Took Blaise to see The Super Mario Bros Movie and I liked it more than I thought I would.

1. Avatar The Way of Water
2. Puss in Boots : Whatever this ones called.
3. Antman 3:
4. 65
5. The Whale
6. RRR
7. John Wick Chapter 4 - Work of art.
8. Shazam 2 - I think I prefer it to the original, mostly. Shame so many of the kids have pretty much aged out already.
9. Creed 3 - Enjoyable. Like Ralph said, by the book, but enjoyable.

1. John Wick: Chapter 4 2. Babylon 3. Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania 4. M3gan 5. Dungeons & Dragons: Honour Among Thieves 6. Scream VI 7. Shazam! Fury of the Gods 8. Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre (TV movie) 9. Plane 10. The Enforcer 11. 65
I read in the Observer that there was a new Jason Stathan spy movie out this week.
Looked in the cinema listings, couldn't see it. Because it's on Amazon Prime. Which I have a free month trial for at the mo.
Nice to see Cary Elwes in a leading role for the first time in over two decades, albeit on the small screen.
Mediocre, though.

Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre (TV movie) 9. Plane 10. Renfield (great joke, brilliantly executed... in the January trailer) 11. The Enforcer 12. 65
In the unlikely event that you haven't seen the trailers for Renfield but are thinking of seeing the film, either do not watch the trailers, or watch the January 2023 trailer and skip the film itself.
It's a great concept, but it's a one-gag movie, and it's a gag that is delivered quite satisfactorily in the 2-and-a-half-minute sketch that was the January trailer. It doesn't need to be unpacked over an hour and a half.

Air: I know nothing about Michael Jordan other than him being the guy in Space Jam. I have also never heard of the shoes the plot revolves around. It is also not remotely cinematic. But! I enjoyed it. Just nicely acted and scripted.
The Super Mario Bros Movie: dull cynical cash grab. Every aspect of it screams 'that will do' and the absolute bare minimum of effort. A long 92 minutes. Hard to believe it is the studio behind the vibrant and witty Despicable Me/Minions films.

10. Operation Fortune - Its a Statham film so I'm happy enough to watch it and as Martin said nice to se Cary Ewles again.
11. Dungeons and dragons - Unexpected great. Very much a lets make a Marvel film in a fantasy setting, but it works. Will happily watch more.
12. Super Mario Bros - for the first 20 or 30 minutes I was in complete agreement with Ralph. It felt rushed and disinterested, questions that very much should have been asked, just weren't. The first time they tried incorporating a Mario theme into the score I really thought something had gone with the sound system for a few seconds.
But then the last hour and a bit was a joy. Looked great and entertained. Jack Black was as good as I expected but Bowser was far better written than I had hoped for. The rest of the cast were all good to great, even Pratt (nothing special, but did nothing wrong either).

1. John Wick: Chapter 4 2. The Three Musketeers: D'Artagnan (c'est magnifique!) 3. Babylon 4. Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania 5. M3gan 6. Dungeons & Dragons: Honour Among Thieves 7. Scream VI 8. Shazam! Fury of the Gods 9. Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre (TV movie) 10. Plane 11. Renfield 12. The Enforcer 13. 65
The Three Musketeers: D'Artagnan is the best screen adaptation of the book I've seen. It's a lavish period epic, filmed on location with a cast of thousands. Eva Green was born to play Milady. And this is just the first of two parts.
But see it quickly, it won't have a long run in British cinemas because it's mostly in French with subtitles. (Except for the few scenes with English characters speaking English.)

Trailer looked rubbish so I didn't bother.
We went to see Aliens today as it was re-released. Still good.
Return of the Jedi on Saturday!

I admit to having a soft spot for a couple of the sillier Three Musketeers screen adaptations, such as the 1993 one with Charlie Sheen as Aramis and the 2011 one with Orlando Bloom as the Duke of Buckingham flying around in airships.
This year's French one is much better, though.

I've only ever liked the Muskahounds version. I'm sure it must have been great, but all I can remember about it now is that the theme song got the Musketeers' motto the wrong way round. Martin

It was magical to see Return of the Jedi on the big screen again for the first time since the Special Edition was out...26 years ago. I feel old.
Nyub nyub!
There was some passive aggressive shit from the cinema where they keep putting the lights on full during the end credits and advanced with bin bags. The audience stayed in the seats. The lights would be off again and the staff retreated, and so on.
I am a Jedi, like my father before me!
I now have overwhelming ROTJ nostalgia. Are these Retro figures out...

I have my suspicions (no evidence) that the boxed set of the six figures that complete the original twelve will be a May the Fourth day Pulse exclusive. That's well past due.

1. John Wick: Chapter 4 2. The Three Musketeers: D'Artagnan 3. Babylon 4. Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 35. Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania 6. M3gan 7. Dungeons & Dragons: Honour Among Thieves 8. Scream VI 9. Shazam! Fury of the Gods 10. Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre (TV movie) 11. Plane 12. Renfield 13. The Enforcer 14. 65 OK, as someone who liked Rocket Raccoon in the 1980s, which is more than I can say for many other characters that the MCU has adapted for screen, this film leaves me with a _lot_ to process.
I think it warrants a second viewing to properly absorb.
It certainly provoked an emotional reaction in me, and probably exactly the one intended by the film's makers. Martin
