Pedantry time! Slug wasn't in Transformers The Movie. He will be when they do the re-dub. And Hot Rod will be French. Martin

Slug was a poor choice really. He's not a mollusc, and that comes to mind before any connotation to do with punching. If he had to be renamed to avoid offence I can see the desire to keep as close to the original as possible, but I'd have gone with Slam or even Slay over Slug.

Slug is a term for a spent bullet. I believe it's also has a similar use to slag, as a molten chunk of metal.
Not only is it phonetically close, it has a very similar meaning.

Oh no wait, that's worse than Slag....

This is objectively the funniest way they could have displayed this awful little minifigure. (Granted it's so awkward, that there's very little they could do that it doesn't look stupid)

I really don't like this Daniel. I mean, not for what you might think are the obvious reasons, like he's not supposed to be in this part of the movie, or that this is a shite toy. I find the blank dome for a head really unsettling. You know there's supposed to be a face there, a human face. but instead it's just a blank dome. Emotionless. Cold. Dead.
This is a toy of a dead Daniel.
I do not like it. If they'd sculpted a head and the but a clear plastic dome over it, fine. But then, why go to that effort and not just add knees? Heck, its not like the exosuit would have been a complicated toy to make transform anyway, even at this scale. But instead we get a toy that reminds me of the grave.
Wheelie can stay with Grimlock. Daniel will be stored. Far away from prying eyes.

I agree. The action shots make Daniel look decidedly disturbing. It reminds me of something but I can't remember what. Would it have been better if it was painted shiny grey?

Core class wheelie, with a smaller transforming exosuit figure bundled together in the deluxe pricepoint is how they should have handled both of these.
But at the very least both of these should have had basic ball jointed articulation at the shoulders, elbows, hips, and knees, with a swivle neck and waist.

That works for the Headmaster version, and it would probably translate better to this size than white. Maybe you're thinking of those classic '50's robots like Robbie with his glass dome. And if you made a toy of him, you'd know that you should be able to see into it, and if you couldn't that would be just as wrong. They'd have been best served by making the headsculpt and then not doing the dome at all. Can't disagree that Daniel is awful. So I won't.

How much more would it have cost them to put a ball joint in Wheelie & Daniel's knees?

Opened Grimlock this week. I honestly didnt mind Wheelie that much, yes its crazy that the couldnt stretch to 2 extra parts, but the feet brigade show they are cutting corners/pushing the budget to its absolute limits at the moment. What did bug me was that thers not a decent position for him to sit when riding on Grimlocks back. Theres pegs and holes that look like they should give Wheelie a firm grip, but every combination Ive tried either looks rubbish or is really unstable.
As for Ralph, not liking dare to be Stupid, thats okay (it isnt) but thinking Weird Al is a bad singer!! thats completely blown my mind.
