I remember watching The Twin Dilemma back in the day and loving it. I wasn't bothered by the Doc acting nasty because the story explained he was going a bit funny due to regenerating and he was fine by the end.
I can accept that Col's run is the least popular amongst The Fandom but it's terribly irritating when every single bloody article in WHO books and mags ALWAYS has to have something about it being crap and/or the behind the scenes chaos. You don't get that with writing about any other era of Who. It pisses me right off. Especially when I'm having a shit day and the thing I buy about my hobby has a snidey fucking sidebar about things I like.

The constant refrain about the Colin Baker era does get wearing after a while.
Count me as another one who was not repelled by the Doctor's initial behaviour, but simply thought that he would settle down. As he duly did, into a spiky, irascible persona who had issues being patient with the little minds around him, and little regard for their opinion of his views or dress sense. So, not unlike some of his previous incarnations to be honest.
I'm not one of those who dislikes Colin Baker or his era - or costume - specifically and, like all Doctors I thought he had some good stories, some not-so-good stories and some absolute clunkers. But that doesn't make him any different from any of the other Doctors before or since quite frankly.

Grabbed the new DWM, flipped straight to the article on The Twin Dilemma. Read the '6th Doctor costume is crap' sidebar and threw it across the room. FFS, will there ever be a feature on the 6th Doctor era by people who actually like it? Seems be the last remaining period of Who where the usual tired 'it was all shit/BEHIND THE SCENES CHAOS!!!!' opinions are trotted out time and again. Even Sylvester seems to get a pass these days! And about time too. Having now read the article, after I wrote my own Twin Dilema pieces, Yes I think it isn't a terribly good article. Personally I think the costume might have been a mistake but it's not the worst thing about Twin Dilema by a long shot and the real problems come long before that. and thus far, bar some intial decisions when he took over which I'm not sure about , the Grimwade Tiff and Colin's costume, I'm not finding much wrong that I'm willing to lay directly at the producer's feet. There's some very dodgy writing, dircting and script editing out there though...... Did Attack of the Cybermen 1 today. Great episode. Does it really all go that Pete Tong in part 2?

Oh, DWM, trotting out the tired old '80's WHO was crap' mutterings yet again (49 up article). How fucking tedious and predictable zzzzzzzzzz.
Good 'Dalek' feature though. Very informative.

Hadn't read the "49up" yet, only had time for the feature on "Dalek" on the way home - got so absorbed in it I almost missed my stop!

Also the fact that he managed to talk about the Eighth Doctor books and dismiss them without any kind of nod to Alien Bodies got my back up even further. Andy

Does anyone here subscribe to DWM? Considering switching to the sub model to save cash and am unclear how it works, ie what is the monthly charge etc.

DWM secured for reading later. Which cover did folk go for? There is a choice of three. Out of duty to the Skarosian hordes, I had to get the Dalek one.
Also picked up the SJ S5 special. I usually skip the SJA specials, but I admit to a curiousity to finding out how the show might have continued.

The Dinosaur cover popped through my door this morning. Had I gone to a newsagents I probably would have opted for the Town Called Mercy one.

I bought, inevitably, the Dalek cover. Not had a chance to read much of the content as yet - apart from the comic strip. It will very likely end up getting saved for the weekend.
