I have seen Galactica:1980 several times. This should not be taken to indicate enjoyment of it, rather the fact that I was born in the days when there were only three TV channels - so the selection of school holiday television was more than a little limited. I've certainly got no great desire to watch it again.

Well done Kaptain.
You are wise and sensible. The Scotcon Ruling Trio are correct. BSG1980 reeks of balls.

Well done Kaptain. You are wise and sensible. The Scotcon Ruling Trio are correct. BSG1980 reeks of balls. Never heard of this self-elected group. Furthermore 2/3 of it thinks Predators is a good film and 1/3 thinks Star Trek V is! We have little reason therefore to be surprised that they cannot see the truth of 1980s greatness.

Okay, half way through the series now. I've endured enjoyed The Space Scouts. That is an odd direction to take the series in it has to be said. I liked the premise for the first three episodes, but less so the scouts idea. Made it all a bit too kids' TV. Definitely didn't like the way all the kids are still on Earth being looked after by the token female character at the end (cue laughs and smiles from the male characters). However, it's still palatable as far as I'm concerned. Still a worthwhile watch.
I also noted the titles actually just say Battlestar Galactica, not 1980, so that does make it all sound very proper.

I'm putting this in context. What else was there coming out of America around 1980 that was any good? All the genre shows from that era were like this. Even the ones you remember being cool, like V, turn out to be a bit suspect when you watch them now.

Alright, so Spaceball is kind of Space Scouts part 3 then... It may seem odd to some, but I am enjoying this. It must be the beard. It's mostly harmless. I've watched six episodes of this in a fortnight, which shows it's holding my attention at least.
I love the fact the computer is called Computron. Heh.
Cylons up next, that's got to be good. Right?

People whined before and made fun of it because it had HUMAN CYLONS (for budget reasons) but that is cool nowadays, so...

Am currently on Night of the Cylons pt 2 watching Troy and Dillon in top hat and tails clowning about on stage with a six foot Hong Kong Phooey, and a Cylon at a Halloween party.
...
I'm not entirely sure I can defend this.
Human Cylons is a fine idea, as proven in the last decade. But who thought this plot was a good idea?
Still. I'm not giving up the cause. Up till this episode this series has been perfectly serviceable, but this two parter with the nonsense about the plane hijack has really shown this is aimed squarely at a much younger audience than the original series.

I knew you would break eventually!!! -Ralph I haven't broken yet! The rest of this series has been great. These two episodes are bloody awful though. No two ways about it. All they're missing is comedy sound effects.

Space Croppers!
I marvelled at how much of the first five minutes of this episode is carefully reused footage from the original series. That one changed voice over in the Cylon command room changes the purpose of the whole space battle. I can imagine this episode gets a bit of flack, but the plot really is no different to what you get week in week out in the A-Team so it can't really be any worse. I enjoyed it anyway. Even the crowbarred in educational references and sped up footage of beans growing! great!
Starbuck next. Going out on a high!

I have not seen it for a long long time since young Ralph watched it on BBC2. I loved the first series. The second series which was on the spaceship and had shit hawkman and Triton the sarcastic robot sucked balls though.
