Is it just me or is the design for all THREE Leaders (Jetfire and both Megs) a little bit "off message" for the Generations line? I can't quite put my finger on why but there's something there..... Almost everything about generations has been off, post DotM. It was only just relatively recently the deluxes and voyagers started to get on track. Leaders haven't been attempted by the current team until now.

My view was a lot of FOC was iffy but they'd been hitting it out the park from the start of the 30th line.
No, it's more a design thing. There's something about the Leaders that look wrong, and not TF. Can;'t put my finger on it.

I tell you what I would like to see done with the Leaders: Powermaster Optimus Prime Ultra Magnus Both using the same cab (deluxe? Voyager?), but combine with different trailers to form Leader class toys. I know MP Magnus would probably kibosh this for a bit but.... I been daydreaming about this for years. G1 style trailer that turns into PM style upgrade for a G1 style cab. Recycle some of the trailer parts with new, to make a G1 UM trailer, to help cut costs a little.

There's something about the Leaders that look wrong, and not TF. Can;'t put my finger on it. They're over photoshopped for one, and that doesn't help at all. But the gen AOE leaders suffer the same issues, too. I think it's proportions, and fake kibble, is some of it. Jetfire's fake chest really hurts him. Megatron has terrible proportions, too. Grimlock has the worst proportions i ever seen for a nearly $50 toy. Optimus wears his entire alt mode on his back (but that is hard to tell if it's such a shitty design that it's impossible to replicate, or if the designers just have no clue what they're doing.)

I'm relieved to say that I really like leader-class Megatron! He won't look out of place in a Lost Light gathering. It's only a pity he'll be so much bigger than Whirl The Armada version I'm less interested in because to my mind it's not as good as the original. Brainstorm looks fantastic. Arcee and Chromia look fantastic. The wee legend dudes look excellent. Prime... I think I'll have to see in person to make a decision. Overall, pretty happy! -Nick

I was happier with the Megatron when I thought he was a deluxe or voyager, now I'm really not sure! I guess I'll need to see him in the plastic!

Someone on TFW noted that the new Prime has a sort of G2 comic vibe about him.
He's not wrong and it makes me like it a little more.

Well, I'm glad to see that these things weren't just a hallucination brought on by driving 450 miles and then drinking. Except for that Voyager Prime. I wish I'd just imagined him. I know that IDW had some really poor editorial control over the artwork during the AHM years, but all the same I don't remember Prime ever looking that bad. Why couldn't they have just up-scaled his Legends toy, 'cos that had so much potential. This new Voyager is horrible. I'll get it anyway, but it's horrible.
As for Leader Megs, I'm also a little disappointed that he's not more IDW-influenced, given they've gone with a tank mode and everything. But I'm with the others - I think, for display reason, he might do as a replacement for the original MP Megs in my MP display - he'll just take up less space, and might scale better than the original now does, given the post-MP-10 re-scaling.
And although I can't stand Armada, and won't be getting the Armada Megs myself, I'm really pleased to see that they've done it. It's a nice looking repaint, and they're catering to fans of the Armada line, so I think that's a good thing.
All in all, this is a nice lot of reveals.

Yes, but if you are going G2, go all-out G2. The face reminds me of something comic-related, but I'm not quite sure what.

So the Optimus is voyager but the Megatron is leader. Well that's a bit daft! Who're they gonna fight? There's no corresponding Op for Megs or Megs for Op! Unless Megatron will display with MP-10 as a Masterpiece stand-in. Which I'm not sure he will.

The leader class toys have been getting smaller for a while now where the voyagers have been steady and possibly gotten bigger so there might not be that much of a difference. Megatron to my mind should be a little bigger than Prime so it might work out.

But yeah I think Megatron has been made with the role of Masterpiece Megatron stand in in mind.

Is it possible then they're keeping the Superion reveal for SDCC? they did seem to show a lot yesterday. I'm thinking from what we've seen Generations is covered for at least 9/10 months.

