Unfortunately events may prove otherwise on that one :-( Just like it has with The Sensorites. At some point I'm going to have to have a think as to when to stop the 50th anniversary rerun of the blog. And one of the two most popular options involves watching The Space Museum again. It is pish, I don't even get episode 1. I think you're doing a grand job. I'd keep going until you reach a point you're happy you've said everything you want to say. I'm wishing more and more that I was documenting my own thoughts doing this, which is why my rating Doctor Who posts are getting longer and longer. I'm very up for the idea of a group venture along these lines with a different series. Perhaps we should have an episode a week rewatch of one of the Transformers series so everyone can chip in on here about how good, bad or otherwise it is.

I have revised my opinion of The Space Pirates. It is better than The Invasion. I was with you right up to the last two words there. I do think the Space Pirates is a great story, but better than the Invasion? I think not sir, I think very much not.

I've just never been able to see what everyone else sees in The Invasion. The reputation it has baffles me. One of the weaker 60's stories. Even the music is awful!

Ooh, I see. Nasty. Perhaps that was the wrong show to do? and the rate was too quick to keep up with? I think one episode a week of the right show would be manageable/sufferable? how about Beast Wars? or an unrelated classic perhaps not visited for a while... Sapphire & Steel? The Tripods? Star Fleet? any common interests, something everyone has access to?

Apparently there's a Tardis Bookazine special due out tomorrow.
Here we go again...

They kept that quiet!
I actually saw some of them in WH Smiths the other day. Unfortunately the covers were really scuffed (and at a tenner I would want a pristine product!)

Still no TARDIS special in Smiths today, wondering if mine is actually going to get it. It still has at least twenty each of the Doctor & Cybermen ones. There haven't been many sightings of this outside the specialists yet.

DWM advert hints that the new special should be out today but TBH the advert isn't 100% clear: ;-) I'm told it's been delayed till next week

I'm getting a bit worried that DWM are reaching saturation point with all these specials. I realise it's now time for the next one in the regular series, #38, so a roundup of the anniversary shows and the end of Matt Smith's era is the right thing to do to clear the decks for a 12th Doctor Volume one toward the end of the year, these to me are the ultimate evolution of Pixley's archive articles. But when you put the bookazines on top of that, there's just too many. My Smiths is drowning in the things now (Doctors, Cybermen and TARDIS bookazines, many many issues of the first two) and I can see a point where they'll just say, okay, so you have a high volume of sales for the monthly magazine, but we have no more space for special issues. I think the bookazine idea has run its course. It was an anniversary cash in. They've done Daleks, Companions, Doctors, Cybermen and the TARDIS. That covers the basics, it's also 50 quid's worth of extra material on top of the regular mags and specials. I'd like to see that idea retired and the regular specials alternate between new series guides and looking at aspects of the classic shows, like the telesnaps specials. To be honest I find the most interesting 'special edition' type magazines now are the fan produced ones; Vworp Vworp and Nothing at the End of the Lane are infrequent but superb.

NatEotL is superb. Vworp was fun, not sure they're doing anymore.
The only other Bookazine I'd like to see is a more general Monsters one.
The DWM Telesnap specials from last year are essential, almost wish I'd bought back up copies. Would love to see them collected.

I've been really enjoying the run of classic series articles in DWM recently. The interview with Terrance Dicks is really interesting, even if it doesn't cover a lot of new ground, and while the Andrew Cartmel retrospective is typically self-indulgent and a little too fawning, it's interesting to hear the writers talk about the McCoy era of the show. Given the swathes of Who related autobiographies we've had in the last few years Terrance really needs to do one.
The two eras of effects crew articles that preceded those were great, and the Derek Martinus tribute. All very good. I guess we've had all that because the series is off air, I suppose from the new issue onward we'll be plunged back into wall to wall new era stuff.

For the first time ever my DWM subs has gone up from £40 a year to £45.
For some reason I never fot the specials in with it when I took the sub out. I think they'd just had the one special, the 9th Doctor comics compilation, that I never bought.
So I decided to see how much I could get a subs inc specials for. £52, rising to £57 next year.
I'll take that.

Kept thinking "I must get the new DWM special tomorrow" and wondering how I'd afford it.
Good job it turned up early today and reminded me I'd upped my sub to include them!

Doh bugger, I thought you were talking about the Alien Worlds one then. But I see that's passed my Smiths by and been and gone and I forgot about it. Wait, did I? yes. It's not in the pile. Now we're on to 2015 Yearbooks. I need a holiday to get caught up with myself. Fortunately one's about to start.

We still had some copies of the Alien Worlds special kicking around here last time I looked, do you want me to have a look in the week and see if I can source you one Pinwing?

I still remember a fine joke in DWM that when discussing a Master-themed issue that it should come with a commemorative Gordon Tipple tea tray.
Toby Hadoke should track him down. I want that man interviewed!

Does anyone know if there's an index online anywhere for DWM archive and fact of fiction articles? I know they were all listed on the poster that came with what... DWM 450? But is there an easy online reference?
