I think they've been seen in Toymaster or similar. Not many. I need to get into Kingston next week to check the dept store there which has been better than average

I'm still disappointed Soundwave doesn't come with a fake Micromaster Buzzsaw. They should have done that for us. Imagine how amazing that would have been.

Given his relatively small size you'd have thought that wouldn't have broken the plastic budget either. It would have been so amazing to walk into a shop and see 'Soundwave and Buzzsaw' in a box on a shelf. Just like I did as a boy... |

Soundwave- his size is a dramatic improvement over TR. he has a nice robot mode, but again, over sculpted, and the weathering is way over done (though it makes more visual sense than Starscream's).
His vehicle mode is where he crashes and burns, though. While the general consensus always was that it was crap, I thought it looked like an interesting spaceship.
Well, I don't anymore.
I don't honestly for the life of me understand why they didn't follow RotF's lead and make him a communications satellite.

Superb robot. Never had posability like that in generations figures before. When you start putting these chaps together on the shelf they look glorious together. But that alt mode - quite a complicated 25 step transformation that turns him into... nothing. The little cockpit is weird, feels like a throwback to the Diaclone cockpits that served no purpose in the Transformers line. It's a shame that they've preserved the tape deck functionality and the cassettes for it, but totally ignored that in the alt mode. Even the lampost would have been a better official mode because at least it ties into the cartoon. Still. No need to transform him when the robot is that good. I love the scale decision for this line. Everything fits together perfectly.
I'm wondering how how far we can get this. By the end of Siege we'll have all the '84 Cons bar the other tapes and a good chunk of the Autobots. To get the lot in this form would be amazing.
Something did occur to me - big fuss this time about Cybertronian alt modes, yet the Micromasters have Earth modes.

I was the only one here who liked it, as far as I know.
I like funky spaceships more than anything, and Soundwave looked like he had potential, but looked mistransformed.
Now having it in hand, it's not mistransformed, it's extremely awkward, and makes no logical sense in it's form.

Soundwave's Spacebrick mode is utterly ridiculous. Oh my Godfathers. It's ludicrous. Pointless. Functionless. Irrelevant. POOR.

You must now purchase Laserbeak and Ravage. Ravage is shit but he makes Soundwave's chest look better and Laserbeak just about sits on his arm but looks cool.

Yeah got them already. Ravage is indeed poor. Disappointingly so. The Classics/Generations Ravage that came with Hound will remain 'my' Ravage. But Laserbeak is fantastic!
Tell you sumat, though...
Soundwave should have come with Buzzsaw.
Simple repaint. Would've finished off the release in a very nostalgic and beautiful way. It just would have be lovely. Like being ten again. Shame.

Been catching up with Wave 2 Siege recently. Hadn't been overly fussed about Ironhide when I first saw him, but in hand he's been a lot of fun to sit transforming back and forth. Soundwave and Starscream are similarly great. Soundwave's ship mode I really couldn't be bothered with, but they've nailed the robot mode very well. The yellow eyes really made me realise how much I missed them from the classic toy, as he sits next to my red-eyed MP Soundwave. Only downside to Soundwave is that he *really* should've come with a cassette. Especially since he seems to have been easier to pick up than the Laserbeak/Ravage set. I hope that's due for a re-release, or the obvious Buzzsaw recolour. Thankfully noticed ID had it back in stock last night, so that's on its way now  |
