Power Pack Classic V1 I'd got some of the issues in this volume already but it was nice - finally 25+ years later - to fill in the gaps. The first five issues are basically set up - lots of space action - then we get a 3 issue guest stint by Spider Man, Cloak & Dagger and the superb Dragon Man followed by 2 issues of Marrina (from Alpha Flight) in a follow up to a MTU annual that I bet nobody has read. Finally 5 - 4 individual and one group - MU Deluxe entries. Despite it being about kids - Jack is especially annoying - it's a decent enough read. Another volume is on the runway and I'm hoping to read through to 25 (which I've got in my boxes somewhere) Power Pack Classic v3 (collectes #18-26 & Thor #363) Finally Phil has read the issues leading up to 25, which he's owned for years. Rather good it is too, although there's an annoying page in the wrong order incident in the book. It does seem as iof they're trying to tidy things up so I wonder if word came down that Power Pack the comic was to die in the run up to New Universe and then the powers that be changed their minds? Most of us have #27 collected elsewhere (which I could not find for love nor money at the time) but my memory has it that the title goes down the toilet from this point. Did we mention that there's a Power Pack Omnibus due next year? www.hachettebookgroup.biz/titles/marvel-comics/power-pack-classic-omnibus-vol-1/9781302923679/

Love me some Power Pack. Was it the backup in UK Thundercats? Something like that anyways was where I read it first.

I think we think it did. We looked at that as part of Thundercats recently. Bear With, will find link.
Before that it had an extended run in the UK Star Wars.

It was. I looked up all the relevant issues and found there was a huge crossover in reprinted issues between SW and Thundercats, even though Thundercats missed a chunk of issues out to try and avoid that. Packs with the Snark war are fantastic. Best thing in Thundercats, that was. [/quote] Thundercats started out in issue one printing the US issue one of Power Pack. It ran Power Pack #1-5, but very quickly had letters from readers saying "we've read all this already" so they jumped from #5 to #16 in Thundercats issue 20 with a quick explanation to cover the gap. They then ran Power Pack #16-26 (but missed #18 out because it was a tie in to Secret Wars II that I don't think fit the ongoing story), which took Thundercats up to issue 78 where Galaxy Rangers started as the back up strip. After that, Power Pack didn't come back. Edit: Having checked, that jump was a bit rubbish anyway. The last issue of Return of the Jedi (#155) had the end of Power Pack #23 in it. Power Pack started with #1 in RotJ #69 so it ran from Oct '84 to June '86 before Thundercats started with it in March '87. That just about works out - 87 issue run, of those 23 PP issues at least two were double sized ones, so that works out about one PP issue every 3.5 RotJ issues, and they seem to have printed six pages per issue, so that seems about right for a full run 1-23 in RotJ.

Here we go tmukhub.proboards.com/post/370852/threadMartin's Marvelous Adventures with Marvel Comics rather than Thundercats 30th though, but it does gets mentioned in the first post. EDIT: Pinwig beat me to it Oh and we probably should tag Jim to make sure he an his daughter know about the omnibus!

Thanks, but given the cost and the practicalities of reading those massive hardbacks I think we might end up sticking with the tpbs with floppies to supplement!
Tempting to see that lovely art in a large format with high quality repro though

I find Omnibus volumes become literally painful to read if bigger than around 12-14 issues worth of content. This why I own only two: Secret Wars and Captain Britain.
I used to own Secret Wars II Omnibus and found 1000+ pages at that size and weight very difficult to comfortably read!

I've got a few: Alpha Flight, Captain Britain - it was the only way to get the material, Operation Zero Tolerance - ditto, though about to be a trade, Stark Disassebled and few smaller X-Men ones inc that Asgardian Wars you and Andu got me.
Marvel Universe on order. Cos it would have been wrong not to where's our Epic Collections?
But generally, yeah, too big.

I have a few too many and should look to offload some. I'm happy with the first two Claremont X-Men volumes as there's some lovely art in there, and the same for Miller's Daredevil, but almost everything should probably be replaced with Epics and the like.
I got the WCA volumes as the Prem HCs didn't finish the Englehart run at the time but the omnis did, then I got the Byrne Avengers volume which follows, but I think this can all be replaced with Epics in the not too distant future.
Stupidly bought the Onslaught omni in a sale, though I am determined to read it before parting with it.

I know the Kirby Eternals book goes for silly money sometimes, but it's one of the more reasonably sized ones (I hardly think of it as an omnibus) and it's nice to have that art in that format. I expect it will be reprinted with the movie announced now anyway.

Near Mint Condition has a video up detailing the late 2020 Marvel Omnibus releases www.youtube.com/watch?v=cRaN81zYFFITo save you watching - I struggled slightly with the hyper presentation - here's a list Venom v3 Infinity Saga War of the Realms Excalibur Moon Knight
Marvel Horror They Live Again Hulk Peter David v2 Savage Sword of Conan v4 Infinity Crusade Conan the Barbarian v5
Marvel Cosmic Universe by Donny Cates v1 Kull Thunderbolts New Mutants Uncanny X-Men v4 They're the same people that produced that list of Epics earlier in the year - tmukhub.proboards.com/post/373221/thread - so you can assume it's kosher with the caveat that some might go into early 2021. On Sunday they've got an episode on late 2020 Omnibus reprints but next Wednesday at 8pm EST (1am Thursday GMT) they're going to reveal the late 2020 Epics www.youtube.com/channel/UCUX6kqTUFzQaKJKBaqzuNdgSo if anyone wants to make a guess at what's coming, now is the time.

I've long since soured on Omnis due to the practicalities of reading them, but Thunderbolts is long overdue and well deserved. I could be tempted by that at the right price.

Discovered the X-Men Shattershot Omnibus today, which fills an annoying gap. Now have everything from the start of Jim Lee through to Phalanx Covenant in Omnibus form. Paperback of A Skinning of Souls heading for the charity shop.

Ooooooo!
But at over 1000 pages that puts it in the uncomfortably unweildy heavy size I can't handle so will pass. However, with those strips being restored for it perhaps they will turn up in softcovers at a later date.
Besides, the Marvel Handbook Omnibus is my next trade buy when pennies allow. Books etc has it back in. Then Hoxpox.

2021 Omnibus news www.youtube.com/watch?v=u7eIDmoEqBIOne in there should get a few buys from this forum. I think even I would be pushed to True Friend someone an Omnibus for the sake of one issue, so Burns can mark himself as safe from one of the others: it also probably means no Epic for that material either next year :-( Video for 2021 Epics on Tuesday apparently. Via what's been put back, here's what we know so far: tmukhub.proboards.com/post/411915/thread

There is going to be some Cosmic Jim in there in the latter part of CM and that Iron Man issue. Been a long time since I read any of this, but it never made a strong impression on me.

Agreed, there is some nice art though - some Gil Kane and Gene Colan, but it's a bit of a turd storywise.
