I pretty much concur with Phil on Season 22. Season 23 I always used to think was weaker until I watched it again ten years or so back, when it went up in my opinion dramatically. Really caught me by surprise. Excellent stuff, I wish Colin's Doc had been that one from the start. I watched season 23 in a day once while I was at University when the VHS came out Not having a copy myself (yes, I'm a heretic) I've only watched it once since becoming an adult, and that was with a friend. And we did indeed do that in a day. Cracked open the first cider with... episode 1, I think. Was quite cheerful by the end. Would've done similar whilst the Conjunx was away recently, but apparently this kind of thing whilst being responsible for a small child is frowned upon. (Watching Trial of a Time Lord, that is. Being plastered is fine - I grew up in Portsmouth.) |

I like that one more than some of the post 2005 arrangements we've had! The version for the Capaldi era is by far the worst rendition of The Theme Tune. Sounds like a fart in a wet paper bag. I dunno, I quite like it - I like the clock-like sounds it makes, which matches the visuals for Capaldi's era. Certainly though Gold's efforts with the theme tune became less successful as they went along - I wasn't keen with the version he used during Smith's tenure. I do wish though that one of the soundtrack albums would have actually contained the version with the guitar on from Before The Flood. Although that's probably only me that wants that... |

The blu-ray of THE DALEKS IN COLOUR does NOT have a reversible sleeve! It doesn't match the others on the shelf.

I got this as the original serial is listed as an extra, assuming it would be in HD as a blu ray.
Nope.
It's on a second disc in this blu-ray set...as a standard dvd repressing of the 2007 release.
DOUBLE TEABAGGED.

If you can ignore the fact that Bonnie Langford was told to scream, and then told to scream in a specific key to match the theme tune sting, her character is far better than she's given credit for. Vervoids is a great murder mystery and very underrated.

I have very vague memories of Bonnie being in Hoop. Bad memories. "How can Bonnie Langford be in my beloved sci-fi institution?!" (I didn't use words like 'institution' when I was a kid.)
But she's bloody brilliant in this so far!
And there's a great rapport between her and Sixth.
If only Sixth treated Peri like he does Mel...
But Mel's great! I'm revelationed. And this is GREAT Hoop. This is right up there.
The aliens look weird though. Like a cross between a brain, a cheese plant, and a vagina.

That was SENSATIONAL Hoop. Why couldn't more Sixth be like this?! Why has all of Sixth been him just treating Peri like shit and generally being cross at people? This was different. This was breaking into who Sixth is. And Mel was critical to that.
For the first time, I liked Sixth.
