I don't think it's a spoiler to say that David Tennant's mysteriously-returning face will be not-so-mysteriously-leaving the role of Doctor Who very soon, to make way for sexy newcomer Ncuti Gatwa. This is, of course, not the first time that Tennant has left the role of the Doctor, and his previous final words are ones that everyone remembers.
So the question is: What are his final words going to be this time? Will Russell T. Davies be able to resist making them a play on the previous final words, or will they go with something else? You decide!
(You don't decide. Davies does.)

It will absolutely be a flip of "I don't want to go".
Or "oh #£##@@" as he trips on a brick

They were pretty much his final words before the halted regeneration began, so... I think we'll have to give this to Pinwig.

Indeed. Raises an interesting question... did New Dr 'bud' of a parent or did they genuinely split in half? In which case is Old Doctor the same person as at the start of the episode?

Okay so this doesn't make much sense, but from their dialogue, it seems that they (the writers) are treating this as the new doctor regenerating as normal, only the previous doctor sticks around, too. And would be for all purposes in the future treated like the doctor meeting their past self, only without having to erase/hide it from the "younger" Doctor's memory.
I do wish they had made a better effort to explain this. Like... It wouldn't take much. Just a through away comment about "The Improbability Field reacting with our regeneration energies to create something really improbable: Bigeneration!" That nonsense is sufficient enough to make me go "...makes sense." more than "this happens to timelords sometimes but I thought it's a myth, but apparently not."

Spoiler What I don't quite get is how the Fifteenth was said to be rested and ready to take on the universe because the Fourteenth at this point stops and takes a holiday. So, if they exist at the same time with simultaneous rather than consecutive timelines, why does the Fourteenth resting impact the Fifteenth?

Spoiler What I don't quite get is how the Fifteenth was said to be rested and ready to take on the universe because the Fourteenth at this point stops and takes a holiday. So, if they exist at the same time with simultaneous rather than consecutive timelines, why does the Fourteenth resting impact the Fifteenth? I'm not explaining myself well (because this shit is confusing!) So that's where I think this is being handled, in the writing, as any other Doctor meeting their past self. The new Doctor has the lived experiences of the previous Doctor. It just hasn't happened yet. Timey Wimey. 15, even though he appears now, comes after the years 14 has spend living with the Noble-Temples.
That's the impression I'm getting as to how the writers will be handling this.
Now what happens to 14? I don't think this will ever be resolved until David Tennant is officially done with the role, because I think this is to keep him in permanent play without needing time travel or some other gimmick to explain the Doctor meeting a past self, while offering an easy explanation as to why he's aging like the actor. But that does leave the major question of what happens when 14 ends? Does he just die, like a normal person? Does he regenerate into a separate Doctor lineage? Or, and here's the mode interesting option, does he start regenerating into 15, then time energies loop him back to the divergence point?

But what if the 15th Doctor gets killed (properly, in a way that doesn't allow for any regeneration) at the end of his run, and only the 14th remains? Having spawned the 15th, does the 14th then get to regenerate into the 16th? Martin

{Spoiler} Good point. There's no mention of him losing the ability to regenerate, like his human incarnation. He may regenerate into The Valeyard, The Curator (Tom Baker), The other Curator (Colin Baker), the 2nd Doctor (season 6B), or any other Doctor.
The laser effect was a bit rubbish in retrospect. DT immediately returns to a standing position when the laser is switched off and and it didn't appear to pierce his suit (his clothing did re-generate with the 13-to-14th transition though, so a small hole repair should be an easy fix).
Random thought: Could the 14th Doctor lineage be a Plan B, just in case Disney attempt to wrestle control of the character via the 15th Doctor series?

Have they established how many hearts the two Doctors have now? Is it possible that having split in two they now have one heart each? Martin

Shockprowl has now seen it.
I don't see any reason both wouldn't have two hearts each any more than them sharing legs, eye, etc. Both seem fully formed.

I'm quite conflicted on it.
On the one hand it, you know, wasn't awful or anything.
I think CJ's right up thread- it could've been explained a bit better
But on the other hand, it does throw up some complicated questions that frankly might get in the way of future stories, 'cos they'll have to spend so long explaining to everyone what the heck is going on.
And... I hope I'm not being mean-spirited, but something about it feels a bit cop-outish. Want their cake and eat it.
If Tennant is always there, can 15 ever really be The Doctor? Is he somehow diminished 'cos the most popular New Who is still around?(popping up in future stories at some point no doubt with Rose strutting around like she owns the place with her entire extended family in tow...)
I love the Tennant Who, second only to Capaldi in New Who, but I can't shake the feeling bringing him back was a mistake. Certainly seemed to sweep Whitaker under the carpet. But what do I know.
I'm still missing Leela.
I also wasn't enthused by the trailer for 15's first full episode, the Christmas special. Seemed very formulaic. He goes on some jaunt, meets a young pretty human female who becomes his companion and wants to love him. I'm fed up with pretty young human female companions falling in love with the Doctor. They all bloody do it, except for Bill and Donna. And and and they all have to have something special about them that transcends space and time.
Gosh, I'm grumpy in my old age.
