It's an evolution disappointment...
Apart from that core Beast Machines Cheetor. Which given the history of BM Cheetor toys will probably also be a disappointment.

Well this was a very annoying set of reveals - there's not a single G1 figure in there! I'd not picked up on that during the leaks, that is a bit odd. They'll be some later I'm sure and we can gripe about them then Hurrah! I'm a white, middle-aged British man - complaining about things is my RIGHT! But yeah, it's really quite nice to not see the same old things rehashed yet again. It's certainly not unwelcome...

Phil needs to use this new list to update the previous who's from where list. That would be useful.

I will.
I need to check where I got to with that, it went on the back burner for some reason, possibly related to needing to split up certain multipacks from different sources

I like how we all puzzled over what this new Leader Optimus Prime is and it turns out to be a PR of Laser G2 Prime from two lines ago.

My wallet is happy with this wave.
I never much cared for Rock Lords, but Rock Lords that aren't even rocks? What? (There must be a demand for them, though, as Bouldercrash is sold out on Pulse UK.)
Very little nostaglia factor (for we first generation fans).
I already have the previous Laser Prime release.
There are some nice designs, but none of them screaming for me to buy them. I could quite happily leave this entire line and pick them up cheap down the line, but there are a few I'll get straight away: Animated Optimus, Tigerhawk, Energon Megatron and Tasmania Kid. Even then, it's the cartoon-based colours that swing it for me with Tigerhawk, whose beast mode looks much as clunky as the original, and Tasmania Kid is more "nice to have" rather than "must have"; Megatron just looks fun. I like that they're doing a good-sized Animated Optimus with a face.
Chase is an almost-buy. It's a nice toy. But it doesn't fit with the chunky preschool toys and is on its own in Generations, so I'll just wait and hope I can get him cheaper sometime.
I like how Hasbro has cheekily used BWII Universe rather than BW to get around the Snarl name!

If you check the leaked images thread I've broken down the entire year by source and you can see how every animated series has a representative in this years line tmukhub.proboards.com/post/505582/thread. There is more than 1 G1 character, inevitably, but less than in recent years with neither waves 1 or 3 having none. In Theory you could have evened it out to make sure there was one in each wave but I'm guessing there's some other factors governing who can be where with overall costs and who is a repaint/retool/partial of who

I like how Hasbro has cheekily used BWII Universe rather than BW to get around the Snarl name! I mean between the two, Tasmania Kid has the higher profile. He was the "Kid Appeal" character to an entire cartoon, while Snarl has never been used in anything, aside from a cameo in the terrible "BW: The Gathering" comic. I don't think this is a case of "let's not step on sacred G1's toes"

Most Western people won't know the Japanese character. Most of those same people don't know who Skywarp or Lioconvoy are, either. But Hasbro has a track record now of going with BWII.

You will observe that all but one of the photos are of robot mode. The description talks up the latter. I don't understand. All I see is a discussion about colour and head sculpts. It's the way the feet just kinda fold over that seems out of place, and don't know what the back of the cab is like. All these photos of the truck at the same angle just leaves me with the impression that from other angles it's not quite so favourable.

The catch is that Thundertron is a nobody, even in his original line. While a lot of people thought he was a cool toy (he was), he never got used anywhere, and I know of no one who's chomping at the bits for a new Thundertron, over a much more beloved character like Brakedown or Airachnid. So the only thing that makes sense is that he's a repaint/retool of an existing mold, or he's a pretool for someone more popular. And honestly? Leobreaker makes the most sense. They have similar stylings, and is near identical in robot mode parts layout. I think someone's cracked it: www.tfw2005.com/boards/threads/legacy-united-voyager-thundertron-prime-universe-bts.1253888/#post-21721431Cyberverse Thunderhowl tfwiki.net/wiki/Thunderhowl#Cyberverse

Thunderhowl is still on some shop shelves (in ultra and deluxe varieties). Cyberverse just finished last year. Surely it is far too early to mine that line for Generations? Too early for nostalgia.

The leaks suggest that there are two further Cyberverse toys in United, one of whom never got a proper Cyberverse toy, just a Tiny Changer, as far as I can see

In this fandom that refuses to allow new characters in its mainline (Generations), it is absolutely vital to take and preserve the original characters and original concepts from the non-G1 continuities and shows. Particularly the "disposable" ones (meaning the ones that Hasbro and the fandom are most likely to ignore ever existed) like Cyberverse and RiD2015, as most of those are over run with G1 legacy characters.
We're always gonna see Bumblebee appear again. But Clobber? Not so much. Particularly when she'd be in competition with the better known TFA Lugnut.
We need Meteorfire, Thunderhowl, Wildwheel, and the other new characters to be lifted out of Cyberverse, more than we need another Megatron.
