I think I am going to have to get an overdraft extension. Grimlock is too good to pass up. I also hope the exchange rate is good come March. ===KEN

Good lord the coloured pics of MP Grimlock look stunning. I suspect the raised shoulders may bug me as will the very stiff looking upper body of the trex mode.

Not actually as bad as I feared. Although, by the time it comes out I wouldn't be surprised if it worked out a bit more to be honest. I've been watching the prices of some stuff of HLJ be driven steadily upward by the inexorable slide of the pound and become steadily more convinced they are moving swiftly beyond my price range. I have to say that I am tempted by Henkei! Ratchet though. He does look rather nice indeed. Much nicer than my Universe Ironhide, who is ok but the rather flat colour scheme doesn't really do much for the mold. Henkei! Ratchet is rather swish though. He also has that lovely shiny chrome.... Grimlock definitely looks like the best Masterpiece yet. Let's hope that there's none of the quality control issues that plagued MP Megatron.
I think I'll have me one of those Henkei! Ratchet's as well.

13000 yen is £100, ouch. Where's the 200 JPY = 1GBP I'm used too.
Also- from the pictures before I thought the head and neck of the t-rex folded up somehow in to the body in robot mode... turns out it just hangs down the back, which is a bit of a let down.
It's still awesome though and I'll still be importing.

I think I'll go for one four to six months after release when they're starting to crop up on Yahoo Japan for about half that.

Indeed. £100 + postage + possible CUTA is too rich for my blood (income for a fortnight). I may call upon your Yahoo Japan-fu at a later time.

I might risk waiting till after Botcon. If I avoid having to post anything home it might be the cheapest place to pick it up. Andy

I have to say that £100 is a bit steep for MP Grimlock. I think that has moved much more towards the "skip" list in honesty. Not that it doesn't look good, but I'm not sure that it is a clear tons worth of good.

Toyspark is offering £113 delivered. His packages normally escape customs rapeage too so that's probably the best deal we're gonna see.

If the GBP to Polish currency exchange rate holds as favorable as it is now - maybe I'll be able to do better than 113 when our MP Grimlocks come in. But at this point I'm selling him for 113 PLUS roughly 15 Pounds SAL shipping to the UK (Polish people get him for 113 GBP plus 2 pounds shipping in Poland), so I guess I suck. In any event - if anybody doesn't manage to get a good deal on MP Grimlock or wants to wait a couple of months, I expect to have a good amount of them available by June/July. I'll put up a topic in stock exchange then. Sadly, can't make any promises in terms of GBP prices so far ahead Pete

I am actually rather upset about not being able to convince myself to part with over £100 of my hard earned pennies for this one

I tired to convince myself too, but decided he wasn't worth the money.
Sure, I love Grimlock, and I generally like the Masterpieces (except Megatron), but, I dunno, something somehow just isn't clicking.
But, he's got a lot of coverage in the Generations 2009 book, so I don't feel like I'm missing out too much!

It looks splendid, but I still lack an original Grimlock so I'd rather get one of those first.

The solution is easy guys - it's all a matter of psychology If you just started collecting Macross figures, you'd realize how good you have it as Transformers fans. Grimlock's price is very reasonable for a figure like that. I'm going to have to cut my leg off and sell it on the black market in order to afford a space ship that turns into an essentially non-poseable brick robot for what will most likely amount to 300 GBP... So - Transformers fans are lucky They have the cheapest robot hobby around. Pete

Yes, it's reasonably priced for the niche collector market item it is. If it were a regular line general release toy, then no.

Pete I take it that would be the Quarter then? But yes indeed, Grimlock is very competitively priced for what he is - all of the Masterpiece line are in fact. Karl (I'd argue the point about the cheapest robot hobby around - I reckon that fans of recent Super Sentai robots probably get off more lightly :- ) )

That's all I needed to hear!
Masterpiece Grimlock now ordered. Along with Alternity Convoy, Henkei Ratchet*, and Henkei Inferno.
*I know it's a rubbish mould, but the robot isn't too bad.

Haven't you heard of Yamato's upcoming two-foot long 1:2000 scale SDF-1 Macross ? The Quarter will not be that expensive. But the Macross is likely to cost 50 or more thousand Yen Like I said - Transformers fans have it easy Pete

There's a 2-foot long SDF-1 coming out? Any pics on-line? I'm curious as to what it looks like.
