THE COLIN HAS ARRIVED.
It's a very brief appearance. No hint that he will apparently go on to be a big star in it.

70's Z CARS isn't doing much for me so far. I'm not taking to the characters.

S4 of VAN DER VALK was a return to form. The time jump and format change help. It's not a patch on the dark masterpiece of S1/2 but it's better than the shite of most of S3.

It's poor. I can see why it is barely remembered. The B&W episodes of the original run seem to remain in pop culture fondness so I will tune back in when they get shown.
70's Z CARS is just dull. It's no Dixon!

WHAT!
The door has moved between episodes in the CROWN COURT! Witnesses are called from the door at the back, not to the left of the jury!!!
Did they think we would not notice??!!!

Given up on 70's Z-CARS. It's just too shite. Only a handful of ENEMY AT THE DOOR and VAN DER VALK left to be shown. I made it through all of HAMMER HOUSE OF MYSTERY AND SUSPENSE. DANGEROUS ASSIGNMENT still plods on with the mighty Brian 'The One True Quatermass' Donlevy and his hat. CROWN COURT and THE BROTHERS remain unmissable. A short lived obscure anthology show called VICTORIAN SCANDALS has started. I'll give that a go. -Ralph

Alas, I must report that VICTORIAN SCANDALS was fucking awful. The first clue was: 'starring Twiggy'.
If only it had been VICTORIAN SANDALS.

I just saw an advert for Victorian Sandals, why was that man floating on a chair?
I'm giving Z Cars a go. It's oddly similar to Dixon. I loved the CSO bits in the police car, the colour fringes round the policemen gave me immediate Terror of the Autons flashbacks. It doesn't seem too bad, but the early B/w Stratford Johns/Brian Blessed eps would be more welcome.

ENEMY AT THE DOOR has finished. What a great show. It is a mystery to me how this vanished into obscurity. Well done TPTV for giving it an airing. I would never have been aware of it otherwise.
While the show just stops (I suspect due to cancellation) there is some sense that perhaps the creators knew. There is some thematic circularity with the first episode and a proper shocking moment in the final scene that provides an ending of sorts for some of the characters.

Colin remains a tiny prescence in THE BROTHER. Very brief appearances as a minor plot point so far and has not demonstrated any characterisation as yet.

I watched the first Colin episode the other day to see what this was like. Pretty good, I will continue to watch as time permits. It reminded me of Howard's Way but without the eighties fashion or boats.

I'm sure it'll be on again. The repeats seem to be a fair way behind, but in reality I struggle to find time to watch a Dixon each week, doing two shows wouldn't happen. That's why I now have the entirety of Enemy on the recorder. Which, it has to be said, is much cheaper than just buying the out of print DVDs.
