It's a fine, fine book. Sixty quid of fine book ? Hmmmm. That's the thing. I know the material is top notch, but I doubt this will get more than 1 printing so may be more expensive in the future if I leave it for now. Just wondering if it's worth £60. Hmmm. -Ralph

Excellent!
Had another flick through a CB Omnibus. Yeah, I want that. Something for the Christmas list I think.

I see the Captain Britain Omnibus has went up in price to a staggering £63 on Amazon!
Meanwhile, FPG have dropped the price to £50. ARRRRGGGHHHH. If only...

I shall be picking up that Muppet trade in due course.
Ordered from Amazon: Captain Britain Omnibus, Secret Wars Omnibus and Warlock Masterworks 2 (Cosmic Jim).
Marvel Omnibus volumes seem to be down to £40 on amazon so the time to strike is now (especially for CB!). This of course brings the inevitable drunken Secret Wars II Omnibus purchase that much closer...

Secret Wars Omnibus. Fabulous remastered artwork. Looks absolutely stunning. Points off however for not including any material from Secret Wars UK. It's a low page count for an Omnibus volume so no excuse for not having space and the Captain Britain Omnibus has loads of obscure UK content up the back.
However, I am happy to have such a splendid reproduction of SW nonetheless. SW UK was the first comic I ever bought, so I love the story dearly. Every panel was comitted to memory. Happily, it still holds up to adult critical scrutiny. The Beyonder is brilliant in this. Shame the mystery was spunked away later.

Now I just don't get Secret Wars. I read it and think "What's all the fuss about ?"
Sorry.

The opening page and its' grand sense of wonder. Ultron swatted by Galactus. The mountain dropping on the heroes. The assault on the Wasp. Doom revealing his face. The resolve of the heroes that they must fight Doom, who are then promptly incinerated. Klaw, cut to pieces by Doom but still giggling. The look on Red Richard's face as he realises Galactus means to conume the world. Spider-Man gasping at his new costume. Reed not caring what colour Iron Man is under the armour. The Hulk straining to hold up the mountain. Captain America versus Doom, coming back from death again and again as Klaw/Beyonder watches. Ben Grimm alone at the end.
Magic moments, all of them. And there are many more.

I now own the Secret Wars II Omnibus. All 1150 pages plus extras. You could kill a man with this thing.
This is why drinking is bad.

I like how it says it has all the tie-ins on the back : yet is missing 2...
It does have Secret Wars 3 from FF though.

The ROM and Micronauts issues, presumably for rights reasons. Amusingly, that issue of ROM is the only one in which the title character does not appear!

Didn't know about the Micronauts issues. The up & coming Acts of Vengance HC appears to be missing the X-Men & New Mutants issues.

"We are the Revolution." Captain Britain Omnibus ordered. I'm glad I didn't go looking for it yesterday when I was in Middlesborough or this afternoon when I was changing trains in Newcastle! That is a very good price for a very good chunk of comics. The other night I opened up the Secret Wars II Omnibus and read the first issue. Then I put the brick down. 1125 pages to go. -Ralph

I thought 1 was one of the better issues of the LS. At least it's better than later issues where the Beyonder sits on his ^r$3 and contemplates stuff with no superheroes appearing. Some of the Avengers and FF issues are good.

If anyone has a copy of the New X-Men Omnibus, SELL IT. My copy went for a crazy £150. Especially while Marvel are re-releasing it in smaller, easier-to-read hardbacks....

Ooops, found myself with too much time on Amazon and ordered the Aliens Omnibus volumes 1-6. Reviews say that not all the stories are particularly good but I'm just a sucker for Aliens related stuff.
Pity they renamed Newt and Hicks after Alien3 came out, but y'know, in my head I read them as the original names.
Looking forward to getting to read Genocide. Used to have it in TPB when I was 15.

The first three minis plus Genocide were excellent, then it went downhill as all attempts at an ongoing storyline evaporated.
Alas, the first three are hard to find in the original versions. All were absurdly re-edited after Alien 3 came out to make them 'fit' and the (B&W) first story was coloured. It looks horrid as the art was designed for B&W.

Hurrumph. Not sure I like all the suggested Alien telepathy business and some of the art in Female War got my goat a little. Ripley is far to svelte for a 50 year old. I guess it was the early 90s so we can excuse the stylisation a little.
