Huh. Just been thinking. As pleased as I was that the Siege Voyagers were mid twenty pounds, I'm disappointed the leaders are so expensive. Fifty pounds?! Magnus is more justifiable, with all his armour, white Prime etc, but Shockwave's octopussy is fairly redundant, especially in robot mode. A (hopefully) voyager figure and some parts-forming kibble for fifty quid. Fifty quid!

If unhappy then vote with your wallet either by not buying it or waiting until it is discounted. That's generally what I do these days. I can't remember the last time I bought a TF at full RRP.

What's sad, is that the gimmicks of this line have far more potential than this line will ever come close to exploiting. If only because they're so hellbent on not leaving G1. The rumors of a leader class g1 optimus. Do we really need another G1 Optimus in this line. We already have the perfect cartoon/comic styled one in this line. We got a weird one last year with a gimmick that would have been more appropriate for Powermaster Optimus. We got two powermaster versions the year before. And we got a weird combining one before that.
This Weaponizer Armor gimmick the leaders have is perfect for RiD Optimus, just like last year's leader gimmick was perfect for Armada Optimus.
Jetfire would be perfect for this line's Leader Class. G1 Galvatron, where the weaponizer armor turns him into Energon Megatron Energon Landquake, and Bulkhead Armada Tidalwave, and Energon Omega Supreme, which would basically be giant weaponizers TFP Megatron with unicron weaponizer armor
The Weaponizers themselves have more potential, too. • Fasttrack, of course • all four Actionmaster Elites • AM Treadshot • Energon Wingsaber • Cybertron Wingsaber • Movie Scorponok • Movie Ravage

Interesting to watch the video reviews for Magnus and Shockwave. They’re noticeably smaller than previous leader classes. I’m definitely still onboard for Magnus, although I do think they’ve overdone the battle damage. I’d be ok if it was just thinned down a bit. Looking at the shoulder missiles it does look like they could be pegged in more inline with the blue shoulder sections for a more traditional look, rather than raised up as they’ve been in most pictures which pleases me. On my phone just now, so not sure about embedding, but hopefully this works Magnus: Interesting reviews (although I had to watch them with no sound as Small is watching Cbeebies). Annoyed with the size comparison choices. Where were Siege Optimus and Megatron for heck's sake?! Who cares how the size compares to a Masterpiece?! Anyway, both look great, don't they. But there's some hardcore parts-forming going on there. Wow. It'd take me half an hour to transform Ultra Magnus. Ultra Magnus again does look very nice. But I still don't see an improvement over Red Thighs. The extream parts-forming puts me off. For example, I don't like the way you can see the small robot's lower legs within the large robot's (also this version can never be repainted with red thighs!). He has a huge ass with his armour on, looked to limit leg articulation a tad (better than having a huge arse-flap though). And I think I'd miss him not having slidey arms like the G1 and Red Thighs. So, gonna pass on him, I think. There is some deffinate de-sizing going on, isn't there? Not perhaps a bad thing in itself, but does pose (all important) scale issues with previous CHUG. As I stated in my exhaustive and spellbinding opening reviews of Siege Optimus and Megatron, figures like Combiners Wars Motormaster, or Red Tighs himself, do dwarf them somewhat. The whole esthetic has been de-sized. Love the look of 'em though. Love it.

I suspected seige magnus would be a similar weight to cw magnus given how complex the seige toys seem to be.

Now I see it, I'm not 100% sure how I feel about it. For me Cybertron Optimus Prime/Galaxy Force Convoy is one of the modern greats. www.tfu.info/2005/Autobot/OptimusPrime/optimusprime.htmThe vehicle might be a bit rubbish - but does fit Siege's vaguely alien vehicle theme better than many toys this year - but the figures are top notch and can't really be improved on. As I said to m'learned colleague the Llama God on TwitterAs an update it doesn't really do anything because I don't think the original really needs updating. Is this the first time an toy has had it's design used for an existing G1 character? Various BW, BM & RID characters have been done in T30 and the like but they were new to G1 characters when they were used in the comics. This is G1 Optimus as Cybertron Optimus.

I do really like how they're starting to mine other shows, and using them to augment the lines, rather than just leaning on G1, first with Magnus' God Magnus vehicle mode, and now this Galaxy Convoy, a toy which has always been a favourite.
However, I definitely take the point above. Galaxy Convoy has always been one of the best Optimus moulds for a reason, so it'll be interesting to see if this version can actually add anything, or if it'll just be a convenient way of getting a Galaxy Convoy version for anyone that missed the original.
The 5mm interaction with other Seige stuff will presumably be nice though, and it'll be interesting to see what the smaller robot adds to things. Galaxy Convoy was basically the small robot mode with bits added (nothing wrong with that), so if this is a more G1 Prime that combines with his trailer into a version of Galaxy Convoy, that's pretty cool.

Galaxy Convoy was so crap it turned me from the path of Prime completism I was on at the time. Dreadful toy.
Curious to see what a new take on it would be like though.
