Into Volume 3 of Aliens Omnibus.
I had Sacrifice and Salvation back in the day and maybe it's nostalgia, but enjoyed rereading them. The respective art styles both hold up well and neither are your typical man underestimating the Aliens story.
Rogue and Labyrinth unfortunately fall into that trap. Labyrinth's chapter about the Dr.'s experience in the hive introduced too many new behaviour anomalies to the Aliens.
Still, they were better than the super muddled Colonial Marines in Volume 2.

Looks like it covers exactly the same material as the first three classic volumes. A second omnibus would probably be enough to cover the rest of Englehart's run.
Still no announcement of a second Byrne FF Omnibus that I've seen though, so it's not a given.

The Whackos Omnibus pre-order has dropped to below half-price on Amazon: www.amazon.co.uk/Avengers-West-Coast-Omnibus/dp/0785167455/ref=pd_sim_b_6I'm biting and will be offloading my equivalent premier HC collections at some point soon... My Michelinie / Layton / JRJR Iron Man omnibus just arrived too, looks superb. Nice brand new JRJR cover, but would have preferred the old-school logo.

Avengers West Coast Omnibus vol. 2, more precisely the issues as yet uncollected in the classics HCs, was alright but the end of Englehart's run runs out of steam a bit and the volume finishes up with two fill-ins from Mark Gruenwald and Tom Defalco. The Gru one is dire, I read about 6 pages before skimming the remainder just in case it contained anything interesting. The Defalco one is better, picking up some of Englehart's loose ends. There's also a somewhat odd DG Chichester fill-in along the way. That said, the fill-ins do take the volume to just prior to the Byrne run, which I'd be happy to see in an Omnibus. -Jim There is a Roger Stern Spider-Man omnibus coming! I hope this bodes well for some Stern Avengers omnibi. Doctor Strange too. -Jim

Yup. Roger Stern was a good hand on Spidey and the art line up is damned impressive.

Did anyone bring up the news here of the (somewhat unsurprising) Infinity Gauntlet Omnibus due next summer? No word of contents yet but it has a whopping page count, so here's hoping for lots of build-up / cross-over / aftermath stuff (most of which I probably already own anyway, but what the heck...). -Jim I await news of the Omnibus but if it is chock full of Cosmic Jim Thanos stuff then I will be powerless to resist. -Ralph

Aha, perfect, you come through as usual Phil!
That's pretty much the table of contents I was hoping for, going to be getting me some of that.

Always look a trade up on Amazon US as well as UK as they frequently have details that the UK site doesn't and both generally have details before the solicitations.

What I would like to see is another couple of omnibus volumes to finish collecting Invincible Iron Man. 500-527 with associated extras printed in the oversized format they did the first 33 issues.

Just been reading the omnibus collection of the Jason Aaron/Steve Dillon PunisherMax run. I have most of the Punisher Marvel Knights/Max series as individual issues but my interest waned when the Max titled burned out after Garth Ennis left. But this 22 issue run has always been on my radar and I was given the book as a Christmas present.
It is awesome. Simple as. Ennis would be proud if he'd come up with this himself and I didn't realise it's the conclusion to the series. It has wonderfully rendered characters for Kingpin and Bullseye done in a proper 'Max' style, and Electra is in there too. It's just brilliant. It explores Frank Castle in ways that have never been done before and is thoroughly gripping. Couldn't put it down. I'm sure I'm very late to the party with this, but if you've enjoyed any of the Ennis Punisher and not come across this it's essential reading. Best comic I've read for a good while.

Omnibus of Silver Surfer by Slott/Allred/Allred has arrived. Very nice. Been many years since I got a Marvel Omnibus: paper feels a bit thinner, I think? Less than half the price of getting it from a comic shop! I need this as I loved it in Paninivision and this was cheaper than getting the softcover trades.
I really should get BRUTE FORCE next.

I know.
A slipcase with three trades would be a better option.

Indeed. It's the kind of series I would be into in trades but I don't need a big hardcover of it.
