The preorder selling out is actuallu quite convenient for me. I hadn't decided yet whether I was going to put in a pre-order for it. Apparently that decision is now made.
I'll either get Smyths to send it to...a random location outside of my house (ta, Evri) like one of Swoop's predecessors, or I'll pick it up of a lunchtime and smuggle(*) it back into the office.

I was aware of the pre-orders selling out, but only when it was too late. It is a thing we shall perhaps not mention to the Conjunx, as she was excited for this one... But I am also not worried - there will be more stock than what was offered up for pre-orders.

He sold out on the EU site on day one, before I even knew the preorder was up. Not concerned yet, but all the talk of more limited runs is there nagging at the back of my mind these days…

Personally, I have reached the stage now where if something is *not* advertised as a limited run item but is difficult to find upon release I decide it's not that important and move on.
*shrugs*
If a company makes it difficult for me to give them money then it's their problem. I don't need everything.
I also have many hobbies, which helps!

I'm only really collecting Transformers now, with the odd bit of Final Fantasy VII merch, but there's still a lot of TF stuff out there!
I never had a Swoop as a kid, and if I don't get one now, I'll survive.

These are indeed very valid points, and I will be fine if I don't get a Swoop - in the same way I have come to terms with not having the Legacy Armada Prime. However, I'm not the one who cares about Swoop - and this is what concerns me...
That said, I got the Conjunx a Legacy Core Swoop for Christmas since she really wanted it, and it's still sitting in a corner, boxed and untouched. I can use that as an excuse for not getting a larger Swoop. It might work. (It will not work.)

For odd toys I think that idea works, but if you've got four out of five Leader class Dinobots and the fifth vanished... well that would be more than a shoulder shrug for me.

I've previously owned an original Swoop, and an oversized KO of the Power of the Prime's one. I did consider getting the core one, as he is fairly close to scaling with the MP Grimlock - about as close as we will ever get I think, and near enough by eye. But it wasn't reasonably available so... *shrug*. The Studio Series one is due to be carried in Smyths at some point in the year, and all the rest of the Studio Series Dinobots have been reasonably available from there. So I'm not worried. It either is in stock, and I buy it, or it isn't and I don't... In the end it is only a kids plastic robot toy. If I don't end up getting one then it isn't the end of the world.
It'd be nice to have six Dinobots and their mate the engineering Professor, but if it is only five and their mate then so be it.

Concept: a team of 6-10 reasonably anatomically accurate and in scale Dinobots, with their handler Hound (a jeep who's suspiciously off-white and red)
Of course:
Tyrannosaurus (Grimlock)
Apatosaurus (Sludge)
Stegosaurus (Snarl)
Triceratops (Slug)
Pteranodon (Swoop)
But also potentially:
Spinosaurus (Scorn)
Utahraptor (Slash)
Marine reptile* (Sunk)
Ankylosaurus (Slam)
Brachiosaurus (Stomp)
Quetzalcoatlus (Soar)
Therizinosaurus (Stab)
Allosaurus (Swift)
* While I want more than this I accept not all would make it to an expanded Dinobot team. But the identity of Sunk is dependent on if the brachiosaur is on. Preferably Sunk would be a plesiosaurus, but two new long necked dinobots would be a bit visually boring. So there are four other marine reptile body types to choose from- Pliosaurs, Ichthyosaurs, Mosasaurs, and (giant) Sea Turtles.
