I'd have done that if it was clear from the start that the standard ones were coming, but by the time it did I was too far down the limited route. This collection will eventually take up much less space than the DVDs, so I'm not too bothered.
Not sure what to do about those. I regret moving on all the VHS tapes (bar about 8) but wouldn't have anywhere to keep them now. The DVDs will definitely remain until all the BR sets are out, but then what? Do we need both? Will I have retro pangs for DVD watching in 20 years when the BRs are effectively the same technology?

I keep one copy of each story on DVD. For stories which had multiple editions on DVD, only the most recent is kept.
It is very satisfying to see on the shelves.
At some point I will flog the limited ed season blu ray booksets to replace with the sturdier standard editions.
Only VHS I still have is TRIAL OF A TIMELORD (in its tin). That will never be purged, no matter how rusty the tin may become! Cripes. That is...30 years old now.

I was surprised to see Roger Delgado and Kate O'Mara working side-by-side in The Avengers last night ( in the 1968 episode, Stay Tuned), and even more surprised by the ending. Delgado's character is so similar to The Master that it could easily be a dimension-hopping escapade for the character. I hope this is officially part of Doctor Who canon by teatime tomorrow.

Delgado's appearance in Randall & Hopkirk's The Ghost Who Saved the Bank at Monte Carlo is well worth a watch alongside both Nicholas Courtney and Brian Blessed

Shockprowl: Ask us about the comic strip with Marinus and the Alien Vrood in Hey, isn't there a comic strip with Marinus and the Alien Brood? Yes there is. Grant Morrison and John Ridgway the Sixth Doctor lands on Marinus, and it hints that in time the natives of Marinus will evolve into some other Doctor Who monsters who will then in turn evolve into something greater...

Yes, and I'd love for RTD to try and square the circle of it in current Who.

So have we seen the recent season (3.)1 trailer..? It's got the RTD energy, for sure, but what I'm suddenly very wary of is Ruby's announcement that she's hear to save the world. That sounds very Clara-like to me. And not in a good way...

No no. Currently watching... a rather odd one... The Web Planet. Absolute madness this one.
But I'm still not over Dalek Invasion Earth. What a tense roller coaster that was! Great Hoop. And Susan's emotional departure... there was some bottom lip quivering going on and I'm not ashamed to admit it.
I've... struggled since then though. Not been too impressed I have to say, struggled to stay focused on the stories, and Web Planet is pushing that to the limit!

It's ambitious, I'll give it that.
Doesn't quite succeed ....
The Menoptera leading the invasion force is a first TV appearance for Martin Jarvis!
DIOE is fab, especially the first three episodes. But it does sag a bit following
Rescue is functional, introduces new companion
Romans is good, but you need to be in the right mood. Dr Bullard from Midsummer Murders is in it (Drax in Armageddon Factor)
You're on the Web Planet
The Crusade is incomplete, the episodes missing are the only ones gone from s2 and may be not in the s2 order on iPlayer
Following that is the Space Museum which ... could be better
Then we have The Chase, Daleks in Time Machines chasing the Tardis. Fun ride and important towards the end
Last of all The Time Meddler :-)
Keep going!

Guys... I have a confession.
Your enthusiasm for my Hoop Marathon has guilted me into fessing up.
I skipped.
After Keys if Mauritius I jumped to Dalek Invasion Earth.
I'm sorry! I'm sorry! I just really wanted to see that one! And it didn't disappoint!
Plus, the 'historic' sounding ones didn't sound that interesting. I'd watched Romans and was unimpressed. Even bored.
But I knew what I'd done was wrong, and I vowed to right the wrong!
And last night I watch The Aztecs.
AND IT WAS HOOP IF THE VERY HIGHEST LEVEL!!!
It was brilliant! Intricate plot, Ian kicking ass (as Ians often do), Susan standing up to male tyranny, Barbara really shinning in her role. Great story!!!

The Romans is an odd duck... I like the bits that are pure British Farce - almost everything with Nero, Doctor Who bluffing his way through impersonating a master musician... But it is rather uneven in the getting to it.
Aztecs is brilliant though - glad that you've gone back and given it a go, and really glad you enjoyed it.

It's a strong season generally bar The Web Planet. I'd go with Time Meddler and Romans being next best behind DIOE. Romans is Fab, Hartell's loving it Web Planet is trying, in a good way, but it is aiming very very high and missing by quite some distance Chase is also missing by some distance, mainly thanks to director Richard Martin, but it's quite a fun run around with an OK start and end. Space Museum is $#!+3, Crusade I've struggled to get into and Rescue & Plant of Giants have never grabbed me

This is just making me feel I need to watch the Blu-rays now.
I have a soft spot for The Space Museum. It's not brilliant, but it's enjoyable and it's one of those from the sacred 31Who weekend.
