AHM 5: AHM 6: | Looks like Kup loves it when a plan comes together. Of course he will just show up with no explanation of how hiscondition went from terminal to okey dokey. He was never on a planet with Outback, afterall he'll be in the background somewhere alive and well!

hehe!! I like that idea of prowl singing gaybar.....not saying that he is gay though! I don't think Kup needs to explain anything, he's Kup

And who says that Transformers are for kids!

What are everyone's thoughts on IDW's (potential) run of Transformers comics after All Hail Megatron has come and gone?
Will the same writer carry on? Will a new, new writer be brought in? Will Furman return? Will IDW still have the licence by then?

Furman will be back on board with The Thirteen mini-series, after that who can say?

Furman also seems to have other minis planned and is Simon Furman, so he's sure to remain FOREVER.
Anything beyond that, I guess it depends on how well AHM does overall.

Shane McCarthy will disappear into the same black hole that claimed George Strayton, Stuart Moore, Eric Holmes and Chuck Dixon. Furman will be back on the main book. Then, a few years later, the sun will expand and swallow the Earth. Furman will move to Pluto before this happens though, and continue to bang out The Furmanverse comics.

And I was half expecting you to say that he was going to go live with the transformers on Cybertron.
I hope if they do anymore transformers stuff its not so serious.

At some time next year I'm expecting another Best of UK series to be peddled out - this time featuring the story The Legacy of Unicron which I think is the last of the Marvel UK epics that they have not yet printed.

Oh, joy.
I'm actually getting to the point where I'm having second thoughts about buying the trade of this, let alone the individual issues... The art's quite nice in places though. Ironhide looks like he's been pinching Springer's steroid supply.

I predict that little spat will end in one of them punching the other. You know, just to be "shocking".

Oh for fucks sake. So taking out Prime and conquering earth has meant that the multiple battlefronts across the universe are now a moot point.
Pile of shite.

What unmitigated appalling dialogue. Ironhide and Prowl's IQ has devolved significantly and Megatron does not sound like IDW Megaron.
Perhaps it was a blessing after all that previous issues had so little text!
Charles, re-dialogue this puppy! Stat!

And, actually, having thought about it, these could easily have been pages #1-5 of issue #1! All the major story beats are there and so the series gets off to a roaring (if poorly worded) start! So, um, the first 3 isues are completely redundant.

By golly I've got it!!
The traitor is Bumper! You know, the yellow guy from Dreamwave's Ongoing? Remember him?
What's that you say? AHM is published by IDW? So? AHM could just as well follow on from DW's stories any more than it follows on from IDW's stories.

Bumper! The bastard! Oh and according to a fellow on IDW who has the issue, Prowl and Ironhide do indeed have a punch-up. FFS. -Ralph

Wait, an Autobot in the same place as all the others was the one who betrayed them? Why's he with all the others who he betrayed then?

FUN PUB dumb.

Nah. It's worse than Fun Pub. Those comics are aimed at a small niche market through a fan club.
AHM is aimed at the direct market and is supposed to follow on from an established 3-year storyline. Also, it's £2.85 a pop. My standards are thus much harsher.

Hmm. Well, I've read it now.....
I would agree that it does feel like it should be the start of a series which makes it very odd that there have been three issues before it.
I have to say that the preview does nothing to make me want to buy the series - in fact it has rather the opposite effect. In essence it has thrown out the entire set-up of IDW's previous Transformers series - that there was a large war going on out there, of which Earth was a sideshow that suddenly gained strategic significance. Instead we have a sort of "slightly inverted animated movie" setup - the Decepticons seem nearly triumphant and the Autobots are hunkered down in cover on Cybertron (as opposed to Earth). And sadly, short of a series built around flashbacks we are never going to get to see the story of how the Decepticons managed to turn around a see-sawing war and turn it into a rout. A bit of a missed opportunity - and also makes it feel like the universe consists of two planets - Earth and Cybertron as it did in the Sunbow cartoon.
The preview has done impressive work really - it has destroyed the last lingering shred of interest I had in this series. I may pick up "Maximum Dinobots", but as far as IDW's "tent-pole" Transformers comic for the next eight months or so I'm a long way from being interested. Won't be bothering with the trade either to be honest.

I'm annoyed that we've seen all this stuff about conflicts across the galaxy but we aren't seeing the Decepticons win those conflicts (or so it seems).

Post by The Doctor on Oct 21, 2008 21:30:57 GMT
Maybe they are winning their conflicts via the game of hangman. Hard to dramatise on a comics page. Those dasterdly Decepticons! Will their evil never end!
