Sunstreaker had nowhere to hide his stuff away in vehicle mode, but at least in robot mode you could store whatever fists or missiles he wasn't using in his backpack (in the space where his arms fold up in car mode).
And similarly, in robot mode you could store the Strike Planes' landing gear in their cockpits.

Sunstreaker was my first Transformer (4th / 5th birthday- not sure which). I wanted a red, I think, Gobot from Woolworths in Kilburn but he was sold out (at least this is the story in my head) so my parents got me this Sunny delight instead. I was disappointed but then quickly loved him no end. I lost his parts in no time as he was played with everywhere. I don't remember his end but I'm pretty sure he disappeared or fell apart before we moved when I was 7.
Always had a real attachment to him because of this but the truth is that I don't love the toy (I got a loose one 10 or 15 years ago but, after the nostalgia wore thin, I was underwhelmed) and I don't love the character. I actually find yellow cars kind of hideous.
ML Sunstreaker and variants would be a hell of a thing.

Did you ever do any programming with variables? Or Algebra in Maths? Nope. -Ralph I suspected that might be the case.... Explain the A/B solution and how it applies to your mad 1984 polls!!! -Ralph There we have a 1 2 3 4 pattern, but there's also a variation on week 3 depending on if it's an off or even round Round 1 1 2 3a 4 Round 2 1 2 3b 4 Round 3 1 2 3a 4 Round 4 1 2 3b 4 Round 5 1 2 3a 4 Round 6 1 2 3b 4

So the week 3 toy depends on if it's on shelf A or B?

The A and B there are not the same A & B as used here

I don't think I've ever held a Sunstreaker in the flesh (so to speak). I'd love to own one but never prioritised it - kinda assumed they'd have done a reissue by now.

Snagged a vintage one from Nick a few years ago now.
Very satifsying to make it fly in robot mode and go "whoooosh!" at the same time.
10/10 would recommend.

Starscream is cool but Skywarp's the best of this mold yes? Away last week so catching up. Always loved Thundercrackers blue. Got a loose Thundercracker body from a neighbour in the late 80s or early 90s. Until I got G2 Starscream in 1993 he was my only strike plane, I spent many hours building cardboard wings for him and even more hours trying to replicate his particular shade of blue. I spent so long I think it ingrained intself on my brain. It was quite a while after G2 Starscream that I finally got a G1 version and I was slightly disappointed by how dull it looked. G2 Starscream is an interesting one, its not a craxy new look, its more or less the original turned up to 11.The minibots are the only other example of that approach that I can think of. Which is a shame as I think it works really well.

I have a Red Diaclone, well almost certainly Diakron DK-1 signed by Kojin Ono. It does make perfect sense that it was the first transforming robot. Theres an awkwardness to it that I suspect is why so many have said its not their favourite design. It not mine either, though I do think at least in part its not helped by the colour scheme on sunstreaker. DK1 works much better. I can see an improved version of the design in Wheeljack and a few other places, but its not a type thats been reused and evolved like the other Autobot car types.

I got a Sunstreaker about ten years back. I haven't had him out for a while but I do remember him being a bit of a faff compared to the simple solidity of moulds like Prowl and Jazz.

I think it's like this. Every Wednesday I cook Quorn mushroom pie, mash and vegetables.
1 is the pie 2 is the mash 3 is the veg 4 is cabbage
One week, the veg would be cauliflower, but the following week broccoli. I alternate them, so 3a is cauliflower and 3b broccoli. The pattern goes a one week, b the next, then back to a.

No, it'll be cauliflower. Broccoli today.

Phil is organising the 'Transformers is 40' feature via an A/B system according to some obscure maths system known only to him. None of us can understand it.
Phil is also running a seperate A/B system in his loft. Or maybe they are connected. Who knows!!!

Right. Let's sort this.
We've established the cycle for the 40th thread:
1. Minibot 2. UK released Car 3. Decepticon 4. Non-UK released Car
Phil is saying week 3 in the cycle flip flops on an A week/B week pattern. It's the Decepticons. There are three tape sets and three jets. Week A - Soundwave/Buzzsaw, then Ravage/Rumble, then Frenzy/Laserbeak. Week B would be Starscream, Thundercracker then Skywarp.
So we get a tape set on an A week and a jet on a B week.
That's all it is!

Tapes are Decepticons Week 3 A
Strike Planes are Decepticons Week 3 B
Neither are Minibots, which are in Week 1

Tapes are Decepticons Week 3 A Strike Planes are Decepticons Week 3 B Neither are Minibots, which are in Week 1 But Pinwig shows each cycle as beginning with Minibots!!! Why is this so complicated??!!! How can there be a B just for one week? Why week 3? -Ralph

Ohhhh... Oh fuck a duck...
There is only ONE solution.
Just one.
BIG PHIL MUST BE DESTROYED.
Harsh, perhaps. But only then will the confusion stop in my mind.
