Which if you think about, given they're construction vehicles, should be easy to follow. It'd be quite a nice, proper road. With signposts and a smooth tarmac surface. Ooh. Premium roadage. Incorrect.

We need to hook him with something else. We need to start the campaign now to get him to buy into the SS86 Devastator road. No way.

So, Shockers has completed the dinobot road. I propose that we send him down a new road! Lets send him down the minibot road! Yep. Been on the Mini-Autobot Road just as long as the Dinobot Road. One. Or three. And this road is paved with maddening waiting. Long traffic-jams of impatience, the other vehicles full with Hasbro executives and designers laughing at my longing.

Shockers has to. Remember when the Dinobots got into a fight with the Constructicons in that advert?

I'm happy with the last lot. Sure Devastator's a bit wobbly, but he's huge and gets the job done nicely. They spend all their time combined so I don't mind the poorer individual members- and too be honest, they're not all that bad anyway.
Besides, I have a feeling the new one will be very Sunbow-bland.
No Constructicon-Road for me.
The Mini-Autobot Road is trial enough- no end in sight, endless trudge of The Damned. The Collecting Damned.

It’ll be a bumpy road given the G1 Constructicons’ lack of a roller

You're probably not wrong there. But don't worry! I'm sure there'll be a toy colours rerelease somewhere down the road, for SDCC or PulseCon or end of year profits or something. That'll be what you'll want!

Well, the thought of that just made me go and look at the Toyhax sets for the Dinobots, and my they're pretty but pricey.

Saturday we have some of the homegroup coming over to help move some wardrobes/cupboards. Since two of them have to come out of my room I've had to clear the floor. That's been tidying away several of the small boxes of Transformers that have been sitting there. SIX of them went into a large plastic crate this morning. They probably should go to the garage but ..... One of the cupboards has for many years had TFs displayed in the top half. MOST of them have been removed but four of the five Studio Series 86 Dinobots are still in it. So for the last 3 nights it's in the house they'll be FINALLY joined by Swoop. Just TF'd him back to robot mode for the first time and he's sitting there beside me with his launchers on nhis arms like Null Rays

No, but he has perfectly servicable mounting points on his arm for weapons - which makes them more convenient for aiming in humanoid mode and therefore contributes to greater success in battle. I see no reasons why not. Phil should play with his toys in a way that gives him joy. What would be the point of them if not that...
(Also, technically you surely mean that he is not Starscream, as Starscream is the only one that is armed with Null Rays. Skywarp, Thundercracker, Acid Storm, Dirge, Thrust, all have different weapons... :-) )

The nigh impossible has happened this week - I have taken a trip to Phil's and he has saved me money. He kindly brought his Studio Series Swoop down for my inspection, and I have now had the opportunity to properly inspect one in the plastic. My conclusion is that Swoop is fine. He is a perfectly competent toy of his size and price point. However, fine is not really sufficient when I am looking at spending nearly sixty quid on him - and when having him probably means I need to reprieve the other three from the Target: Toyfu box, and therefore would need to find an equivalent volume of other things to go out to equate to three rather over-sized Dinobots...
If I was still an active collector, as opposed to someone who sometimes buys stuff they like, I suspect that I would still have ended up purchasing him. But as things are now, Studio Series Swoop is nice, but does not spark sufficient joy to make me want to own one.

I'm the opposite I think. I opened Swoop last night and I think he's really Swooper! He's bigger in bird mode than I thought he would be. It's a pity the bulk on his back isn't further forward like the original, that would make him a little more svelte and the cartoon model isn't quite as bulky as this, but he's very whooshable. I do like the way his transformation is almost the same as the original. All I could ask for here really is a red chest and a toy head, but I kinda don't want that now as I'm not buying all these again.
Right, so that's 1/5 open.

Okay, so I suppose in robot mode he does look a bit square, but it's not a deal breaker. I must dig out my Fans Toys one and compare.

Time for step two on the Dinobot Road. I've been up into the loft and picked a random Dinobot without looking from the plastic tub to open because Swoop is looking lonely. Number two will be... Sludge! I am putting this here in the hope it forces me to actually open the toy instead of just moving the box from one place to another.
Where did we get to with swords for these chaps? Swoop has his one and Grimlock's - were the other three somewhere else? The Comic ed Grimlock had a couple didn't he?

This week on the Dinobot Road, I've opened Slag. Who is absolutely fantastic. What a Dino mode! There's a reason why he's the best Dinobot; it's because he's the best Dinobot. Takes a bit of effort to get everything aligned and snapped together, but he's easily the best looking Dino of the bunch. This would be perfect if they included an alt black head. Very impressed! So that's Swoop, Sludge and Slag out. Random choice of Grim or Snarl next weekend.
