No, Earthshock is the previous season. I wouldn't say any Davison story, save maybe Five Doctors, is better than Earthshock.

I do that. I forget: it's salt in the TARDIS and pepper in the Dalek. You'd think it was obvious.

These seem to come at the rate of three a year, and as this is the sixth (or ninth actually I suppose) I'm wondering if this might be the last one? I wouldn't mind so much if they were comprehensive guides that covered a specific criteria in depth, but books that have a random selection of planets or monsters that fill a page count... I don't think these are targeted at old school fans. Some have been good, the Master one was, but I bought the last one, flicked through it once and put it on the pile wondering what it added to the reference material I already have. Even though I try to buy all the DWM publications I think I'm done with these Smiths books now.
Conversely the proper specials are doing well at the moment; the art one was great, and the next one due this week on music also looks a worthwhile buy.

Picked up The Music of Doctor Who DWM Special in physical form, which shall make a good companion piece to The Art Of Special.

Finally found a copy of the Davros and Villains Bookazine this morning that someone had hidden at the back of a stack of unsold copies of previous specials in WHS in Kingston.
Sat reading at lunch in the Vegetarian place by the river, very good mag.

Top tribute to Derek Ware in the new DWM as well as a Fact of Fiction on Death To The Daleks. And, oddly, a Wheel in Space review

I presume the latter is part of the series of reviews on stories with missing episodes?

I was going to buy DWM but wow how long has it been a fiver? That's the price of a novel!!!

Magazines have been that price for a few years now. At least DWM has a lot of reading in it and not many ads.
Good luck on finding a new novel with an RRP of a fiver!

The content/price ratio is interesting in magazines. I read a few cover to cover each month and it varies considerably considering they are all pretty much 4-5 quid now.

Result today: Found the Time Lords Bookazine on day of release.
Dalton on the cover, Jayston interview inside. Looks a decent one.

I might spring for this one. I'd decided to stop with these and didn't get the Davros one, but this one might actually be a useful reference.

Very happy to see one of those dedicated display slots in smiths today labeled Doctor Who Time Lord Special. Very unhappy to find it full of Davros issues.
