Lot of people seem to be disappointed with the size but for me its win win. If it's as small as some think it will look fairly amazing alongside the classics. If its as big as the price suggests then it will just be plain awesome. Little concerned that it does seem to have that slightly cartoon overweight look in some shots.

Lot of people seem to be disappointed with the size Andy Looks from the pictures to be significantly bigger than the original toy and also fairly chunky. Doesn't look too bad, but then it is hard to tell at this stage, especially as it doesn't look like this is even a prototype - it has that resin mock-up look to it. I am obliquely pleased that there is a crown there and - although I know it is in fact a reference to some Sunbow nonsense - I cannot help but smile at the realisation that Grimlock comes with a helmet thing that makes him look like he is under one of those industrial hairdryers getting his blue-rinse done. Ah, so he's actually sitting down in the photo with G1 Prime, so he's probably a bit bigger than people originally thought.
The ball joints on the dino arms look like a potential weak point to me :\ Better hope he isn't prone to falling over.
Personally- If the dinosaur head is hidden in robot mode (haven't seen a shot of the back yet) then I love it. If not, well I still love it, but I'll have an affair with MP Starscream.

Man, how obscure a reference is that waiter's tray?? Was he a waiter in any other cartoons other than that one where they go to some magician-ruled world?

He ain't looking too bad you know. Would have preffered Shockwave or Soundwave, and I prob wont get Grimlock, but hopefully they're going to do a good job on him. A nice blend of G1 toy and cartoon, me thinks. Don't his legs look a bit small in proportion? Like the big shoulders. I like big shoulders.

I have to confess that I'm very tempted to get one of these, from a design perspective I've always liked the way the original Grimlock transformed, it's very smart the way the toy could go from a nice representation of a T-Rex to an articulate two armed two legged figure without looking suspect. It seems that the Masterpiece Grimlock has followed the same transformation design as the original toy.

I've never been particularly tempted by the MP releases, but this one really tickles me.
I'm - I'm going to get one!

Waiting on a better picture of the head before making up my mind. I hope it does not have the 'teeth cheeks' design in robot mode he's had in recent comics.
Looking good so far though.

Hmmm. Those clearer pictures are selling this to me more and more. He looks like he is a rather nice piece of engineering - starting from a really good base in terms of the original design and adding some tweaks and improvements to bring it up even further.
Very nice indeed
Karl (Also, the clearer picture makes "dino-hairdryer" mode amuse me even further.)

Size matters to Shockprowl. His quest for a bigger Grimlock will only lead to despair and disappointment.

Given the current state of the yen:pound exchange rate I suspect I may have to skip Masterpiece Grimlock, which will be a shame as he is looking rather nice indeed. Ah well, my trusty vintage Grimlock will soldier on, trouper that he is.

I've given up dreaming of a re-issue original Grimlock so this will be the next best thing. It looks fantastic. I shall put some pennies aside over the next few months towards one. Hopefully the exchange rate will be more favourable next March.
