The Ravage set has the same border pattern on the box as last year's Quint Pit. That would probably make it an SDCC set so no chance of getting that one!

So, I been thinking and I don't think Ravage is the SDCC exclusive, but rather the whole set.
TFP Exclusives- nifty packaging for molds/characters that will be available later.
Devastator- Minor redeco of a retail character.
Metroplex- minor redeco plus tat.
Combiner Hunters- Extensive redeco of characters available elsewhere.
Titan Wars- same
Throne of the Primes- Extensive redeco of a character on shelves at that moment, plus tat
Quint Judge Pit- Same.
The only actually unique things I can think of with any novelty was Ghostbusters Optimus and the Knights of Unicron set.
It'd be a weird flex to retool Cheetor this extensively, as an update of an exceptionally hard to get highly wanted toy, only to make it equally hard to get.
So I think Ravage's exclusiveness is in the set, with Ravage himself getting a larger single release later on.

I don't own a Kingdom Cheetor but how does it compare [sizewise] with a G1 Ravage? Is that a Tigatron retool rather than Cheetor? I don't own a G1 Ravage. But this is definitely Cheetor, not Tigatron. It's been speculated from the start that Cheetor was designed with a Transmetal retool in mind (the tail and side panels being the primary evidence). Ravage being based on TM Cheetor means he's just a skip away from being TM Cheetor. It would also be a weird flex to retool Tigatron into Ravage and eliminate the potential for a relatively easy (and highly desired) TM Cheetor. |

I believe- 1) This will not be the only go for this Ravage (as I said above with examples of why I think this is the case) 2) This shares parts with a yet to be announced Transmetal Cheetor retool. It's been theorized from the start that Cheetor was designed with a TM retool in mind, and Ravage is most of the way there. (Although I am troubled by the amount of organic components on his beast mode, that this may be wrong) |

The more I look at this toy the more it winds me up, especially in beast mode. The robot mode nearly gets away with it..... bar the head.
Ravage's heads is much more Transmetal style than the straight beast head used here. The whole body screams Transmetal, mainly cos it was Cheetor's show model changed.
Why have they tried to do an organic version of Ravage here which looks so similar to Shadow Panther?

Are the beast and robot mode heads the same, as was the case with the original Takara version of this figure? (At least, I think they were - never had one in hand.) I've been looking back and forth between the pictures and I can't quite tell. And I don't want to make a guess because whichever way I go it will be wrong, as is my general track record with these things.
The more organic beast mode is a bit odd, but I'll get used to it I'm fairly sure. Although I do like how the packaging cheekily implies that the G1 Ravage included in the pack is actually his alt-mode...

Can't place why I really like the look of that figure when I've no interest in any of the other beast ones. Maybe because it looks a little more robotic. The beast mode doesn't match the bulkier feel of the robot.
