This week on the Dinobot Road, I've opened Slag. Who is absolutely fantastic. What a Dino mode! There's a reason why he's the best Dinobot; it's because he's the best Dinobot. Takes a bit of effort to get everything aligned and snapped together, but he's easily the best looking Dino of the bunch. This would be perfect if they included an alt black head. Very impressed! So that's Swoop, Sludge and Slag out. Random choice of Grim or Snarl next weekend. Welcome, Pinwig, to the End of the Road Your Dinobot opening powers are honed But please don't you dare stop now! If you're nervous, I'll mop your brow 'Cos toys, oh toys, belong in our hands Not trapped in boxes and plastic bands Release them, brother, and stand them proud Upon a desk or shelf- play is allowed!

With things like G1 Dinobots we really have reached the end. I can see no need for them to be done yet again mould-wise within the next 5 years or so.
If you want Dinobots that combine or look like the 80's toys or look like the cartoon models or want small desk toys...it's all been done.
Unless of course Slash or the Dinopope return.
This is the problem Hasbro has now run into. When your brand becomes mostly nostalgia, it becomes more challenging to redo the same characters over and over before parts of your customer base stop buying because they already have the versions they wanted.

Well yeah. Barring Grimlock, they have great toy G1 dinobots in PotP, and great Sunbow G1 dinobots (if way oversized) in SS86.
There's still a G1 Scorn to match either set, and a G1 Slash that's a better fit for SS86.
But beyond that, there's still correct/updated dinosaur modes that's not so stagnantly uniform in size. Or at least IDW "Comic Universe" Dinobots.

I recognise that position. Although for me it is closer to "have owned versions and am happy with that". I've had original dinobots pass through my hands, and I have no real attachment to the Sunbow character models so, although I've bought three of the five of the most recent lot of Dinobots I stalled out on the final one released and couldn't see the point in spending money buying the same character again. I'm seriously thinking that I might move on the three Legacy Dinos I have and just keep Slash and my MP Grimlock. In much the same way as I eventually did with the Combiner Wars stuff. I moved on most of them and kept Rook and Alpha Bravo because they were the ones that didn't feel like "here, buy something we've made before". Karl
