This episode was the one I was least fond of, mostly because I guessed the important thing fairly quickly.

Listening to and reading reactions to it, it certainly seems to have divided opinion more dramatically than the other three episodes. I just found it frustrating that so much of what built the tension was given no explanation at the climax. You can't write a story where so many pieces are put in place to draw the viewer in, then ignore them all at the end.

I have to say, this season is playing very well to the all-important teenage-girls-in-the-Jim-household demographic.
She's loved it all, even Space Babies, each episode more than the previous. She was blown away by 73 yards.
I'm just sorry for her that her friends aren't interested in the series, so she only has me to enthuse at about it!

Highlight of the season for me so far. -Ralph I thought it was a cracking ghost story. An appropriately creepy haunting, and a dramatically interesting, way to actually _use_ the fact that you are living a cursed life if you think about it. I really loved the logic of Ruby being unable to approach her haunting. Of course she couldn't - what is the one thing that you can never catch up with until you die...the end of your life. You can't get there until it happens to you...
Really love the fact that the production team are being clear that they are going to use the fact that Doctor Who is a fantasy show to branch out and explore new genres - in the past the show has tended to stay within rock-throwing distance of "soft" SF. It is lovely that every story so far from this season has been a different genre - kids adventure-comedy, weird urban horror, war story/polemic, and now ghost story. I'm loving the variety we are getting. It does feel like they've taken the straitjacket off and gone for it. Karl

Well then... I'm very much looking forward to seeing how many people just don't get this one.
I love how it very much started out as what looked like an old man ranting about young people today, until it suddenly swerved, became something else instead, and all the things that had been obvious about the story and the setting that hadn't been commented on suddenly snapped into very painful focus.

I thought PLANET OF THE INFLUENCERS was excellent. Very clever and I think that ending will stay with me for a long time.
Gatwa is fanastic. Absolutely fantastic.
After the opening misfire of SPACE BABIES, it's been a very strong season.[spoilers]

DVD's of the 21st Century episodes in the next charity shop clearout. The time has come to upgrade to Blu-Ray for those episodes.

I'm desperate to do that but I must have uniform spines!
I do wish the Blu-ray line would do an Eccleston box just to let us know they're going that way. Mind you at the rate they're going we'll be dead by the time they've done forty seasons.

If it helps, when I do pick up Docs 9-15 on Blu Ray, a uniform spine reissue will be announced the day after I finish collecting them.

Absolutely gutted. So glad I saw him at a convention (shortly before he turned 90) when he had more energy than anyone else in the room!
I've been re-watching The Aztecs recently. Use the thumb, Ian!

I sadly never had the pleasure of seeing him in person. But given the huge energy he brought to his Big Finish performances in his later years this does not surprise me at all.
I think I may have to rewatch an early Hartnell story or two in the next few days in honour of him, one of the greatest knights we have known. (He was Sir Lancelot as well as Sir Ian of Jaffa! Knighted twice, and worthy of the honour both times.)

No! I loved Ian in my recent watch through! He really held the early episodes together, him and Barbara. Then developed into a fascinating character. Brilliant actor.

Rogue: A bit meh after two belters. Looked a bit cheap. Thin story lacking in tension or excitement. A good idea in there, but didn't do much for me.

Well... I imagine that certain parts of t'Interwebs are going to be absolutely normal about that. Absolutely normal. I'm sure it'll all be fine.
No I'm not going to check.
Anyway, loved it, especially since the Conjunx has been on a Bridgerton rewatch recently, and so this feels quite familiar. And better, since it has aliens and stuff in it.
Also completely failed to notice that the Shalka Doctor was included in the display of Doctors. But then I did watch it at midnight, after a work outing where the drinks were all paid for by the company, which I think explains it. Think I'll have to watch it again to be sure...
