Didn't they already *do* that set as an SDCC exclusive?

Kind of, but it was missing Sludge.

B*stards! I spent a chuffing fortune putting that set together!
Still, at least I have the Ark. That's the fun part really. Actually, it looks like this platinum set has some minor colour changes. There is more shiny gold vac metal in the SDCC one, Snarl particularly.
I can see this going down like a lead balloon. I like those figures, they're a nice set together in the G1 colours, but I think everyone's done with AoE aren't they?

Welp. I'm done with Swoop, Snarl, and Sludge. Those three are mediocre at best. Not terrible, but not enough to make me want more than the standard retail versions. Grimlock... I couldn't stomach either voyager or leader. So no interest there. Wouldn't mind seeing more of Slag. Scorn I'd buy every version I could. But he's not included. Slash is rubbish.

Scorn is the odd one from that set. First out, then seemingly first to be retired. Initially it felt like he'd be a shelf warmer because he was everywhere, then as soon as he dried up the secondary market price soared and he hasn't been revisited by Hasbro. Then the later ones I guessed wrongly would be rarities - like Slash - are now ten a penny because everyone gave up with that line after the first couple of releases. I think you're right, Scorn probably is the best mould of those seven, but because he has no G1 connection he's been forgotten by Hasbro since.

Finally, we can get the AoE Dinobots in G1 colours, but without the burden of a really cool Ark playset!
No, wait...

No surprise here. The 'Dinobot G1 reissue set' rumour was just that: a rumour. One chap on the internet with no secondary sources or pictures was all we had to go on. So no disappointment for me.
It looks like a nice set of something that personally doesn't interest me.

I can understand how the confusion arose here with either the Hasbro rep saying G1 Dinobots when he meant G1 decoed AoE Dinobots or the original recipient of the info having misheard. Either way you can see how the story emerged from what we have here.
Still want a G1 Dinobot reissue set though!

Well, the core substance of the rumor - "Hasbro are going to do a Platinum Reissue set of Dinobots" is true. There is a set of reissue Dinobots, in the Platinum Line and Hasbro are doing it.
I suspect that those folk who assumed that there was no possibility that any of the various Dinobots other than the Diaclone moulds could be used for such a thing...are probably feeling a little bit disappointed.
I'm not fussed one way or another - I wasn't planning to get a set of whichever Dinobots they were reissuing - but I do feel for those folk who had built up a lot of expectation on some very unstable ground.

Only just found out about the new heads. They make such a difference. Theres still a bit to much unbroken red on Swoop and maybe Snarl, but otherwise they look great. Really glad I only got around to opening Sludge now, the rest will be new toys for me.

If it ever hits bricks and mortar retail and I have spare cash and am drunk I know full well I will buy this set. Otherwise I will be fine..

$110 is pretty good for five Dinobots given two are Voyagers, but that'd be plus CUTA and postage. I've had my hissy fit about those now. I've looked and thought and come to the conclusion, with no sour grapes what so ever, that G1 heads look silly on the AoE bodies. I really thought they'd produced the set I actually wanted when I first saw those, but I honestly don't think they work. I'm sticking with my SDCC versions. Movie figs with the knight heads homaging G1 I think look stylish, but actual G1 heads on the Bayformer models is a collision of styles wot don't work guv.

Platinum boxset - Rodimus Prime vs Galvatron. Not clear which figures are in it. There's a Voyager TW Galvatron. VS a Western Cloud Rodimus? On the other hand Rodimus is a frequently rumoured toy so I'd not be surprised to see a TW version coming. Given the unexpected appearance of Trypticon, I was wondering if these are actually the G1 originals coming out to celebrate the movie anniversary. Really play on the nostalgia trip. Expect them to cost £250 in TRU.

I bet on a Wreck-Gar, Hot Rod and Magnus reissue pack.
Or maybe a Magnus vs Galvatron reissue??