On my screen the Minicon peg on Megatron's shoulder is 3mm wide (so 60% of scale) The toy is 18cm high, but the legs are posed so assume 21cm straight. Divide his height (21cm) by 3 (7cm), multiply by 5 and he's aprox 35cm tall. Surely not... 35cm? That's enormous. That's old school sizes. 35cm now is almost twice the height of a Voyager. He'd look ridiculous and the tank would be totally out of scale with anything. I'd put money on 22/23cm for Leaders. Springer's only 18. Otherwise they'll just be too big. How big are the AOE leaders?

The aoe leaders are one to two heads taller than the voyagers. I've never compaired them side by side, though. But They're really more comparable with universe ultras, than UT or previous movie leaders.

Just measured 35cm against Quakewave and MP-10. That's bonkers big! I really hope Megatron's no where near that big. He wouldn't fit into any collection! Same size as MP-10, ten inches ish, a coupla heads taller than the recent voyagers. Max.

But yeah I think Megatron has been made with the role of Masterpiece Megatron stand in in mind. Really? Yes, yes you may be right. If a 3P company made some kind of add-on to improve his legs.... I love the face/head sculpt.... chest has too much red on it, but the multi-toned grey colour looks good.

Feel free to check my calculations. There might be a cm or two out due to estimating the straight height but smallest he can be is about 30cm.

The thought occurs...... are the CW Leaders coming to the UK? I'm unsure about paying import to get either Megatron but UK retail..... maybe.

If the Legends have, the leaders may well too. Why stop short of the full set if you're experimenting with a line? I'm encouraged by the fact Amazon have picked them up, surely they'll give us the lot?
Come to it though - where are these leaders? The Megatrons seem to have vanished. The more I look at the excellent balance between Autobots and Decepticons in the Deluxe/Legends classes it would make SO much more sense if Megatron was a Voyager Combiner torso. The two factions would be in perfect balance then.
It's almost like Megatron was supposed to be a case mate for Jetfire, and Armada Megatron & Thundercracker the repaints. A Leader Megs now just doesn't fit with what Combiner Wars is doing.

I'm not really bothered about megatron as part of CW, aside from anything else id hate to see the current MTMTE dynamic messed with. But it would be kind of cool if leader megs has CW ports (Metroplex style, shame generations metroplex didnt come out a bit later im sure he would have had cw ports if he had) in place of armada megs minicon pegs.

Does strike me as odd that the leaders were due this month and whereas everything else has come out, we haven't even seen a picture of the actual Megatron toy.

G1 Megatron does indeed look better, but only just. But then the benchmark was set really low.

Armada Megatron always looked rubbish. *ducks out of the way of various projectiles* But cheap shots aside, yeah, I'm liking the look of that Megatron. I'd really like to see one in hand before I commit to getting it, but it's not looking too bad. And if Smyths are going to be getting them in at the new price of "not too silly" like they have with the other CW figures so far, I could definitely be tempted.

It looks like Combiner Wars will be everywhere. Hopefully that will include Argos which almost guarantees sale prices at some point. My only issue with Megatron is how big its going to be. I don't really need a Megatron that towers over everything else. Though I guess it explains why Prime needs to combine. If that is the logic I wonder if Armada Megatron is a sign that a certain AEC Prime is to be expected?

Worries me slightly that he now seems to have tank tracks behind his head whereas he didn't before, but yes, I think Leader Megs is a goer. Would love to see him here in shops for £39.99. Armada Megs is doing the right thing, but he's too thin. I'm wondering if wave two is coming so soon after wave one so they can have two complete combiners on the shelves, and that we then get quite a gap before Defensor comes out. Going by last year there were five waves of deluxes from the Waspinator wave, which came at the same time as the Wave One CW deluxes in the Christmas rush. So do we anticipate five waves this year? it was supposed to be 16 deluxes and four voyagers wasn't it? but I can't remember if that included Superion or not because he had already been announced when that '16/4 more to come' was said. If it did then we're already full with Superion, Menasor, Defensor and Prime's crew. Four waves, but actually the same number of deluxes as last year because two of the five waves only had two new figures in. Reallllllly hope there's a Bruticus for 2016 so we don't have to fit the FoC one in to this.
