Booked for Creed III on Imax next Saturday. I hope it is not the crushing disappointment that Ant-Man 3 was.

1. Tenet: Oh my. On the one hand I am genuinely sad not to have seen this in a cinema - the cinematography and lighting just wonderful. On the other hand, seeing it from the comfort of my sofa, with a nice cup of coffee to hand and time to appreciate the way it is plotted and structured? Oh yes. Like The Prestige part of the magic is that it takes a relatively simply stated broad concept, in this case "causality is sign invariant", and runs with it to see what it can make out of it narratively. Then attaches to that all the moving parts of a James Bond movie plot, winds it up and sets it running to see what will happen. Oh yes. I can see why this would have been a terrible experience for some folks, but it was definitely very much my bag.
2. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

1. Avatar The Way of Water
2. Puss in Boots : Whatever this ones called. Still enjoy Puss in Boots.
3. Antman 3: Perfectly happy with that. Micheal Douglas was a lot of fun. New Cassie was more like young Cassie than Endgame Cassie who in the few seconds she was on screen for somehow annoyed me. Enjoyed both the bad guys. The living houses stole the show though.

Creed III (Imax): watchable but by-the-numbers. Time to rest it there, I think.

1. Babylon 2. Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania 3. M3gan 4. Scream VI (kept me interested throughout) 5. Plane 6. The Enforcer 7. 65 (not good)
'65' was half an hour shorter than Scream VI but felt a lot longer.
I thought I'd give Adam Driver a second chance after he was rubbish in Star Wars. My mistake.
Also, I thought from the trailer that it was a time-travel movie. It wasn't, and therefore it made no sense at all.
Never in all the Jurassic movie franchise have I wanted the dinosaurs to win as much as I did today.

What's your DCEU ranking list Martin? Hmmm. Well, I've only seen some of them once and a long time back, but I think my enjoyment ranking goes something like this: 1. The Suicide Squad 2. Wonder Woman 3. Aquaman 4. Black Adam 5. Suicide Squad 6. Shazam! Fury of the Gods 7. Wonder Woman 1984 8. Shazam! 9. Birds of Prey 10. Justice League 11. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice 12. 1. Avatar The Way of Water
2. Puss in Boots : Whatever this ones called.
3. Antman 3:
4. 65 - Er... a week later and Im still not sure how I feel about this one. Theres something vaguely interesting about exploring the idea of how alien the planet would be 65 million years ago. I think my main problem was seeing Sam Raimis involvement and thinking he would be directing. That really might have been interesting in a way that the actual film was not.
The back story wasnt exactly important, but it still would have been nice if it was clearer who was going, where they were going, why they were going.
There were also some continuity issues that werent quite continuity issues, bags and supplies would vanish or be lost during action scenes but always reappear later. They were never shown going back to collect them, which they must have done, however potentially risky that would be.
On the plus side, it was short, focused, with decent action and some decent jump scares. But mostly left me thinking, why?
5. The Whale - Frasers performance was great and I was quite invested at the time but Im not at all sure the rest of the film was very good.
6. RRR - finally got around to it. Last time I had a look Im sure there was no English dub available, but now there is and it was a blast. Its like Fast 5 with a dash of Taken, but also a historic musical.

Although I won't be seeing John Wick for another few hours, I suspect that is the order of increasing entertainment value for the three movies. Er, and increasing length. Martin

Saw John Wick 4 again after work. Even on a second viewing it's more entertaining than any of the other films I've seen this year. As a must-see-on-the-big-screen, it's the Top Gun: Maverick of 2023.
I thought too much about the logic holes this time, though. If I was a man on the run, trying to get from A to B across Paris, I'd put on a disguise. If I were the bad guys trying to stop a man who's not in disguise but very good at close-range combat, trying to get from A to B across Paris, I'd use many snipers.
My film would not be quite so fun to watch.

1. John Wick: Chapter 4 2. Babylon 3. Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania 4. M3gan 5. Dungeons & Dragons: Honour Among Thieves (a mixed bag) 6. Scream VI 7. Shazam! Fury of the Gods 8. Plane 9. The Enforcer 10. 65
D&D is variable, but has a lot of decent stuff in it.
Chris Pine plays the character he always plays. Michelle Rodriguez plays the character she always plays. Hugh Grant plays the character Jeff Goldblum played in Thor: Ragnarok. The other characters are more interesting, but don't get enough development. One of them goes away halfway through seemingly just because the mission would be too easy if he stayed.
I want to turn into an Owlbear.

I would have left D&D to the Easter weekend, but I realised it was only getting one week on SuperScreen before being demoted to lesser screens, to make way for some animated computer game thing.

Scream VI: Meh. Watchable but it was painfully obvious early on who was behind it all. The last act threatened to go in an interesting direction...then didn't.
I will of course be back for Scream VII. I can't resist shitty sequels. I am part of the problem.
