I wonder what uses there could be for a detachable foot in general. Flying kicks?

If you get Windblade, be careful, as her head fan weapon is very losable before you put it on her. It's very easy to forget it exists when you're dealing with the paper the accessories are wrapped in.
As for Windblade herself, she is a very competent Windblade figure. If you do not have a Windblade, then she works very well. However, she sadly brings nothing new to the table that you can't already get from the nurid warrior, titans return, or t30 figures.

As I feared from the pictures. Oh well. I'll get her anyway, of course - for completeness.

So except Thundertron, I now have the whole first wave.
AniBee legit surprises me at how compact he is in vehicle mode.
AniPrime is fantastic. If you loved AniProwl, you'll love him. Now I wish for Bulkhead (never will happen thanks to "prime" bulkhead) and Ratchet to complete the set. It also made me realize to have true scaled decepticons, most of them will need to be Commander class.
The rock cars exist. As usual, they're ruined by the "izer" gimmick.
But Chase is the surprise. I love him as much as Optimus. He also has a really clever and inventive transformation.

I wonder what uses there could be for a detachable foot in general. Flying kicks? Since this conversation I have discovered that there is a Mobile Suit in Gundam: The Witch from Mercury which can actually launch its foot to fly off on the end of a cable (what is known as a "Bit"), to wield a beam saber blade and attack its opponents from a different angle to the rest of the suit. This is clearly what Thundertron needs - a cable to remote control the foot... If Hasbro won't oblige then I am aware of a 30 Minute Missions customisation kit which will yield suitable flexible wire for this purpose... Karl

The foot has a sabre? Does it have a hand to hold it?

Nope, I think that the beam emitter is integrated into the foot, the blade is just projected from the foot . In a similar but different way to how one of the Reconquista in G designs has beam saber emitters in the spike heels of its platform legs...

As those on the call last night can testify, I had some grief transforming Tasmania Kid.
Remember that the robot arms become the rear beast legs will help you get the internal bits out the way of the legs coming forward inside the body and the feet forming the head
TF'd Tigerhawk tonight. That was a challenge.
Thundertron to go ....

Tazmania Kid is OK when you know.
Tigerhawk.... maybe not. We'll see when you next visit because I'm aware you want his repaint when it happens

I know they felt they had to un-deform his vehicle mode, but those tires in particular just look wrong...
Otherwise, even though I’ve never liked Gears with a face, this looks fine.

Yep, same thoughts here. The robot mode looks... fine. I mean it looks like Gears. It's fine. But those alt-mode wheels just look janky as hell. Especially more so given that one of them is mistransformed IN THE ACTUAL OFFICIAL PICTURES. That doesn't sell me on these being particularly sturdy, and definitely shoves it straight into "wait for a sale" territory for me. Also interesting is the number of 5mm/COMBAT COLIN/EVO-FUSION!!!!/whatever ports in vehicle mode, which they seem to be cutting back on these days (I think - I could be wrong) which makes me wonder if this was indeed actually created for Kingdom but held back until now for whatever reason. Oh, and his chest opens. Like in that episode. I guess. Which seems to be a thing worth mentioning on the box. Because of like in that episode. I guess.

The ability to go up a price point to justify all the intricacies and extra conversion steps needed to make a truly accurate cartoon Gears has certainly resulted in... this, I guess?
Of course I'll buy it. Eventually.

The same thing jumped out at me about Thundertron last week - he has at least 5.

Because of one episode of the cartoon where they literally flipped a switch under there which cheered him up.

Oh my god I just figured out the joke in his name. His being a 4W Drive offroad truck, his name being Gears, and him being cranky are all related. 4WD, he's Gears because of the gearshift. He's cranky because everything "really grinds my gears."
