I had nothing to do with the flood!
The movie was great by the way. I just needed to shut off my own conceptions of Cybertrons past and the war etc. and just enjoy the story for what it was. Absolutely stunning visuals all the time and a couple of heartfelt moments.

It is without question now my second favorite TF movie, nipping on Bumblebee's heels.
It doesn't have the heart and emotional resonance that Bumblebee had, but it's thick in well written lore, great voice acting, great voice CASTING, and a strong and engaging plot.
I'm not sure this is a continuity that I want to see more of, but it's a highly enjoyable stand alone movie.

Still not clear when I'll be able to see it in English in Berlin, but they've got my daughter on board now with the newly released tie-in song by Yuqi (a member of one of her favourite K-pop groups): www.youtube.com/watch?v=pmJbtcuP3D0

The first trailer in no way accurately represents the released film.

It underperformed against industry expectations and pre-release tracking on the opening weekend. Nowt to do with any reporting. It is a fact. From there, the film has not shown legs in its US release so has not been a financial success in the theatrical environment. Whether inyernational and home markets will help it move into profit over a longer period remains to be seen. -Ralph

Ooh, that was a good film! Lots of elements we've seen before, but with nice, fresh takes on them. Character-spotting was fun. I daresay that this, like Bumblebee, is the film that many people would have liked to have seen in 2007. If I had one quibble, it would be that D-16 went too quickly from nice guy to supervillain . Actually there is another quibble but minor: another "I am Optimus Prime" speech at the end, for me an eye-rolling cliche. But I liked the cheeky nod to The Touch early on.

Going to see it again tomorrow.
Yes. I am actually wanting to see a 21st century Transformers film again in the cinema. The world has turned upside down.

Going to see it tomorrow with Burns. He has convinced me to go to some mystical 4Dx showing. I have not been feeling very well this week. This could get interesting.

My love for TF:TM knows no bounds. I can watch it again and again though admit I have no critical faculties deployed as it made such a big impact on me as a child. I have owned many copies of it...
...but as a *film* in general, I think that TFONE is actually...
...better.
The plot, characterisation, quality of storytelling and direction are faultless. Great world building, characters I care about, witty dialogue, fantastic action sequences. It has thematic depth and width.
The initial trailer could not have mis-sold this film more if they had tried!

Saw it this evening. Fantastic. Enjoyed it all the way through.
And was a good film to see in 4Dx actually. Much fun hanging on to my seat for dear life.

I’ll get round to seeing it at some point, possibly when it hits Blu-ray. I am so much fussier about animated films than I am with live-action and tend to see about one every two years in the cinema (approx. one animated film per forty live-action). I liked the animation style in TMNT: Mutant Mayhem and this year loved Batman: Caped Crusader on Amazon Prime, but things like Into the Spider-verse and Lower Decks leave me cold. Combine that with my strong feelings about TFs having human characteristics and concepts before coming to Earth and learning them from humans, and I know I’ll be harsher on One than it deserves. But I’m delighted people are happy with it, and that the trailers don’t represent it fairly, which gives me hope! Edit: I don’t think a film about TFs on Cybertron before coming to Earth as I like to think of them would be either makeable or watchable. Edit edit: This is probably going to be the next animated film I watch on the big screen: m.youtube.com/watch?v=sd1EFHbvBZsMartin

Is it having a cinema release? As far as I know, it's on BBC at Christmas before going on to Netflix shortly after.

Saw this with Daughter No. 2 (8) & Son (11), I think they were a bit dazed by all the fights! So much action. Great world building as had been said - this is a great new take from my point of view. We have so much baggage when it comes to Transformers, I just hope the target audience enjoy it. My only real dislike is the way they run around with their big clompy feet. There's no way around this, it's the design after all. {Spoiler}what I really liked is the way Megatron evolved from a simpler bucket head to the uber villain of the last part. The three steps worked well. OK, I also didn't like Shockwave being a whiny wimp. And so many Easter eggs to spot, especially in the dialogue.

This is a topic that I've always wanted to bring up (and I'm sure the posts will be moved to TFOne or their own thread now ive started) but I've always wanted/thought that the Transformers should be incredibly alien before coming to Earth - something incomprehensible to us, looking like Ratchets repair sleds and other machinery and communicating in radio waves etc. But obviously this wouldn't make for good fiction. But then I realise I am much more forgiving of humanoid Star Trek/Star Wars/Doctor Who aliens looking, living and behaving not that differently to humans. So am I being too strict on Transformers simply because they are robots?

There are certainly things to nitpick about Vulcans and Klingons being so similar to humans, because it's so unlikely that evolution would result in the same shaped intelligent biological creatures on different planets - though they did explain it in a TNG episode that concluded all those species actually had common a origin.
But robots are different because they aren't a product of biology, they are constructed, so they should be all kinds of different shapes, tailored to their function. If you're building a mining robot, its form would be optimised for its job, and it would look very different from a maintenance robot, transport robot, military robot, etc.
Star Wars does robots quite well in this regard, actually, even though some have humanoid characteristics (because they're designed by humanoids or are intended to interact with them). Cybertronians have no excuse not to be at least as diverse in their forms as droids in Star Wars.
