2025.

It was short packed/scalped to buggery and rarer then hen's teeth for many fans, especially in the US. -Ralph
