I'm having both those Megatrons too. I'm really not feeling Armada megs at all. It really doesn't work for him. And I don't think the official pics are doing justice to Arcee or g1 Megs.

Agreed. The bend in Megatron's knees is making the legs look bowed in the picture. If they were just straight he'd look more imposing. The curve in the shin is worrying but the torso is great. Maybe the fusion canon could be bigger.

Yeah... Megatron's iffy. I'm wondering if it's one of those that doesn't photograph well, but is amazing in hand, or if it just doesn't work. The canon certainly doesn't do it any favors. I'd have rather they give him a clip on fusion canon, and the tank barrel stow away on his right back shoulder, like the gun barrel of the original.

Megatron's cannon needs to look like G1 Megatron's cannon.
Honestly the best Megs cannon we've had since then was packed with Energon Ravage!

I love the head, face and torso, especially the torso.... legs are terrible... and the gun is a joke. I agree with many that the Armada version doesn't work. But the G1 version might.... If one only looks at him from the hips up. Yeah I think Megatron is mostly bad photography as Armada Megatron looks far better posed. I would have thought one clear advantage of tank over gun is the elimination of Megatro0ns thin legs and yet here.... Very odd. Not bad as such, but any time you have arms that are wider than the legs you get something a little bit odd. It is lacking in the fusion cannon department. I actually quite like the Armada version.

Oh wow, yes, that's a massive improvement. It just pushes everything into the right place. The one thing I didn't like about the original was the head, and that one fixes that totally. So if Takara are bringing the equivalent Prime out again, maybe this will come too.

Tank Megatron:
Looking at it the arms are former from the sides of the turret with the front of the turret forming his shoulders. That means there's a Minicon port on his left arm, the one visible to us, but not on his right, the one with the cannon :-(
Both wrists have peg holes.
The tank rear weapons combine if you look at the robot mode gun.
I don't feel the Armada version: it'll be the G1 one I get.

Armada Megatron is an obvious repaint but it does show the thrilling 30 incarnation of Generations is continuing to run through the various eras. Wonder if there'll be any more Armada figures or if this is just a way of reusing the mould.

Don't forget this is the SECOND after Starscream.
There's been another Armada remake previously: Hot Shot in Universe 2.

Oh yes, of course. Mind you, those two stood together wouldn't look right at all. Be like Honey I shrunk the Starscream. Or Honey I blew up the Megatron.

I'll say there's a few third parties that are going to miss out on my money now...

I like Megatron- hips up (sorry Megs, darling, your hips just aint working for me, baby). Well, it's actually the lower legs, the thighs are ok, and the, er, crotch area is very G1 looking (work that ass, Megs, baby! Work it!)
I think for me, it's gonna be a a toss up between this new Generations Megatron, the recent 3P IDW/Infiltration Megatron, or my existing Hegemon, which frankly does a great job for me.
He's 'voyager' right? He'll tower over Classics Op, a smaller 'voyager'. Which is a problem.
I can't believe how crap that new Optimus looks. Horrible colouring, terrible arms..... At least he doesn't have an arse-flap.....

No. Megatron's a Leader so substantially bigger than a Voyager
Op's growing on me.
As is Brainstorm now I've sat and compared him to the old one

I think one of the things that hurts megs is the "real working treads!" It hurts the budget by waisting resources for minimal gain, limits the transformation abilities, and in this case without it, the legs could have been beefier.
I'll reserve judgement on superion until we actually see it. FoC Bruticus came out horribly, after all. While I hope I'm wrong, I sense Superion probably won't be much of an improvement.

And the treads will be rubber and thin which is gonna hurt their long term durability.

Would much MUCH rather have better lower legs and a better Fussion cannon.

Megatron's Leader class..... Hadn't realised that at all.
My mind's awhirl with possibilities.....

On my screen the Minicon peg on Megatron's shoulder is 3mm wide (so 60% of scale)
The toy is 18cm high, but the legs are posed so assume 21cm straight.
Divide his height (21cm) by 3 (7cm), multiply by 5 and he's aprox 35cm tall.

Is it just me or is the design for all THREE Leaders (Jetfire and both Megs) a little bit "off message" for the Generations line? I can't quite put my finger on why but there's something there.....

I tell you what I would like to see done with the Leaders:
Powermaster Optimus Prime Ultra Magnus
Both using the same cab (deluxe? Voyager?), but combine with different trailers to form Leader class toys. I know MP Magnus would probably kibosh this for a bit but....
