That just does nothing for me. Seeing them together only serves to make Bludgeon look worse.

I think he looks fab, but each to their own
Bludgeon is very difficult to get right as a Transforming toy without compromising *SOMETHING*

I'm not feeling that Bludgeon at all. I think that it is the fact that he looks scarecrow thing which just doesn't feel right for Bludgeon to me. The fact that the new alt-mode is a distinct downgrade from various previous Bludgeon toys - the original and movie ones both turning into tanks, and this into...whatever that is.. I've got Tarn, and I think this mould makes a good Tarn. It just doesn't really work for me as Bludgeon.
Nice sword though, I do like the sword - and it is nice to see a TF toy that can get both hands to the hilt of a two-handed sword.

It doesn't help that I've never liked Tarn as a concept and character, and especially as a design. And Bludgeon looks like Autumn Harvest Camouflage Tarn.

Pumpkin Spice Tarn...
As I think I've said before, I think this mold actually works quite well for Bludgeon, being quite lean and agile - you can get some decent ninja - sorry, metallikato - poses out of him, and that works. The problem is that the only retooling they did was for the head - they couldn't even be bothered to retool the chest ever so slightly or anything. Seeing them side by side like this only highlights the laziness, and serves to put me off the toy.

Here's the post I did with all the Bludgeon's in I think it compares very well to all the others, none of which are perfect. Personally my favourite prior to this is RiD 2015 and that got the colour of the head/forearms wrong and does not have the greatest tank mode. If I'm being picky then I think I'd want the tread shoulders sticking out to the sides and a more skull like chest but the resemblance of the chest to a skull has been variable and this version is within the range of variation previously. The problem is that it is the same piece as Tarn.... I wonder if our reactions to it would be different to seeing it BEFORE we saw (and had) Tarn? But it's Bludgeon, he'll sell like hotcakes

Nah, I'd still think it was shite. I don't like Tarn either. Too flat.

The problem is that it is the same piece as Tarn.... I wonder if our reactions to it would be different to seeing it BEFORE we saw (and had) Tarn? But it's Bludgeon, he'll sell like hotcakes I doubt mine would. The design is so clearly more suited to the aesthetic of Tarn - tall, slender, no defined alt-mode because transformation isn't really meaningfully a thing in the story that he was designed for. (No disrespect intended, that was a valid authorial choice on the part of the creators). Whereas with a "The Transformers" Bludgeon, if they are keeping the "person in O-Yoroi" aesthetic of the pretender shell then that kind of requires a certain amount of apparent bulk because of the way that armour is designed. I mean, if they wanted to redesign him to look like a Shinobi or something then that would be one thing, but they have gone for wearing the full heavy armour for open-field battle look, and that shouldn't look like he is wearing a Hakama and trousers. The alt-mode would also still be just random shapes as well. But the difference is that Tarn's altmode is supposed to be an afterthought, but "The Transformers" Bludgeon's is supposed to be a definite sort of thing. So even when it isn't a terribly good tank, I do prefer when they at least try. (Also, I agree - we know that the RiD 2015 Megatronus was _intended_ to be retooled to be both Blastwave _and_ Bludgeon. They had an active intent to release both.) Karl

While the aesthetic is a turn-off, I still thing RotF Bludgeon is the best of the bunch.
Had we seen Bludgeon before Tarn, my reaction would have been exactly the same, as it's very recognizably Tarn, and as I've stated before, I'm not fond of him, and he doesn't work as Bludgeon for me. The only difference is I may have grabbed this and skipped Tarn. An okay mold as a character I like, vs an okay mold as a character I barely tolerate.
That said, give this to me as Blastwave, and I'm there!
The worst part is Bludgeon is extremely popular, and this is the year of Pretenders. Bludgeon can sell a new mold on his own. Bonzai-Tron as his retool. Tarn could have waited until the next line, with Blastwave as his repaint

It's available at a few places over here at €14.99 or thereabouts, though I know postage is going to bump that up a lot.
I'll be in the UK for a work event in mid-October though, and would be happy to bring one over and post it from London if it helps.

Well, Dreadwing has joined Strongarm and Bludgeon on the chopping block.
I'm not fond of the mold, and I'm not fond of the character, and I realized I have no reason to buy him.
