I am not fond of the "cell shading," but I appreciate it. Hasbro has been known to go this hard for sunbow decoes, so it's nice to see on the usually ignored marvel decoes.
Soundwave, with Frenzy and Ratbat Ratchet And Megatron, next please!

Sold.
The Optimus head is based on the Herb Trimpe take from US 11 and 12, love it. Hope you can stick it on the Earthrise or whatever SS series comes next.

You'd think I'd know that given I have most of them still in their boxes. I would say Jetfire did, don't think any others did.

I could definitely be persuaded by that Shockwave. My current one is the Legends scale one from a while back, but I could make room for a larger size one.

Ooh hey, now those are rather nice. Is this a Shattered Glass line replacement I wonder? Unlikely. Hasbro did the same sort of thing for Star Wars Black Series a few years ago: comic inspired characters/decos in the same type of packaging (velcro lock covers and all)*. Shops can't shift them even with constant deep discount. I may be interested in these TF ones but after seeing how the SW ones bombed I can happily wait for a sale. Not sure. I'm not convinced by the 'shading effects' in the pictures and I already have these moulds. Twice. -Ralph *I got the Dark Empire Luke and the Marvel Jaxxon.

May not be Marvel. The SW Black Series comic editions pulled from different sources/publishers.
If there are 2 more TF comic editions they may be based on Dreamwave, IDW or even Skybound decos.

I do like that Prime head. He looks so done with everything.
I'm definitely wanting these, but I do think it'll be a wait for a sale.

I might spring full-price for the Shockwave, it depends on when it comes out and what else is budgeted for around the same period (summer has a number of model kit preorders for example). I'll probably not worry about the Grimlock, I'm still happy with my trusty MP Grimlock.

I do like that Prime head. He looks so done with everything. He does have that "All the Autobots are dead, the rest of my body are several states away, and any moment now Shockwave will realise I have no further usefulness" resigned look down pat. Karl

The colours just arent quite right to me. Shockwave needed to be the dark purple of the siege toy to make the cell/comic printing effect actually match the cover art.
Grimlock just looks a bit to bright to me. At least the blue.
But I do like both of them.
Grimlock at least will have to wait for a sale.

May not be Marvel. The SW Black Series comic editions pulled from different sources/publishers. Indeed not. But having done an IDW series of boxsets for Amazon in 2023, I'd say that that option is less likely. Plus I suspect that this is part 40th, part tie in/promo with the new Marvel Collections also announced today

Or at least one of them was like this. SG is pretty much standard retail boxes, but with different colors.

Sold. The Optimus head is based on the Herb Trimpe take from US 11 and 12, love it. Hope you can stick it on the Earthrise or whatever SS series comes next. That would be my hope also. But preferrably on an existing G1 Prime and not an upcoming one - I don't need any more G1-esque Primes! (He says knowing full-well that if it looks good he'll get it.) But these are certainly an unexpected set, and not unwelcome. Grimlock looks nice, but I'll pass on it for now - I've already got the G2 version of this mold, and it's not really worth the £60 that's going to be asked for this. Shockwave, on the other hand, is surprisingly cheap at £40. Okay, that's actually relative to prices these days, but I'll take what I can get. I'm just surprised that they didn't hope we'd forget that they'd ditched all of his Siege accessories that justified him being a Leader class toy, and charge us a Leader class price anyway. Won't somebody think of those poor executive bonuses..? But I think I'm going to have to swing for that Shockwave at full price. I was obsessed with Prime's fate during that run when it was originally published, and even removed the head from my G1 Prime toy and made a cardboard diorama to put it in. It's not often that these toys speak to my childhood memories, so I can't not get this...
