If you lok at the original Armada Galvatron pictures the treads are there then. They're the one's at the front on each side of the tank. I'm guessing they're folded away differently on the original Megatron pictures.

You can just about see them if you look closely between body & arm in this picture here

Important thing about Megatron: Remember, new/modern leaders are now on par with universe ultras than they are the oldschool leaders. So he's not going to be THAT huge.
I'm not AS upset about Megatron being a leader class, as I am with the fact that he's now double the size of every other Decepticon. Starscream and the seekers are all deluxe, the insecticons are legends, the stunticons are deluxe, as are likely the constructicons. And we're STILL waiting on soundwave and shockwave. My distaste for him being leader would be mitigated if we got an ej su idw seeker in voyager scale.

Liking the looks of Air-Raid and Breakdown particularly. Motormaster and Blackjack will also be mine.
Oddly enough, my only thoughts on Megs are that I was under the impression this one had an optional Autobot insignia.

Nothing's ever been said about an autobot sticker?

Coulda swore there was supposed to be something like a reversible panel, like on the Generations Dinobot.

I need gen dinobot as grimlock. Have the symbol switch between either autobot/maximal, or dinobot/maximal.

I'm guessing they're folded away differently on the original Megatron pictures. Yeah, but Armada Megatron is supposed to have big treads sticking up either side of his head. That works. But as you've pointed out, it's either a mistransform in the Megatron pic or an option to have it either way as per the other photo. Which is cool. I'm looking forward to the silver Megatron, he does look cool. But as Crazy says, he really isn't going to fit with anything. We're used these days to Megatron being pportrayed as bigger than Prime, so the Voyager/Leader bit will just about work there, but having none of his chief minions at Voyager size will hurt the display. I don't think Blitzwing/Doubledealer bring much to that party, so it's down to Motormaster to bulk out the display in the post FoC Generations era. I would suggest FoC Soundwave could be a stand in for a proper one, but I know Mr Jetty wouldn't have that and I don't think he really fits. Curiously the Blaster from that mould could be a goer though. Man, I'd love a Voyager/Leader Shockwave now. But what chance is there given he's a gun? He is so desperately missing from this whole line. The FoC one is one instance of those figures where I do agree with everyone else, his representation in that continuity was completely wrong. Prime did rectify that, but I still want a proper Generations Shockers. There's a 3P challenge. Fill that niche Mastermind. Toyworld. DX9. Someone.

Better mold than the foc. And bh shockwave as a placeholder until we get a g1 shockwave. Though I'll probably replace it with the better Energon Shockblast once I find my copy.

Nice, not as bad as I feared, but still big.
Still the United Megatron I got from Phil decided to explode (well one of the legs at least) so a new Megatron may be of use.

I was trying to move one of the legs and instead of the hip moving the thigh just cracked. It was very GPS like.
I can glue it no problem, but if the hip joint remains so tight I imagine it will rebreak every time.

That is a bit too big I feel. The CW Leader Megatron that is. I'll be sticking with Hegemon as my 'Classics' Megatron.

Will work if carefully posed I think. There's no getting away from the fact the shoulder joints do look gappy, and those legs are never going to be quite right. The rest is very nice.
It is also just too big though. Doesn't need to be a Leader. Ironic I know given the name of the scale, but he just don't fit. Almost tempted to go for the Armada one as a one off curiosity and leave the silver version.

Megatron's chest and head are good, but the rest is a pass for me. I agree he shouldn't be leader sized. Voyager would be much better, combinery or not.

Y'know, I really am thinking now I'll spring for the Armada one - because he is supposed to be a tank, and in that line the Megatron was significantly bigger than Prime (without his trailer armour). I need a Voyager Megs for the Generations shelf.

The armada one angers me soooo much because it feels soooo lazy. New head, and that's all. Especially now seeing how the chest could have been so easily redone. A few extra joints in the tank tread kibble sould have had it extend up above the shoulders (similar to maketoy's laserrod optimus mold). And the ability to put his cannon on his waist like Armada. I do not feel these alterations would have been prohibitively expensive changes to have built into the mold. If you look at this and proper armada megs, it's obvious the mold was designed with him in mind as much as G1 megatron. Minicon ports, a lot of little details in the arms and legs, and the way it breaks down colorwise. So it's like they decided to run the boston marathon, and then stop at a coffee shop and quit the race, about a thousand feet from the finish line.
Also, if that g1 megatron had a bigger cannon, and a black helmet, I would be so all over it.

I think that G1 Megatron need a piece to slide over the missile end of the cannon to make it look more like the original Megatron's cannon.

It's the legs I can't cope with. G1 Megatron had an excuse for narrow legs. Theres no excuse for a tank Megatron and thankfully in 23 years of tanks non has been needed till this one. Actually in truth it's not a problem here, they are just about acceptable, or they would be if the arms hadn't been made thicker than the legs (at least in the photos).
So the arms are the problem. Or maybe the torsp is too blocky. Ah I don't know the whole thing looks awkward.
Assuming either makes it to UK retail I expect I'll buy at least one version if I find them for £25 or less.

I think that G1 Megatron need a piece to slide over the missile end of the cannon to make it look more like the original Megatron's cannon. Looking at the TFW photos it really does look like the cannon was meant to be spun around as it is in one of the photos. here it is. That is Megatrons Fusion Cannon. Maybe the powers that be decreed the missile firing gimmick should be shown as usable in robot mode as well as tank. I'm assuming that it does fire to start with.

.....it's like they decided to run the boston marathon, and then stop at a coffee shop and quit the race, about a thousand feet from the finish line. I think this is a brilliant analogy and sums up this Megatron for me. They've come so close, so close that they should have gone those extra feet, and finished the job.

Because I am, if nothing else, tight. But I'm not sure I agree with everyone else on how bad it looks. For a non-Masterpiece toy, I think it looks pretty good. But I will be waiting to see what one looks like first-hand before making a final decision. Unless of course Takara finally get around to announcing Masterpiece Megatron whilst we're waiting for Generations Megatron to row his way across the pond.

I like the look of Leader 'G1' Megs quite a bit but not at the price point it will be if it ends up in the UK.

Megatron doesn't combine does he? I've look over the post - if he doesn't combine why is he in the combiner wars line, But then about Thundercracker? I know the other all form guns (Powerglide/Bombshell etc)

The leader class toys aren't built to combine as I understand, although they can interact with the folk who turn into guns and such I would assume. I think they're only under the same banner as Combiner Wars because they're not part of the new RiD line.
